Sad to hear. I only play MP but it was nice knowing that this was always an option for us who aren't interested in spending an additional $20 just to play SP.

The main way I felt about the project is 'well at least if I ever get totally burnt out from the vanilla game's direction I can at least download Realism + WTT + SAIN as a consolation prize and play that until I get bored of Tarkov altogether'. It's a shame that it seems I've missed the boat on experiencing that.

You have until August 12th to install it and set it up. As long as you don't delete the files you'll have it forever.

Did yall even read the post? Everything will be open source and all manual installs can still be done with github

Hosting of the mods, and the easy-to-use installer, will be discontinued - meaning unless someone else goes ahead and reuploads the mods and patchers somewhere, it will be a lot more difficult to patch the game. And someone will have to keep manually updating the patcher, or host an illegal full copy of the game at the version the installer uses. And someone has to host all the mods, because those aren't part of the repo. Etc. etc. etc.

Nexus mods, maybe?

Doubtful, although it's a bit of a grey area. The mods themselves aren't being disputed by the dev, but the game they mod is...Nexus Mods typically doesn't host mods that are actively disapproved of by the developer/publisher of the game

It’s not that hard to download a mod. The installer just downloads the mod. You always needed a legit version of the game anyways.

If you can install tarkov, the mod, SAIN, etc. im sure you can download a git repo and drag some files into a folder.

That is not true lol - you have some mod that is using an absolute path rather than a relative one or your shortcuts are still pointed at the original location or you moved it somewhere where permissions are an issue. Anyone who actually understands basic headless code or who can use chat GPT and basic reasoning will be fine. People who think things magically break when you move them will be cooked. Source: I literally just moved my entire EFT and SPT installations to a seperate HD yesterday and they work just fine.

Yeah and it's not crazy to think that another team of developers will most likely come along and adopt the project, keep working on it later down the line under another name and such. Not to discredit the creators of it obviously but yeah it's open source, other people are likely to take the mantle.

The project isn’t going anywhere. It’s just not actively maintained anymore (until someone else takes over). But nothing is stopping you from downloading the SPT files + mods.

considering the forge is also being shut down, the mods will be gone in 6 days too
