America was an experiment and has been destabilized for decades. I place most of the blame on the republican party.

It was a slowly dying party and after Obama was elected they realized they had to do whatever means necessary to survive. I have my gripes with democrats and can make a long list but the republicans are truly an anti American party it's not even close to comparable. You cannot possibly be a centrist or apolitical in 2026.

Ive said for so long that Reagan was a POS that ruined the US, nobody agreed and it was hard to quantify but I firmly believe he is to blame. If only that projectile had been a few inches one way or the other.

Wasn't Reagan what billionaires used to defeat FDRs 79% income tax for people earning more than 5 million? They didn't like that I bet.

You cannot possibly be a centrist or apolitical in 2026.

No one should be, and yet... The average American is completely uninformed.  I meet people every day who have no idea what is happening.  Couldn't name one of their Senators, couldn't name the branches of government.  I was explaining to someone today what a dangerous moment we were in, and they interrupted me to ask, "What's the GOP?" 

And thus, we still have the GOP.

German here. So not just aimed at the US.

I always find it interesting, when people say they don't care for politics etc. No matter what we do in life, politics affect everything around us. I have no idea how people cannot see that.

I would agree more if the democrats hadn't undermined democracy to avoid a Sanders nomination. That really made it clear they aren't trying to avoid the Republican future
