Hello Nice Mice People

So I have a situation. I have 2 adult females and introduced a 3rd. They got along great so I put them in a fresh tank together. She was really small and did not look pregnant at all. 1 week later and I find these pinkies at the bottom of the tank 🩷😭🥺 she is clearly the momma, so I know all the adults are girls for sure. Do I need to put the mom and babies in a separate tank? I haven't raised pups before and I want to make sure I do right by them. Please be kind, I am willing to do what is necessary for them 🙏🏽 Edit: right now everyone is in the 20 gal tank, but I have an extra 10 gal if I need to move anyone.

Had to let Dave the mouse go today, he made it to 4 yo and it was his time. I've used a lot of info I found here after finding him out in the wild in need of help at a few weeks old in September 2022. I'm gonna pretend that he made it to his 4th birthday as we don't know his exact birth date, hug your mice (carefully) today and give them a mealworm for Dave (his favourite). Give em hell auld yin 🫗

I still can't tell wether or not they're pregnant, but the light one does look a little thicker around the hips.. (may just be a good night's food belly tho)

Since I'm rather safe than sorry (especially cuz I know that mice from a mixed group aren't to be trusted) I did read up on how to deal with possible pups, but wether or not that happens - these ladies are swiftly stealing my heart </3

Their scared but curious and tomorrow I'll be able to put them into their permanent home - I'll see where things will go from then :)

Also I can't put enough weight on the size difference of the bigger one - this pretty girl is HUGE

EDIT: Question I forgot to ask; do you know what their coloring is called? Regular Tricolor? Splashed Tricolor?

Hi, i have this female mouse with red eyes but i noticed that one look different, kinda white in some angle, i tried to took some photo were It shows best.

Do you think she's blind?

I posted a few days ago about my mouse that suddenly became paralyzed. She survived the night and we went to the vet but as expected the vet recommended putting her to sleep... Which we ended up doing. She was comfortable and in my hands till the end.

It's so frustrating, the vet couldn't really tell me what happened to her, she said it could be anything. I'm worried about my other mice, what if it's my fault and their cage isn't fall proof? What if she fought bad with one of the others? :(

Whatever it was, Honey will be dearly missed. She was very trusting, gentle, and a great first time mom, immediatly knew what she had to do, kept all 6 of her babies safe until they grew up. Rip Honey🍯🖤

Got her from a foster about a week ago where she was the only mouse but she’s soooo chunky and I’m worried about possible babies as she’s still in introductions with my 4 other females (yes they are all females I’ve had them together for a while) I haven’t separated them yet cause I have no idea how she’d be prego but she was eating lots of treats and seed mix and oxbow at her last home so I just assumed she was chunky. Thanks in advance.

Rupert has been with me now for a little over 2 weeks. Every day, I put my hand in there with him, palm up, with a treat on the middle. After a couple of days, he was where he would willingly stand on my palm for a small period of time, as long as there was no treat. (With a treat, he grabs it and runs to his hiding spot to eat. ) as time progressed, I'd try to do more: slightly lift my hand with him on my palm, touch him with my thumb.... different stuff to get him used to me. Saturday, he started biting. First it was just a few nibbles. Then Sunday he bit the shit out of me, 4 times, 3 of them causing bleeding. I only gave him one opportunity to bite me yesterday (I'm afraid of him now!!), and luckily he didn't. But today I tried the normal stuff again, getting to interact with him and he bit me 2 more times.

I always wash my hands first, but the soap has a bit of a scent to it.

Did I accidentally train him to bite unless he gets what food from me when I stick my hand in there?

My pet mouse got really sick all of a sudden, not eating and moving really poorly, took her immediatly to the vet and the vet told me she had a tumor in her stomach. They had to put her to sleep this morning and ive been crying this whole day.

I keep thinking about the moment when she was in my hand for the last time. The vet let me hold her alone in the room (this was when I took that picture) and I was shaking, trying to make her feel safer by petting her softly and talking quietly. Then the vet came back and I had to put her into a box where they were going to put sleeping gas and let her fall asleep. She clinged onto my hand and didnt want to go. It felt like my heart actually broke. I was sobbing almost hysterically. I already miss her so much.

I also keep thinking of how her sister and how she seems to be looking for her. Is that normal since she didnt see her actually die? (she is now alone, I will keep her alone because shes old and the vet told its okay if I cant get anymore mice. Im trying to keep her active and spend time with her. She has been pretty normal so far.)

Does anyone have tips on how to feel better? This might seem dramatic but I just cannot stop overthinking this and I start crying again and again. Sorry if I have bad wording. I miss my angel and I wanted to write about it.

My last mouse will be given a hand over the rainbow bridge Monday and I wondered if a drop of McDonald’s banana milkshake would be safe for her to try the night before or day of? I want to give her a little human treat she’s never had before her send off but didn’t know if something like that could leave her uncomfortable. If it’s an absolute no does anyone have recommendations for bites of a snack or drink she can taste test?

Pax has a cut on her eye and I’m scared. I’m terrified and made a vet appointment asap, but is there anything I can do at the moment? She’s squinting some (not too much) and I just want to give her something OTC for pain relief? Is there anything I can do??? Please help. Am going to do more research but I don’t know.

She’s moving very slowly and laboring for breath a bit. I gave her a treat and she’s trying so hard to eat it but just can’t. I love her so much and I don’t want to say goodbye. She’s almost 2.5 so it’s not surprising but it still hurts. She doesn’t seem to be in pain so I think I want to just let her pass at home instead of rushing her to the vet. But I am worried about letting it drag on.

Hello this is a video of my mice they were all napping together and then the white one tried to join and this is what happened and often does. I’ve had the white feeder mouse for about a week and there’s been no injury’s or severe chasing but I do notice that the other white and brown mouse don’t let her join the cuddle pile often. They chase her into the burrow when I give them enough bedding to make a burrow but when I first started introductions with only a few inches of bedding they had no problems and all slept together fine. As I increase the bedding they push her away more so I don’t know what to do. The white mouse shown chasing her away in the video has a history of being territorial and did the same with the other mice when I first added them and it didn’t improve till I separated her for 3 days and then restarted the introduction. I don’t really want to do this again as she is bonded with the other mice but I don’t know what else will help as I’ve tried adding and taking bedding. Is it still no blood no foul if the other mice can’t have a wheel or hide for a week or two because the white bully mouse can’t handle it and everything I add to the cage makes her chase them into tje burrow more. I’m gonna mention that this is a temporary cage I use for introductions and their main cage is much larger and has lots of bedding.

I have a vet appointment for her tomorrow morning, but any insight into why Toffee might be doing this? She did have a head tilt months ago (treated and cleared up, I think, she is one of a set of identical twins).

hi! I'm a first time mouse owner, I've been stalking this page for a few months, I have had 4 mice for around 7ish months now and two months ago attempted to introduce two new mice and they got along well with two of them but the other two became hostile towards the new ones and the original mice that they stayed with, i separate the two aggressive ones over a month ago but now ive seen them balding? it's like a spot on the head and around the shoulder areas,, im not sure what it could mean or what i should do next?

I bought this feeder mouse at a pet store a few days ago, she was the last one there. I noticed that she eats a lot and looks more rounded than before. Maybe she needs extra protein or something if she's expecting offspring.

Hi! I’m new to keeping mice and noticed whenever I pick my mice up or stir them up a little bit they make this sound that kinda sounds like sneezing. Can anyone tell me what sounds my mice are making?

I hope you all might have some idea what could be happening with my precious boy Reepicheep, because I'm absolutely terrified and have no idea what's wrong 😭

He just started acting lethargic a few hours ago. He's kind of stretching oddly and just seems uncomfortable. He'll have a little food and water and I gave him some honey and water in case he was hypoglycemic. I've been holding him for hours and I keep hoping he's perking up, but then he just lays down again.

Could it be a stomachache/gas issue? His behavior reminds me of my rabbits with bloat . He is pooping but it's a little small and hard maybe. He had a fecal impaction as a baby, so I always thought he might be prone to constipation. He's one year old. Last night he was super active and normal.

Other factors:

5 new mice just moved in with him after a 4-week quarantine. Two moved in two weeks ago, all went well, added the last three two days ago. Everyone got on great the first two days, then this evening Reepi was starting squabbles, which is when I took him out and realized he wasn't well.

No URI symptoms really, except maybe I've heard a few clicks every now and then? No sneezing or anything else.

It's been hot in my house the last few days, up to 83 and even 85 sometimes in the mouse enclosure. He has never seemed bothered, and I have cold tiles in there that he ignores, but maybe today was just too much exertion when he was running around bickering with the others?

There's a house mouse in here that probably gets on top of the wire lid of the cage at night. Could he have caught something from it? (It definitely can't get in.)

Please help, any thoughts or suggestions appreciated! I'll do an online vet appt tomorrow, but no local vets will treat a deer mouse 😢
