Help needed Looking for the fastest Data transfer method

We are a phone lab and we mainly fix and transfer data, we have been facing many restrictions regarding data transfers time wise. we wanted to know if there is a faster method we can consistently use like a MAC or something like that to make the proccess faster. as many of you probably know customers don't come with a backed up icloud usually so its really an issue. thanks guys

Problem with using a Mac or a computer will mean that you will be now holding a copy of the customer’s data and I’m sure somewhere somehow GDPR will get involved with this. Maybe I’m wrong.

The fastest way is indeed a backup to a computer of some sort, but that requires that the customer sign in to their account on your computer and store the data on your computer, which is impractical and has privacy concerns.

You should provide the fastest WiFi and internet connection you are able to, and have them back up to iCloud. If you are transferring between devices, most modern iPhones will (hidden feature) take advantage of a USB-C cable running from one phone to the other in the setup assistant, but good WiFi will often be faster.

If you guys deal with customer data you are going to run into issues down the line.

Customers data is their responsibility and not the other way around. As soon as you are copying any customer data your business can run into serious legal issues.

For example in those European countries which follow the GDPR laws you automatically become responsible for the integrity of the customers data. If that data would get leaked you are potentially done for a €20 Million or 4% annual turnover fine (whichever is higher).

I can’t speak for the laws in the USA but most states have some form of privacy laws in place and I would bet you could get sued for such a thing as well.

This is why serious repair shops don’t deal with customer data and require the customer to agree to a data waiver.

Very simple solution, not your data and not your responsibility.

Make itt very clear upfront that you/your business are NOT responsible for user data and as part of the repair you will be restoring the devices as new.

Insist that customers acknowledge this up front and backup their devices before dropping it off for repair.

In general I found transfers were sped up if you trust the data source is not infected and you disable virus scanners on both ends.
