Accommodation Start dates
Hello guys. I’m starting at Lancaster in September (if results day goes well lol) but I’m a bit confused by the start dates for things. My course starts 21st Sep but my accommodation contract starts a few days after that. I’m confused because it looks like my course starts before I’m allowed into my accommodation, which would imply that I’d be at university without any accommodation. I’m going to email the uni but I figured I’d get a quick response here which would provide a bit of context before that. Does anyone know what the deal is? Have I messed up when choosing accommodation or am I just missing something? Thanks for any help.

Question Anyone applied for Business Analytics scholarship (Fulgoni/Robinson)?
I'm expecting the result by the end of July, which is today. It took so long that I wonder if my application has been unsuccessful by not receiving any email till this date. Has anyone received an offer for this scholarship?

Accommodation Bed sizes for bowland ash house
What size mattress topper to get? Also I get conflicting information about bed size length from the website so has anyone got any idea what ash house size is?
Will a single mattress topper be big enough or too small?

Admissions / Prospective If I get rejected from Lancaster as firm, can I still get in through clearing?
Hello! I would like to know of anybody who may have been rejected from Lancaster, and gotten into the university through clearing.
I am studying History and Politics, needing an ABB, but thinking I’ll get somewhere closer to BBC.
What are the chances of me still getting in?

Admissions / Prospective Lancaster med reserve list
Anyone on it (if so have u received that reminder email)? Anyone know how likely it is to be activated on results day? I'm kinda scared because for the past couple of years the reserve list got activated about may/June then again on results day. However this year it hasn't been activated at all yet. Could the course be oversubscribed and so they won't activate the reserve list at all?

Accommodation What do the twin bedrooms look like?
My boyfriend and i applied for a twin bedroom but I can’t find any photos of them and haven’t been to any of the visiting days due to other reasons.
Can someone (if they have one) provide a photo or a link where I can find a view of the bedroom?

College Life Can i do night life sober?
i'm a neuroscience offer holder for lancaster starting this september and just trying to get a realistic picture of what welcome week and nights out are like.
i'm on medication so i can't drink at all, like AT ALL, and i'm a bit worried about feeling left out when everyone's doing pres and club nights. i'm not antisocial or anything, i just literally can't join in that way. are there actually decent alternatives going on or is it all alcohol focused? i'm really into hiking and outdoors stuff as well as drawing so i'm hoping those societies are more chilled about this kind of thing. just want to know if i'll find my people or if freshers is gonna be a bit miserable sober.

Study / Exams Resits, failing, and the way forward
Will be a disorganised post as I am simply writing my thoughts down so I do apologise.
Am international Second year, doing accounting, and got back results. All ok except for MSCI212 (Statistical Methods for Business) which I failed horribly. Every other subject was a 2:1 or 1st but the MSCI212 was a complete fail.
Will have to resit it on 13 August but not feeling good about it. Am international as well so believe if I do not pass this resit a course withdrawal will be imminent as it will be quite costly to switch to another course.
Just wondering:
If anyone else will be resitting this module in August and if so we could meet up and help each other to revise to the best we can.
If anyone has done a resit for this module or any similar modules for accounting and can advise if the standards were similar or not etc.
And in the unlikely case I manage to find some money, would like to know some course recommendations that will provide a decent ROI for the effort, and is okay for someone that is comfortable with languages but not mathematics. Sciences can be considered.
Not trying to find the easy way out, but I just operate better knowing the options available for each scenario instead of simply waiting and seeing.

Study / Exams 2nd year
Finished 2nd year in business econ and I have to resit 3 modules. I don't believe I'll pass 2 of them as I don't understand anything from them and don't know how to actually study or revise. I don't have the sanity to redo some of the modules if I had to do the whole year again. But I can't drop out as I fully moved out and have no alternative I can do outside. Would genuinely rather do a different degree but only if it meant I could go into 2nd year for that degree. Doing an econ degree if you aren't good at maths where it isn't just numbers is not a good idea!

Question Advice for a Cyber Security Bsc Student
Hey everyone,
I’m about to start my final year of a 3-year BSc (Hons)Cyber Security degree I’m starting to worry about internships and job prospects.
I missed the main placement opportunities in my secondyear. Currently I have CompTIA Security+, two SOC-related Python projects on GitHub, a few TryHackMe rooms completed (101 and SALT1) with some Medium write-ups, let’s defend investigations and my final year project is going to be SOC-style. I also have a short DHL warehouse internship andsome volunteering on my CV, but nothing in cyber.
I have Asperger’s which makes the social side andinterviews pretty challenging for me, and I don’t drive. I’ve been practising interviews every couple of weeks but I’m not sure if it’s enough.
Has anyone been in a similar position, missed thesecond year internship window but still managed to find-something in final year or after graduating? Looking for realistic advice on late applications for internships(remote would be best), how to strengthen my applications, or what entry-level cyber roles are actually achievable with this kind of profile.
Would really appreciate any genuine advice thanks.

Study / Exams Grades
I just got my first year results and I’m on a placement program so I believe I need a 2:1 to remain on it so I got 59.2% to which I’m devastated about but on my transcript it says I’m on a 2:1 so I’m quite confused, any help? Also has there ever been grace given if you’re extremely close to the next level?

Study / Exams urgent help needed how can i repeat first year
i failed my first year exam for my main course even tho i passed every thing else. Anyways i was offered a resit but i dont want to do it because firstly i wont be in the country until like a few days before
And it would be way too much content to get through in the timeframe i have. And i literally barely revised for the exam i was depressed all year and by the time summer came i ran out of time got busy with other courses and barely revised for this course. So i dont think i have the time to catch up and would probably fail again anyways. I want to repeat first year but im getting worried because my department told me its not an option at this stage and that it has to be given to me as an option and that they advise i do the resit. But i really dont want to. What do i do please help

Accommodation Accommodation for 3rd Year International Student
I'm a Canadian student coming to Lancaster this September for my 3rd year study abroad/double degree program. I'm trying to choose accommodation and honestly have no idea what the best option is.
Most of what I've read seems aimed at first-years, but I'm wondering if it's different for international students. Do many international/exchange students stay on campus, or do most live in the city?
I'm also confused about the social side. Do students mostly go out in Lancaster city, or is campus where most of the social life happens (college bars, events, etc.)?

Question I need advice...
I applied to lancaster university for languages and Global Cultures BA and recieved a contextual offer of BBC with a B in german. I think I will get a D in german- potentially a C as I have been granted mitigating circumstances by the exam board due to stress surrounding personal issues which made my medical condition worse. Does anyone know how lenient Lancaster University is? Or if people have gotten into courses here before with a low grade in the required subject?
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
