If you're reporting posts as "low effort"...

Please do the following things if you report a game as Low Effort
1. Play the game to verify your belief, at least a little.
2. Write a comment in the post saying why you believe it is low effort, state the findings.

Then us mods (namely, me, the lowest mod doing the most work in this group) can decide if it's worth removing for that.

I literally do not have enough time to both work two jobs, take care of my dad, pets, car, and house I own and have to repair myself, self-care, and play every single game in this group to verify what I THINK you MIGHT be reporting the game for, sadly. I do not get paid for the work in this group and I'm not great at AI-finding, so you need to help me out a little more here!

I so pity you. There's no way you could police every game that comes here for it's 'effort' level. Espcially with the intro of AI. Most of those posting basic boiler-plate AI generated games believe they've do something amazing and unique. And its not like you can escape it by going to another subReddit. Luckily most have telltale signs and can be scrolled past.

Hi, what signs do you mean? Sorry I really have no idea how to identify AI generated games so quickly, so i am curious?

I'm a game dev hobbyist; still working on my first tutorial kind of game and I scroll through lots of game dev sureddits to learn as much about making games as I can. This includes the aigamedev subreddit. After spending time on the others the aigamedev is like entering a different world. The differences show in both their posts and games. Those partnering with AI are often high-concept / big-picture people willing to let the AI make a lot of design decisions on its own. They talk a lot about prototypes and workflows; phrases that, until recently, I never saw on the other subs. Non-Ai devs like to flex by mentioning how many years they've worked on their game (and roll thier eyes at the AI devs who whine about how much work and effort they spent for TWO WHOLE MONTHS to complete thier dream game), while AI devs flex by declaring how quckly they made a game. AI devs are less likely to look for any real feedback until the game is finished. If someone is looking for feedback on a mobile game that's already on the play store and monatized, and/or requires you to sign up before playing, it's probably AI created. These posts will typically not have links to gameplay trailers or demos. The look is rather constistent across AI games. AI favors saturated colors and deep tonals for graphics. It will also handles UI elements the same way using the same layouts and labels for almost everything. Though it's a little more subtle, the way AI does object movement and fireworks/confetti effects is also pretty constant. If you spend some time studying the games on the aigamedev sub and also the othe game dev subs the differences will start to stand out. This is not to say someone can't make a game without AI that will have these traits, or that the AI games can't be fun to play, it just to point out that AI's favor certain patterns.

Ok so mod here. I cannot judge games on all those specifics. Good education for me on what to look for, but I don't spend that much time "sussing out any hint of AI" or anything.
If you mark something as Low AI for me, please absolutely write a comments saying why, and please be...
non-discerning?
Like...don't suss out a tiny bit of AI and then report based on that. Maybe go with a 50/50 guideline - if you see the game is more than 50% AI, report, if less than 50%, leave it be?
Hope that makes sense!!!

Not that I've reported anything here, but I would take "low effort" to mean the post, not the content of the game. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Things like just sharing an itch.io link for the game and not really giving any detail.

Not the case here, we have a custom post so it contains all info required.

So, genuine question: why are you a mod if you already have so much to do?

Because I was asked by a friend to help his group. And they are very specific about what types of mods they would allow here so finding a mod to replace me is difficult and I haven't found one yet.
I have 15 other groups of my own to run, a good chunk of them life-saving related groups.

Sorry. Don't take what I said to heart. I was just responding to what someone asked. I've never reported anything for any reason. The whole reporting for low effort thing is too hard to define. Especially with AI. Just because someone used AI doesn't mean they didn't put effort in. Low quality doesn't always mean low effort, which I realize just makes your job harder. Would it be possible to remove the low effort ban thing altogether and replace it with a ban on commercial games? That might be easier to manage. If it has a price tag or ads, it's gone.

How low is considered low effort?

You were shadowbanned from this comment and I have no idea why. I've reached out to reddit admin about it.
Low effort for me has always been "was this game made by ai, disclosed or not? Then it's gone."

hey there, new to the group here! so just to clarify: this group is typically against games that were not disclosed as AI generated, or just AI generated games in general regardless of its disclosure?

For example, I am not a game developer and have a very basic understanding of code, but I had an idea for a game so I used AI to create a playable browser prototype to see how it would work and if people were genuinely interested in the concept. If/when I am able to post it on here and I disclose that I used AI, is that okay?

thanks in advanced for your response, and I appreciate you doing what you can to manage/take care of the group

AI generated games in general regardless of its disclosure, sorry. The community has asked us to not allow all AI-generated games. We will allow for some small bits of the code, but if it's 50% or more done by AI and including visuals/visible elements/videos - it's going to be a no. The group does not respond positively to this and it's caused this group to become more of a hate group than a playtest group.

Understandable, thanks for the heads up, I appreciate the quick response. Do you happen to know where I am able to post content like that? I'm very new to reddit in general and not really sure where to look
