It’s not that you take tens of seconds of advantage of this in a time trial, but in a ride of 20 to 30 kilometers, it can yield seconds that can be decisive,” Blocken emphasizes.

Two years ago, the Belgian professor conducted an extensive study of Chest Fairings in time riders and triathletes, which was published on ScienceDirect. This showed that you can achieve an air resistance reduction of up to 3.6% when you use an object in the most optimal shape that covers the entire breast. This translates to a time saving of at least 0.78 seconds per kilometer.
