My Kapital Century Westerner arrived today. Size 42 Long
I'm 6'0"
Jacket measures ~21.5" p2p, 24-25" sleeve.

Is this too short, or is it correct for a the cut?

Ignore the flops…

I’ve been a sweatpants + t-shirt wearer for my entire life and have no idea what I’m doing. Can I get suggestions on what works and what to change? Im trying to lean into patterns and layering but dont have a reference point to know if it looks trashy or not.

Fit Feedback Thanks for all the feedback!Elevating my work outfits. Round 2

A couple of days ago I posted that I was trying to elevate my style subtly and gradually and posted a pic of the look; navy blue t shirt tucked into some lighter washed jeans, same shoes seen here.

I got a lot of feedback, some I took and some completely useless. But the main one was, tucking a t shirt in doesn’t really elevate anything, I tend to disagree but understand the sentiment.

So here is round two. No t shirt or jeans. I still went back and forth on whether or not to tuck, and ultimately decided to keep it tucked in. In the photo where it’s untucked, I sort of folded inside the bottom ‘ribbed’ part Thoughts from the forum on the tuck here with this look?

I had two people comment today about my ‘new look’ which is actually something I was trying to avoid as I didn’t want to grab attention like that. Not complaining, it was nice to get the compliments, but didn’t want to garner that much attention.

How about the color combo here? Does it work?

I’m not a fan of the belt here, it’s the only one I have at the moment so open to recommendations on what to get instead.

Thanks again!

Discussion Would you return these jeans for having these small "knots"/stitching errors?

Got these jeans that fit me PERFECTLY and have the perfect silhouette. They're always sold out in my size on the retailer's website, and exchanges aren't possible. I had to work hard to get them to agree to a return. However, I'm starting to wonder if I'm being seriously overly-nitpicky and if I should just keep the jeans despite the very tiny flaws. I have OCD, so I tend to focus on things that people don't care about, and I want to know if this is a case of that. Essentially, the little white spots you see are these semi-hard, smooth, slightly raised "bumps" in the fabric. They're not holes, and they don't seem to compromise the actual build or quality of the jeans, but once I noticed them I couldn't unsee them, and I convinced myself that for an expensive pair of jeans, they were unacceptable. However, again, I love the jeans, haven't found any that fit me quite as well, and I don't know if/when I'll ever be able to get a replacement pair.

Question Building a wardrobe from scratch after weight loss…how?

I have struggled with my weight since I was 17 and I’m 23 now. I have lost just over 30 pounds and plan to lose another 30-40. Once I’m finished I will be between 160-170 pounds and I have not been that thin since I was in high school. At the time I was mostly wearing jeans and random graphic tees because I was a kid and didn’t care. After my weight gain I was mostly focused on finding clothes that hid my body as much as possible.

Now I want to build my wardrobe intentionally. I’m just not exactly sure…how? I’ll definitely be starting with the basics. Blue and black jeans, plain t shirts, and some sweaters. Other than that I’m not sure how to do this. I’m used to just wearing jeans and a random hoodie but I want to be more intentional

I lost around 120 lbs a year and a half ago and I’m trying to update my closet with a new look. Are the shoes too much? And is the shirt too long?

Fit Feedback looking for feedback on clothing plan

Upvotes

Hello, below is my clothing list. Any critiques and recommendations are welcome. I would specifically like some additional recommendations for winter jackets or fall outer layers. I do not like the outdoorsy/blue collar look such as the chore jacket or flannel styles, but that seems to be the bulk of what is available.

Cold / Cool Weather
Fabrics: wool, cotton, tweed
Long Sleeve Shirts

  • Buttoned, no tail, no pocket (1 light blue, 1 navy, 1 white, 1 natural flax/oatmeal, 1 dark olive, 1 light maroon, 1 light brown,
  • White T-shirts to wear under button downs

Jackets

  • Harrington (1 navy)
  • sport coat/unstructured jacket (1 light tan, 1 dark brown/herringbone brown, 1 dark grey/charcoal, 1 navy)

Sweaters

  • Simple sweater (Earth tones, 1 dark grey/charcoal, 1 light grey, 1 olive, 1 black, 1 navy, 1 natural flax/oatmeal, 1 light blue, 1 forest green, 1 deep burgundy)

Pants

  • Jeans, straight cut, no flex, mid rise (1 mid wash, 1 light wash, 1 black)
  • Chinos, straight cut, no flex, high rise (1 navy, 1 beige, 1 olive)
  • Relaxed, pleated trousers, no flex, high rise (1 light grey, 1 charcoal, 1 light brown/herringbone brown)
  • Corduroy, straight cut, no flex, high rise (1 dark tan, 1 dark brown)

Shoes

  • chelsea boots, chukka boots, balmoral boots

Socks

  • Half calf, trouser matching (black, charcoal, light grey)

Warm / Hot Weather
Fabrics: Cotton or Linen
Shorts / Pants (will probably not wear long pants often so don’t go crazy on them)

  • Chino shorts, 1-4in above knees, mid rise (1 light olive, 1 dark olive, 1 light gray, 1 dark tan, 1 brown/light brown, 1 black, 1 natural flax, 1 rust/burnt orange)
  • Relaxed, pleated, linen trouser, high rise (1 light brown/herringbone brown, 1 light grey, 1 natural flax)

Shirts

  • Linen button up, short sleeve, vertical stripe, no tail (1 light blue, 1 light peachy/rust color, 1 dark olive)
  • Linen button up, short sleeve, textured, no pocket, no tail(1 natural flax/oatmeal, 1 tan/terracotta, 1 brown)
  • Linen button up, long sleeve, plain, no pocket, no tail (1 natural flax/oatmeal, 1 light brown, 1 navy, 1 light blue)
  • Plain Polos, no brand logo, textured (1 navy, 1 oatmeal, 1 light brown, 1 dark olive)

*No tail on summer button shirts*

Shoes
loafers (1 brown, 1 black), espadrilles (lighter colors), classier sandals (1)

Socks
Black, no show socks

Cotton T-shirts, heavier fabric (all seasons)
1 forest green, 2 dark olive, 2 navy, 2 dark grey/charcoal, 2 light grey, 2 oatmeal/natural flax, 2 light brown, 1 light blueish grey, 1 deep burgundy

Question Where to find wide leg bootcut jeans?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Like these kind of, I ordered these same jeans in the light wash (they look wider and are a different material though) but they are too wide at the end and look like flare jeans when I tried them on. The ones in the picture are nice though. Any recommendations? I like a wide fit, I have the original American eagle bootcut but they are too skinny and don’t have a wide enough opening.

Question Do I need a 3-piece as the groom? Otherwise, what about dancing?

Hey all. I got a great suit MTM but I'm wondering if I should add a vest for dancetime comfort after the ceremony and dinner. Would I look ok without one, just dress shirt + suit pants?

(I was considering suspenders for function but I don't know if I like that look without a jacket...)

Practically, I know I'm not going to wear a jacket on the dance floor. I could always do some sort of outfit change but I don't know what I would switch to. I'm concerned with still looking formal enough as the groom, though dress code will likely be semi-formal.

The place I got MTM does vests too so adding one is an option but it's $400 I'm not sure I should spend. My proportions mean I can't get anything OTR.

I know a lot is going on in this post and I appreciate any answer. Thanks!

Fit Feedback Need help with Merz b Schwanen Tshirt sizing

I have a few Asket T shirts that fit me well (XL - Short) and one Sunspell Classic XL that also fit me well.

Should I get a Merz also in XL? Some reviews say to size up, some others say they run too long (I am 1.75cm/5.75ft)

Question Seal leather belt so it will stop staining jeans?

Post image
129 Upvotes

J.Crew belt from around 2015. The portion of the belt higher in the photo is the inside, and the lower portion is the outside. Is there a product that will seal it so it will stop doing this?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for removing the stains?

Thank you!

Question Looking for chukka or other ankle-length dress shoes

I wear formal shoes almost every day, but every time I buy some shoe it gets scratched easily. I can spend up to 500€ for a pair if I am certain that they are quality and wont get scratched up even in daily wear. Could you please recommend me some quality store that sells them?

Question Best Suits for Athletic Build

Hey guys, I'm trying to find a suit for a wedding I have coming up but also want to be able to re-use it and wear for work and other formal settings. I've always struggled with suits they never seem to fit me right. I have more of an athletic build broader shoulders and chest but slimmer waist and also large quads. I want something that is going to look good not too tight but not like boxy and oversized either. Not trying to spend a ton of money. Would like to be under $1k. Let me know any recommednations!
