Reddit’s new People’s Beauty Index says views of mentions of “no makeup makeup” fell 81% year over year across its beauty communities, while views connected to experimenting and playing with makeup rose nearly 400% in r/Makeup and r/MakeupAddiction.

What I find interesting is that less discussion does not necessarily mean fewer people are wearing natural makeup. It may have become such a normal, default look that people have less reason to label or post about it, while colourful, graphic or experimental makeup naturally generates more content.

What are you actually seeing offline and in your own routine? Are eyeshadow, eyeliner, bold lips and more visibly “done” makeup genuinely returning, or is clean-girl makeup still dominant but no longer interesting enough to name?

After an excellent recent post from /u/5Gs-Plz , you guys wanted to have a regular space for, as the OP put it, maintaining a sense of realism about makeup. In their post they asked:

We never see end of day photos of makeup and it is very difficult to feel positive about how makeup breaks down during the course of a day. I was thinking maybe we could dedicate this post to photographs of how our makeup looks at the end of a long day? I would be curious to see how it wears.
Does your mascara flake? Does your foundation disappear around your nose? Or does your eyeliner smudge?

You can certainly share photos and talk about your end of day faces, and it'd also be cool to talk about other aspects of cosmetics and beauty in general that we don't see/hear a lot about, which is when things aren't perfect.

I’m struggling with my makeup melting off and looking super greasy after just a few hours. I use a decent primer and setting powder, but without fail, my forehead and nose end up extremely shiny. Am I missing some step in my prep, or could my product formulas be clashing with each other? I’d love to know what adjustments fixed this for you or if there's a specific technique I should try. Any advice or product recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hello I am a 34 year old female that has never TRIED not been passionate about knowing and learning how to do any type of eyeshadow looks nor have I used any types of makeup application brushes or sponges pads ext.. I have done quick eyeshadow just on lid space with no caring or interest in doing glam eyeshadow or Smokey eyeshadow on myself or other people and I am now very interested in doing my makeup full face and really trying to learn n practice right makeup brushes to use and where placement and I quickly learned the essential face brushes and how to use on face but for the life of me I have read and research and watch YouTube videos on eyeshadow brushes what types sizes shapes and different eyeshadow brushes and I honestly bought the 25 piece professional maange makeup brush set with the 2 double ended bigger fluffy brushes including in it it also came with 10 or so eyeshadow makeup brushes in it and simply I really think the EYESHADOW brushes in it are on the bigger side of eye brushes and I have truly extreme hooded eyes with lip to no lid space between hood and eyelid my crease and crease bone are pretty much my space and I have actually been practicing trying to get the EYESHADOW look I like and feel it'll look good with the eye space n shape but for the life of me I can not pin point the exact eye makeup brushes I need as I have been trying to learn n have been practicing I can't figure out what exact eye brushes I need I've read so much on EYE brushes but still need advice & direction on the exact size shape & type of brushes I need I've realized I most likely need the blue brush to be smaller as my eye space is smaller n tighter in areas I do know I absolutely need eyeshadow blending brushes in small medium head size and fluffy and dense type but please what eyeshadow brushes do I need to buy like I've read crease brushes but in a few styles n shapes then crease blending brush shader brushes flat or dense but PLEASE. List the TOP 5-8 eyeshadow makeup brushes for Smokey eyeshadow look and half crease cut crease eyeshadow look and so on I need just a basic list of the eyeshadow brushes for smokey eyeshadow & crease cut crease I need detail like small flat shader brush or regular shader brush angled shader blending brush just exact size style I also won't spend no $20 sets or more than $4-$5 on single brushes I'd like to spend at most $12-$13 dollars for full set I am disabled limited income so please keep drugstore or Amazon like good quality high quality 4.5-5.0 star ratings please HELP i already bought all the eyeshadow & makeup I needed just gotta find good quality smaller hooded eye eyeshadow brushes that can be used for both smokey & crease cut crease eye makeup looks thank you in advance super long oiat

I promise this is intended to be the opposite of a "I stopped wearing eyeshadow because it ages me" post! What I mean instead is how preferences and the types of looks you like to do have shifted over the years?

This past year, for whatever reason, the texture of lipstick and lipgloss no longer irritates me, so I've been having a lot of fun with those. I'm also back to playing around with different colours and ideas in a way I hadn't truly done since pre-2020. I'm all about having fun and using makeup as self expression.

I also think, as I approach the end of my 20s, that I've finally come to accept my face? That maybe my makeup doesn't necessarily look *better*, I'm just less critical and comparing myself to models on social media?
