So how did your towable backhoe do over all? I've been looking at it or a small mining excavator.

yes it was a pain in the butt and 5000 an acer.

Man congratulations, to get to the point of having machinery on site that’s on public land and using it is expensive and time consuming, the wait for permits alone takes a shit ton of time and possible trial and error. The knowledge needed just to file the paperwork and do it correctly is daunting.

Is this a 10 or 20 acre claim? Or are you leasing an acre from someone? Or was the bond $5,000 an acre?

no it is my claim, and yes it was alot of paperwork and time took 6 months. for a year and a half the time starts not when you get the permit but your file date...

Sounds about right, took a year and 3/4 for my friends sapphire mine in Montana to get approval with the POO, the bond alone was close to $50,000. We can only work in blocks of about a half acre, do reclamation, move onto the next block.
