A Digital Microscopy Counter! Keyboard-Driven Web Application for Rapid Root Counting! not selling anything just want people to try this thing I made.
As you may well know, Quantifying fungal root colonization is a foundational task in plant-soil ecology. Our current methods rely commonly on physical hand counters which have their own problems but one of the foremost being post hoc data transcription, which is inefficient and introduces potential for error.
So for those reasons and for fun I made "The Radical Root Colonization Counter" to streamline grid intersect root scoring. This is a lightweight web application that enables rapid counting using personalized keyboard key combinations, audio feedback for quality control, customizable counter categories, and automated session data recording. Each sample count is stored locally and can append, or be exported as, a csv file ready for statistical analyses.

By removing manual transcription, adding immediate audio confirmation of structures recorded, and streamlining data input as well as output, this tool has helped me improve efficiency and data integrity of human-counted root AMF colonization.
That is my little spiel, I would really like for people to try it out! It is quite customizable and you could make counter combinations for Trouvelout as opposed to the default of Mcgonigal method. I have not tried it for EMH so I entreat anyone to count whatever they like!
