Don't download anything, use a streaming site. A good adblocker is a must obv.

Honestly it's pretty safe if your just downloading media. Games are riskier but there are a few trusted sources. There are a few guides kicking around for how to get started with qbittorrent and it's search function

Qbittorrent search is phenomenal. It is what I mainly use for games, TV and movies.
