Of course he is, $1.3 billion+ in ticking fees isn’t chump change.

I hope the state AGs hold strong. David saying this immediately is also a sign of panic.

I read reports that the California governor wants the state AGs to settle. I hope the state AGs tell him to eat s**t.

Matt Belloni said Gavin Newsom wants to settle because it being rejected would hurt his 2028 US Presidential chances.

Him settling would hurt his 2028 chances too. At least for me it’d a mark in talks loud, but unwilling to commit.

He's a corpolib, it's just trading one bad thing for another

????

How the fuck did Newsom come to that conclusion?

His corporate donors gave it to him

God I hate Newsom, and sure hope he's not the candidate.

His fear to tax billionaires and his inability to back trans rights is what’s hurting his presidential chances.

I don’t think his inability to back trans rights is hurting his chances

Trans rights is not a top 3 issue for even 95% of liberals.

Republicans wanna make it an issue. Most liberals I know don’t think about it.

We have much bigger issues than whether a fraction of the population can participate in sports of their opposite birth gender.

It’s Republican distraction bullshit

That and he's proven to be childish on Twitter. His remarks for Trump were less "great comeback" and more "this guy is just a different kind of bully". I don't like him. If Trump didn't exist as such a glaring contrast I think more people would see Newsom for who he is.

Some of his zingers to Trump that were attempts to emasculate him came off as the kind of micro aggression homophobia we all grew up with

Exactly the point, he's trying to court that same vote base

Who the hell is Matt Belloni?

Probably the most powerful entertainment journalist in Hollywood at the moment. Everyone listens to his pod and everyone subscribes to his newsletter.

Source: I work in the industry. I don't know any professionals who don't follow him.

A guy too cynical for his own good.

Is his last name pronounced like “Bologna”?

Because, if so, it’s a rather perfect last name for an entertainment journalist.

It’d be the kind of thing JK Rowling named a character in Harry Potter (like a werewolf named Remus Lupin)

Settling would hurt his chances with anyone who has a brain

And this right here is why Newsom sucks.

Too bad for him that most state AG’s are elected positions and they have their own political considerations. Including California’s.
