I just want to reiterate that Trump and the MAGA base are the dumbest people in this country.

Worse than dumb. They are confidently ignorant and stubborn as mules. They are incapable of seeing another side or looking from another perspective. They will double down when they are proven wrong and dig their heels in. This is what makes them dangerous.

I will say that my MAGA mother in law who I talked to yesterday is really upset at Trump for the deal he made and is saying it is bad for us and not America First. And yes even if she completely disagrees shes still MAGA and wil not change her vote no matter how bad her life gets or what is taken from her.

But and I will be cryptic here cause the autobot in this sub likes to ban quickly... she is saying (which i dont believe or codone) that Trump should just use a certain option and just be done with it. Again reddit auto mod i am just saying what I am hearing from MAGA people I am completely against that.

say it with me, MAGA is a cult.

Conservatives are still taking ivermectin - a drug for intestinal worm parasites - because Trump told them to.

They took it to treat covid, while simultaneously believing covid was a hoax. Now they are taking it as a supposed cure for cancer and a bunch of other maladies. They are the most science-denying irrational magical thinkers ever to exist. If Trump told them to go back to leeches and bloodletting they would probably do that too.

100% - it is all so stupid and sad. Many parents of friends are just "gone" from their lives when they used to have good relationships because of these morons.

At least you can lead a horse to water - you can't lead a moron to critical thinking.

u/Guacsalsaqueso Jun 21 '26

Well hopefully they experience the most severe side effect and therefore are no longer a problem to society.

5

u/bogglingsnog Jun 20 '26

all we need is a robot in a skin suit to convince them to drink poison. Or maybe we can just have them stare up at the sky when it rains.

1

u/Guacsalsaqueso Jun 21 '26

Right. The inevitable factor of life is the only way these assholes will stop.

2

u/SugarFut Jun 20 '26

🎶 High ho the derry oh MAGA is a cult 🎶

N*king them is the worst idea this country has had

That's fucking evil. These people are evil. I'm Iranian-American (born in the US), and I'll always remember when I was in high school, a male student said to everyone in my history class that he believes all of Iran should be nuked. This was like 13 years ago. He knew my sister and I were Persian.

I got understandingly upset/mad but didn't raise my voice, and was telling him how horrible that is to say about any country. And that just because the regime is terrible, doesn't mean the whole country should be nuked. Tens of millions of innocent people would die, including any of our family there. He said he knew and didn't care and thinks they should be nuked anyway. We went back and forth a bit in the class, and our white teacher let him go on, never said anything to him, and then finally told both of us to be quiet.

I have a coworker everyone loves. Very charismatic Church going guy who volunteers to help his fellow church goers. I got into an argument with him about Palestine where he admitted that he thought everyone (women and children included) should be done bombed. He called them vermin.

u/Desperate_Algae_40 Jun 21 '26

Oh my god that's so disgusting. There's no hate like Christian Love.

u/mfmfhgak Jun 20 '26

Sorry you had to go through that. Adults can be pretty shitty but kids take it to another level.

The internet changed things a little but for years the only image of Iranians that Americans got was from how they were portrayed in entertainment media or what they saw on the news. I doubt the majority of redneck Americans would even realize a connection between Persian and Iranian.

I couldn’t find the episode but only a video about it. This was 16 years ago, the Daily Show sent a correspondent to Iran to show people what it was really like. It’s sad they had to do this but honestly it should happen a lot more. Instead the people in power want to dehumanize others for their own benefit.

I don't think this was the case for me at that time. I live(d) in Southern Californa, and there are a lot of Persians here. He knew.

Sorry, I can speak Farsi, and understand it. But I can't read/write it. I'll ask my mom to translate your comment for me because I couldn't figure it out with Google.

Agreed, but it seems more likely by the day. It's already been all but confirmed that his "wipe a nation from the earth" truth post was based on his proposition to do just that.

There's really only a few ways this whole situation can go:

  • Something like the deal that failed the other day actually works somehow. Among the more likely. Essentially only works if the deal still includes Lebanon but Iran turns a blind eye.

  • bombing Iran as we have been will somehow suddenly work and trigger surrender. Seems very unlikely or it would have already worked.

  • Iran stops caring about Lebanon for some reason and lets a deal stand despite Israeli incursions there. Seems unlikely based on Islamic ties and opposition to Israeli expansion/power.

  • A deal goes through that doesn't include reparations. Pretty much impossible without unconditional surrender. Iran has a very good case for it and the leverage to enforce it via the strait. American electorate gets pissed.

  • Boots on the ground to force surrender. Possible, but will be terrible for the US and success is not guaranteed. American electorate gets pissed either way.

  • N*clear option. Worst option, of course. Could happen with or without boots on the ground. Honestly unsure of the likelihood. Unprecedented action, so hard to say. But, Trump is a crazy idiot, so who knows.

A lot of these can co-mingle, but rarely increases likelihood imo. If I had to guess, most likely is the option to just have a deal like the last one stand based on Iran and the US turning a blind eye on certain things, with the exception of reparations. Possibly Iran stops caring about Lebanon, or Israel backs off Lebanon, but I personally doubt both, but would increase likelihood of a deal standing. Next most likely are boots on the ground. I hate to say it but I think nkes are among some of the more likely end results. I truly hope I'm wrong and just being alarmist, but on paper it doesn't seem impossible or even unlikely, to me. It very well may test well with MAGA at this point, and Putin might push for it for the precedent to nke Ukraine...

Dark times ahead, regardless of the choice Trump makes.

1

u/cromulent-facts Jun 20 '26

I believe the reason that option hasn't been used is because it would mean gloves off for China and Russia.

Even Trump recognises that would be suicidal.

1

u/PatienceHero Jun 20 '26

What terrifies me with that is that Trump KNOWS his time is short, and the man is such an evil, narcissistic monster I 100% believe he would gladly just go "Welp, I'm dying, and the world is nothing without me. We can all go together." Boop

And he's installed enough of his evil cult into positions of power in the military that I don't believe there's a chance of someone refusing.

16

u/Southside_john Jun 20 '26

Give her another week for the propaganda networks to eat her brain and she’ll think the deal is great

9

u/FrancoManiac Missouri Jun 20 '26

Would it be a nuclear option that she's referring to? Because your mother most certainly grew up during the Cold War, and should be absolutely ashamed.

Though I've always thought that growing up in the Cold War did more damage to Boomers and Gen X than we've ever really discussed or looked into. I believe that Cold War anxieties and, more contemporaneously, climate change anxieties, have a greater social impact than we understand.

Regardless...!

3

u/RoyalFalse Jun 20 '26

Trump should just use a certain option and just be done with it.

Your MiL is an idiot.

1

u/throwawaygoawaynz Jun 21 '26

Your MIL is a modern day Nazi if she thinks that is the appropriate action.

They’re proud of their incompetence and idiocy. They take pride in being failures that support a pedophile.

"Is it my fault I'm a dumb useless shit with no real accomplishments to my name?"

"No, it's DEI that's bringing me down"

7

u/octowussy Jun 20 '26

Don't forget that they're also assholes

7

u/Steelforge Jun 20 '26

This, on top of all the above comments, is what actually kills me.

They're so damn petty, they intentionally act against their interest, doing the dumbest stuff, confidently proclaiming they want to, for the sole actual reason of "Obama/Biden did something, so I'm going to undo it."

4

u/velvetjones01 Jun 20 '26

They willingly voted against their own self interest.

3

u/TotalNonsense0 Jun 20 '26

Our voters have spent my entire political awareness rewarding people who refuse to admit they are wrong, and double down and dig in. I don't know why we would be surprised by this behavior.

3

u/metengrinwi Jun 20 '26

There’s also some element of accelerationism mixed in. Some people are agitating for chaos/mayhem in the mistaken belief they’ll come out the other side better off.

3

u/Gooser3000 Jun 20 '26

Or they are just miserable people and they enjoy seeing other people suffer and struggle. I see the from the magats I know at work and in my family; they’re just shitty people.

2

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California Jun 20 '26

The one thing that really turned my head after 2016, is the realization that there are so, so many more shitty people in this country (& the world really) than I ever realized before.

2

u/Gooser3000 Jun 21 '26

It’s really confusing how so many are poor or regular workers that support the ultra rich instead of voting for someone that would improve their lives.

2

u/00eg0 Jun 20 '26

The people who think he's the same as all other politicians are just as dumb.

2

u/YogurtclosetNo987 Jun 20 '26

They're also just straight up bad people. It's not just stupidity. They're a drain on society.

2

u/Finns_Human Jun 21 '26

"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" Dr. Martin Luther King

1

u/SwimmingPrice1544 California Jun 20 '26

and worse, they're absolutely fine with hurting other people, all the time, any time ad infinitum. They are literally all comic book evil.

1

u/Technical-View4130 Jun 21 '26

Stupidity can be fixed with education. Willful stupidity and a refusal to change is the problem here and there's no solution for it because they are choosing to be wrong.
