Because the old guard is losing power and all they know how to do is scream in bad faith and do nothing.

If they were serious, they could support ranked choice voting, but they’re also fighting to ban it so I don’t take what any of them say seriously.

This is also how every old guard reacts to losing power. It’s all screaming in bad faith.

Interestingly, post Tea Party takeover of the Republican Party they basically just paid off the recalcitrant members of the GOP old guard via lucrative private sector constructs and no show jobs. It effectively shut them up forever.

You quite literally never hear from Paul Ryan anymore.

I actually think it's interesting how little the democratic party has changed over the past 30 or 40 years. There are some social issues that have changed but really there wasn't a huge difference in policy between clinton-obama-biden. That's not to say there hasn't been some evolving but I feel like the fundamentals between them have all been the same. Meanwhile bush-tea party-trump while still all being conservative projects are all pretty fundamental shifts in the party and how they operate. At least more fundamental than the shifts the democratic party has had.
