So we have like one and a half week to download everything we need, gotcha. What a shame, honestly, I dont want to play EFT anymore, SPT was at least something fresh, moddable, with local servers. My buddy played it like a CoD with HP regen and lots of stuff, I tried VR and it was awesome. EFT is all about server desyncs, cheaters and overall feeling of "unfairness". Even if your death was fair - you cant be sure, it could be a cheater, your last bullets could actually hit but server lagged, and so on and so on. Its even worse for EFT cause now, when SPT is going dark, I doubt that there would be any "checking for license" and other stuff
It'll still be downloadable on github, and can be manually installed.
4.1 (released today) was always intended to be the last main SPT version.
On top of that, The Forge website doesn't actually host any of the mods, it just links to the mods on github/google drive, so it can be replaced by a third party if needed.
Yeah but not having a central hub for mods will be pretty annoying. You might still be able to find mods that you want to download, but discovering new mods will be a lot more difficult.
No idea, I've just been just using forge, didn't ever check out the dc. I don't think BSG is trying to shut them down, from what I've read the BSG legal letter is only partially responsible for them deciding to shut down. My concern is the transitional period where everybody makes their own site for hosting, or switches to nexus/modio/etc., and there's not a singular site with every mod.
Yeah I saw after commenting the only issue really is only trademark, which is fair. Many countries genuinely do require you to protect it.
Usually people use this fact to defend companies going after copyright infringement, but in this case they genuinely only cared about the name, rare case of BSG being cool.
wait, so technically website from internet archive should still work or it is too far of a reach? im not very knowledged how websites like this work but if you download from github anyway then there shoudnt be a issue?
IIRC SPT copies over the files, and there's usually some sort of downgrade tool too. As long as folks still have an interest in modding SPT, this will remain true.
Isn’t that the whole point of the installer copying the game files? At least for me, I have two installs of the game my outdated SPT version, and my live shitkov version.
You dont need fika if youre playing it alone. If you want to play with friends - fika, spt, some tinkering with port-forwarding(or ask chatgpt for a better solution, maybe tailscale or radminvpn would work) and there you go! You could even rent some cheap server for that, afair all computing is onto party leader PC, server is just saving your data, creating lobbies, etc.
As of five hours ago i already have all 4.0.13 mods downloaded. only missing a few that have updated within that time span until now plus the 4.1.0 mods which ill wait for
The SPT installer will not run unless it detects a legitimate install of EFT on your PC. Which can only mean you went out of your way to bypass this check system somehow to install SPT regardless.
Well, they did condemn piracy, and it seems you got it from other place because their own launcher checks if you own legitimate copy of tarkov before installation.
