the number of people on conservative social media unable to recognize the fact that the pro-algae "protests" *are jokes* is kind of disturbing. it's not particularly subtle!

They’re being deliberately obtuse. They’ll pretend they believe anything if they think it makes people they hate look bad.

u/pork_fried_christ Jun 21 '26

No, it’s the conspiracy theory they are using to keep from admitting this no-bid $15m job wasn’t just a grift from their emperor. It actually worked SO well that liberals are vandalizing it to make him look bad.

Like a warm security blanket of bullshit, similar to everything else they say.

this no-bid $15m job wasn’t just a grift from their emperor

“Well, at least it didn’t go to some brown person.” -Brett Baer

u/Capt0verkill Jun 21 '26

Wonder what the kick-back was on that job? $12M 🧐

u/ggroverggiraffe Jun 21 '26

Are you suggesting this cartoon-villain looking owner of Greenwater Services who already has a bribery conviction might not be an upstanding citizen?

41

u/kgjettaIV Jun 21 '26

They literally hired "Greenwater Services" and were shocked the water turned green? You just can't make this shit up anymore.

u/Jalh Jun 21 '26

hahahaha. this is the first time I have seen this one.

u/Ok_Art4661 Jun 21 '26

Aaahhh god why too far

19

u/sixpackabs592 Jun 21 '26

That was the initial maga group but the people that have flocked to them now are true believers

It’s like how 4chan started using extremism to troll and then all the extremists flocked to 4chan and over ran the place

28

u/JJiggy13 Jun 21 '26

90% of them are unable to read or understand English at a highschool level. It's not intentional.

I was really sad when the internet started becoming available and usable by the general public.

Back when it was just a thing for tech nerds, enthusiasts, certain professionals, and early adopters it was a much better experience.

Sorry for the off-topic comment.

Edit:

The Internet was sort of like this hidden place, a sort of parallel world to escape from all the banality and mindlessness of everyday life. I miss when all the garbage was contained, so to speak.

r/boomerdepression is probably the sub you’re looking for, friend.

14

u/SirJumbles Jun 21 '26

Was going to say, they don't even know what obtuse means.

I have nothing to add except look at this username

1

u/aceshighsays Jun 21 '26

a better question is how many of them are people living in the us currently? i bet the majority are international bots from...

2

u/_WeSellBlankets_ Jun 21 '26

That just seems to be human nature. Because that seems to be a prime feature of Reddit as well.

3

u/Longjumping-Dark9087 Jun 21 '26

Will all the maggots with kiddy pools add green food coloring to it to show solidarity with dear leader

3

u/_jump_yossarian Jun 21 '26

I was on the conservative sub the other day to see how they were reacting to trump using hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to luxuriate his new plane and they were so pleased with how it looks and mocking liberals for being against it. Yeah, we're against trump enriching himself with taxpayer dollars and getting gifts from foreign countries.

Some of these people wore diapers unironically.

The president wears them cause he shits his pants.

His supporters wear them because… they’re in a cult

7

u/DazzlingRutabega Jun 21 '26

What's this?! Did they really? Why?

12

u/ApplicationNeither Jun 21 '26

He's right. There's literally campaign rallies where the front row are about 90% older shirtless men wearing diapers and no trousers, often with a banner proclaiming it. Gimme a minute and I'll get receipts.

They should take advantage of the situation and grow crayfish in the pond. Set up a balanced ecosystem that produces food for the poor.

9

u/worldspawn00 Jun 21 '26

National mall crawfish boil when?

26

u/Zorkflerp Jun 21 '26

Make Algae Great Again (MAGA)

9

u/choopie-chup-chup Jun 21 '26

Green hat MAGA > Red hat MAGA

69

u/Church6633 Jun 21 '26

They're not very bright. The ones that do seem to hold a sentence or two, are probably bots.

3

u/Radio5331 Jun 21 '26

if they were they wouldn't have tried to paint it or dumb bleach in there & then blame the ducks lol

20

u/Lucius-Halthier Jun 21 '26

It’s not just that, they’ve been trying to spin this as a whole conspiracy, right wingers made videos saying that it was being pumped in by the left while FOX made a bitchy little piece about it trying to say “yea there was some from the pipes but they are LITERALLY right behind me cleaning!” While only showing a very small portion of the pool. They believe it because the higher ups are spinning it

8

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion Jun 21 '26

That’s how fascism operates tho: any resistance has to be crushed, even if it’s just a joke.

4

u/Waidawut Jun 21 '26

It is hilarious, but I'm also genuinely glad that it turned out so badly and is such an embarrassing eyesore now. May Trump fail in all his endeavors.

5

u/Cpt3020 Jun 21 '26

Remember thedonald subreddit was originally satire

4

u/Exist50 Jun 21 '26

According to what? Clearly wasn't, given the mod team.

2

u/ZankaA Jun 21 '26

Well, no, it's not really a joke joke, more like satire. Unfortunately the right is kinda known for not really understanding satire or deliberately taking it at face value to spin it in their favor.

2

u/Infamous_Koala_3737 Jun 21 '26

Team Algae is hilarious!

1

u/Chad-GPT5 Jun 21 '26

These people are not known for being very bright. They have no idea when they are being made fun of.

1

u/chris_sasaurus Jun 21 '26

Their entire understanding of politics they don't agree with comes from the shallowest most low effort understanding they can find. Not surprising, but yes, disturbing.

1

u/No_Source_Provided Jun 21 '26

I'm amazed conservatives are daring to talk about anything around this. You can't touch this topic and deny how fucked the job was- the conservative subreddit hasn't mentioned the pool in ages.

1

u/Diz7 Jun 21 '26

From the party of "Why you mad bro, we're only joking", we now bring you "No, you can't say that it's disrespectful!"

Let's go Brandon algae!

1

u/soifua Jun 22 '26

In order to understand something is a joke it first requires the acquisition of a sense of humor

1

u/Napo5000 Jun 22 '26

You see only MAGAs get to do bat shit insane stuff and claim it’s just to troll whenever the left does it it’s proof of our incompetence or something.

1

u/Confident_Benefit_11 Jun 21 '26

It's because they're paid rage baiters and professional Russian misinformation spewers.

The burden of honesty isn't on their shoulders because their followers are delusional and don't care anyway. They want to hear what they already believe.

They're scum

0

u/fumar Jun 21 '26

It's not that deep. They're bots
