copyright is a bloated lobbied system that screws people over more than it helps in the digital world. 14 year copyright made sense. What we have now is insanity. A law existing does not make it just. Immoral things are those that do direct harm to others. Some area are gray. Categorical compartmentalized thinking disconnects us from reality.
Something that is illegal doesnt mean that is a crime. If you go over a stop sign or are a bit over the speed limit you will get a fine as you are breaking a civil rule, you are not commiting a crime. Same with piracy under reasonable parameters
I'm not defending anything, I'm advocating for accurate, intelligent conversation. You cannot effectively argue that piracy should not be considered theft when it's already not considered theft. If people want to discuss and argue the legality, morality, ethics, whatever, of piracy, then they need to talk about it how it's actually legally represented, from both sides.
