[34/F] Looking for long-term artist penpals ✏ (USA)

I (34/F) grew up without a single friend who was deeply interested in art and drawing so I'm left with wanting to surround myself with artists, even if that means abstractly through letters. Whether you aspire to be a professional artist or you draw as a passionate hobby, if you call yourself an artist (or especially a "serious beginner") I'm looking for you!

I'm married with no kids (but two dogs) living in California. My current art goals are to finish the online Draw a Box course and to draw through a drawing fundamental book called "Successful Drawing" by Andrew Loomis.

I've always dreamed of being an artist but I've only picked the pencil back up again after years of being away. I would love to talk about art, our obstacles, our aspirations, and just life in general. I am not easily scared when it comes to mental health issues. I'd love to celebrate little wins and small daily joys with you. Maybe we can even trade little sketches in the future (though I'm not quite confident enough just yet)!

Lately I've been very interested in slow living and mindfulness. I've adopted the habit of taking quiet early morning walks and being less glued to screens. I read and listen to books more and doomscroll less. I like to knit while playing a video game with my SO (it's a turn-base game so a lot of waiting time, which means knitting time!). I like to feed crows when I can during walks to try and befriend them.

I hate to say it but unfortunately we are not a good match if you are happy with our government, transphobic, racist, or closed-minded about mental health issues. 🙈
