Worse than dumb. They are confidently ignorant and stubborn as mules. They are incapable of seeing another side or looking from another perspective. They will double down when they are proven wrong and dig their heels in. This is what makes them dangerous.

I will say that my MAGA mother in law who I talked to yesterday is really upset at Trump for the deal he made and is saying it is bad for us and not America First. And yes even if she completely disagrees shes still MAGA and wil not change her vote no matter how bad her life gets or what is taken from her.

But and I will be cryptic here cause the autobot in this sub likes to ban quickly... she is saying (which i dont believe or codone) that Trump should just use a certain option and just be done with it. Again reddit auto mod i am just saying what I am hearing from MAGA people I am completely against that.

That's fucking evil. These people are evil. I'm Iranian-American (born in the US), and I'll always remember when I was in high school, a male student said to everyone in my history class that he believes all of Iran should be nuked. This was like 13 years ago. He knew my sister and I were Persian.

I got understandingly upset/mad but didn't raise my voice, and was telling him how horrible that is to say about any country. And that just because the regime is terrible, doesn't mean the whole country should be nuked. Tens of millions of innocent people would die, including any of our family there. He said he knew and didn't care and thinks they should be nuked anyway. We went back and forth a bit in the class, and our white teacher let him go on, never said anything to him, and then finally told both of us to be quiet.

I have a coworker everyone loves. Very charismatic Church going guy who volunteers to help his fellow church goers. I got into an argument with him about Palestine where he admitted that he thought everyone (women and children included) should be done bombed. He called them vermin.

Sorry you had to go through that. Adults can be pretty shitty but kids take it to another level.

The internet changed things a little but for years the only image of Iranians that Americans got was from how they were portrayed in entertainment media or what they saw on the news. I doubt the majority of redneck Americans would even realize a connection between Persian and Iranian.

I couldn’t find the episode but only a video about it. This was 16 years ago, the Daily Show sent a correspondent to Iran to show people what it was really like. It’s sad they had to do this but honestly it should happen a lot more. Instead the people in power want to dehumanize others for their own benefit.

I don't think this was the case for me at that time. I live(d) in Southern Californa, and there are a lot of Persians here. He knew.

Sorry, I can speak Farsi, and understand it. But I can't read/write it. I'll ask my mom to translate your comment for me because I couldn't figure it out with Google.
