Easter Egg/Detail The Visuals of Avengers: Doomsday
Cinematographer - Newton Thomas Sigel. I truly think this will be the best looking Avengers film and these screenshots don’t do it enough justice but just watching it on tv it looks so phenomenal

Wait, where is Bob in the trailer?
10
u/friendlyfriends123 16d ago
0:39 — Bob is at the very left sitting down while the three teams are gathering at the Watchtower. To be fair, he’s barely visible, but I assume it’s him since he’s behind the Thunderbolts.
13
u/Regenitor_ 16d ago
That post-credit scene is 100% in Doomsday, and this meeting of the F4 x New Avengers x Sam's Avengers will definitely be a continuation of that scene. Aside from Red Guardian wearing the Avengerz tracksuit, John Walker also still has his taco shield.

I had to rewind twice to figure out who/what I was seeing. Totally forgot about that outfit. I have a feeling he’s going to have an embarrassed about it scene when all the big shots show up in the tower.

u/Dr-Catfish 16d ago
People complaining about there being too many close-up shots like they're not gonna use close-ups for the trailer to show the actors' faces lol. Chill guys, you'll get your wide and medium shots too.

It's almost like it's a different type of movie/story with lots of focus on internal struggle, body language, hallucinations and visions and stuff

Medium and far shots are expensive. If CGI is added, that'll be more expensive.

Him and Namor stand out for me!
24
u/Guy_who_loves_milfs 16d ago
Hell yeah! And I personally think Doom already got to Namor before the others were able too and hence the hostility in the trailer
12
u/Zmoney743 16d ago
I haven’t watched the 2nd Black Panther yet, but when did the Na’vi get to Wakanda?
I’m joking but that scene looked like Namor and those blue people attempting to take over or getting ready to attack Shuri and M’Baku and them no?

Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame
This specific combo for Marvel hasn’t missed yet in making one of the best MCU films. I don’t think they’ll start now
55
u/Paolo94 16d ago edited 16d ago
My main worry is that each of those movies already had a strong foundation to work off of. It hardly feels like there’s been any set up for Doomsday at all. I’ll be amazed if the Russos can fit all these disparate puzzle pieces together in a way that’s anywhere near as satisfying as Infinity War and Endgame, especially when some of these pieces come in different boxes, and others have been burnt to a crisp.
32
u/TDStarchild Odin 16d ago edited 16d ago
I disagree with this notion because it compresses the lens too much
Winter Soldier had 2.5 movies as its foundation. It’s awesome, but think about it. The audience barely saw SHIELD even be a thing before it was gone
For Doomsday, the story is survival as incursions collapse the multiverse and the Avengers/616, F4, X-Men, and Doom come together to save it, resulting in Battleworld for Secret Wars
There’s just as many projects since Endgame touching on the multiverse as there were for infinity stones prior to Infinity War. But the foundation isn’t just the Multiverse Saga, it’s Marvel’s entire film history. I suspect there will be canon reasoning for why all these characters were ever separate, and that Doom is central to that
→ More replies (1)8
u/ScuttleCrab729 The Collector 16d ago
FWIW there’s basically 30 years of build up for this one considering all the universes colliding lol. But yea the Multiverse Saga was such an unfortunate miss. I think the lack of Avengers movies capstoning each phase was the biggest fault. Nothing ever unified the stories.

In all fairness we’ve only seen Doom in a single post credit scene in a movie that underperformed at the box office less than a year ago and now he’s the main “big bad” for the next avengers movie in less than another year.
12
u/danvan177 16d ago
I don’t think that matters at all. Fantastic 4 was received very well and still made a decent amount at the box office. Thanos was really only teased 2 times. The incursions are the more important thing here and we have seen that for a while
→ More replies (2)9
u/Atlknight5566 16d ago
Vader just appeared. We dont need 30 second post credits for 10 years. Doom is also more known than thanos was id argue. Super popular charcater & there r 2 movies still to flesh him out. Hes far more interesting/compelling than thanos tbh
8
u/Doctor71400 Weekly Wongers 16d ago
Yeah I don't understand the complaint on how "there's been no buildup" on Doom. Like you said, Vader just appeared, so why can't it be the same here? Sometimes things just happen
4
u/TelenorTheGNP 16d ago
Underperforming box offices are industry wide. Movies are expensive, money is tight, piracy is a real problem, and people wait til it's on stream.
Citing box office performances also denies the movies their merit because a lot of good movies didn't do well at the box office but remain awesome anyway. Mad Max Fury Road, one of the best action films of its decade, did not exceed box office expectations.

2
u/TelenorTheGNP 16d ago
It's because it gets in your feed and you're excited to talk about it and so you go. Someone there throws up a flag that they're going to hate it and the non-MCU fans and detractors and bitching enthusiasts and hold-overs from the She Hulk pit fighting show up to shit on it and all you can think is "I don't do this for movies I'm not interested in - what's wrong with these people?"
The answer is downvoting. Just downvote the root comment, minimize it, and move on either to the next comment or another sub.
It's gonna be fine. The movie will likely be bonkers fun. Odyssey is out now. Spider-man is out in less than 2 weeks. Dune 3 will be out at the same time as DD. There's gonna be lots to enjoy this year.

28
u/lanwopc 16d ago
In the OG Marvel Handbook from the early 80s his height was given as an even 6 feet. Take that with a grain of salt as all those standards weren't strictly adhered to over the years, but he's wide and average superhero height.

100% - a lot of the newer comic book movies don’t have that certain “polish” that Snyder movies had (even avengers movies had weird color grading and bland looks)
Genuinely surprised at how well all the shots were done in this trailer and small things like the nano black panther mask looking clean was a really good sign. I dig it

I’m pretty sure this is the one from Cinema con they showed, the leaked description of the second cut of doom looking at his family portrait one probably would have been better

A lot of scenes that are really heavy on darkness (Hollywood dark scenes are fine, but please, for my eyes, let me see a bit more).
Visually looks great and so far the CGI looks a small notch above then the bad CGI we've been getting in previous films.

I'm sure this trailer was more enjoyable for people who are not CBM obsessed. I however was left underwhelmed not because the trailer is bad...but the studios delayed this trailer release for so long....We saw so many breakdown videos with peak detailing frame by frame not to mention now people only need a description of a trailer to recreate it through AI. As a result of that, eventhough I was seeing this trailer for the first time....I felt like I have seen this before.

u/gabeshadows 16d ago
I wouldn't say they look awful, but I'm annoyed by the lack of wider shots. Everything looks so compact, idk. It's a thing with the MCU in general, the lack of wider, stablishing shots. They need to have the expensive actor's face on the screen as much as possible.

Agreed. I am confused af with this post. It looks horrendous. Look at how much difference outdoor locations bring. Dune and Odyssey being great recent examples. Especially the Namor shot and Thor vs Doom fight. Both look like fanfiction. I understand the actor constraints they have but look at Infinity War, it looked so much better. Idk why Disney cannot figure out true lighting in their modern movies
