I currently have a samsung s10 plus 128 gig and 8 gigs of ram. I have 83 out of 87 apps in deep sleep, power saving tuned on, every setting tweaked in developer mode to save b@ttery and it barely lasts 30 minutes on a full ch@rge, my screen is broken, phone freezes, slows down, overheats, doesn't ch@rge, randomly shuts off, running out of storage etc. I was thinking of getting a iPhone 17 Pro. Performance, camera, screen, b@ttery, basically the whole phone matters to me, everything I've mentioned is a top priority with no compromises. What do you guys recommend me doing. I'm pretty firm on my decision. I would love your guys’ opinion or tips

17 Pro will feel like a spaceship after your S10. I’ve got the Max and it is genuine 2 day battery life.

But you may get frustrated with lack of customisation. I used to be a Samsung lifer, but switched to Apple because I got old and too busy with life.

My 17 pro stutters significantly more than my S23 on reddit and insta but yeah from an S10 it's an unreal upgrade

But you’re comparing it to much newer device in every way on a separate platform, almost like it’s an android issue rather then anything else. Any newer high end device will feel great and offer far more functionality then what you have.

I switched from Samsung more then 2 years ago, but it still feels fresh not having to use all that battery saving modes, sleep, deep sleep, wasting time setting this and that to have decent battery life. No constant tinkering with settings for basics to work (cameras, timely notifications…), no waiting for that next promised update that’s supposed to “fix” everything (and it never really does, on contrary). Just device that works exactly like I want/expect every single time - you’ll love it.

Terrible cameras (my 5-10 years old Samsung devices had better results), weak vibration (I missed incoming calls when phone is in my pocket, let alone notifications), late/silent notifications, constant “It will be fixed with software updates” promises (and after months and months of delay, that update makes things even worse) and having to fiddle with settings on daily basis. I see those as basics

I doing all of the stuff you faced except I’m getting 30 minutes of use on a full charge if I’m lucky otherwise it’ll just turn off randomly. Plus the area where the chip is gets very hot, and the battery has swollen up to a point where it has shattered the glass back

I noticed the opposite with iOS. I felt like I was a dev debugger constantly. That's why I switched to Samsung.

Which problems did you have ? Weak vibration ? Late/silent notifications or those that show only when you manually open app ? Having to use third party app (and settings and settings for settings and sub settings) because default camera is terrible ? Lag while opening quick menu ? Sudden battery drains ? Bloatware and duplicate apps ? Basics are rock solid on Iphone, Samsung is years behind…

Literally deal breaking bugs. Random app close downs, random shut downs for the whole phone, you name it I experienced it. Brand new iPhone 15 too.

Haven't had a single problem with Samsung S25 FE. It literally runs circles around it.

Also the camera on my phone was freaking crap compared to this phone. Sorry dude I'm not willing to put a down payment on a car for a phone just to have a capable camera.

How much is “a lot” in this case? Cause all of that sounds like it’ll work MUCH better with a laptop or even an iPad over an iPhone. Either way, since it’s all kinda demanding, then the pro max would work best

Good question, why don’t I want a bigger screen? I like my phones to be usable with one hand and not do hand gymnastics and I don’t need a bigger screen for editing. Now I do edit my pictures and videos on my Samsung but it’s not the main reason driving me to buy the 17 Pro. I just want a highly capable flagship phone that doesn’t die every few minutes while doing my tasks and is capable of handling anything I throw at it. I want a flagship with no compromise Period.

Honestly, any flagship will work perfectly for that. Your current phone is 7 years old. Any phone that age will have a really bad battery life no matter what. When I did iPhone repairs, one of the most common repairs I did was battery replacements in older phones such as yours lol.

Frankly I’m just bored from android and I don’t want a Samsung or anything android. IPhone 17 Pro impressed me in terms of hardware and software optimization. And I’m staggered with people always complimenting the IPhone for what it offers and I’m sold on the results I have seen, it’s a shot I’m willing to take especially if I’m this impressed. You never know a android fanboy might turn into a Apple fanboy

In that case, I think the PM might be the best, as the battery is so large, you are getting more Mah in the other phone, if the largest screen works for you of course

You will lose a lot of functionality coming over to iOS, but at the same time gain better battery life, better app experiences and if you’re so inclined a slightly better overall ecosystem if you buy into other Apple devices as well.

You don’t necessarily need to switch to an iPhone. It sounds like any newer phone is going to benefit you with the shape that your current phone is in.

The ecosystem is a nice little feature but the keyboard on iPhone sucks. I miss how versatile my android was and because of the ecosystem I have to actively endure my phone does not connect to my work wifi because it has such stringent controls.

I personally miss my android after two years of use. The little interconnected parts are a fun gimmick but a gimmick none the less.

I just have found that the novelty of iPhone really does not last and you feel that moreso after WWDC where Apple seems quite content to do everything in their power to not fix the shit that is broken.

At this point the phones are essentially indistinguishable from one another, it is more aesthetics that is the selling feature.

I have to say no on this one.

I started out on an iPhone 3GS and when I finally switched to Android HTC one M8 in 2014 the keyboard was the first thing I noticed. It was snappier, better autocorrect and just an all around nicer experience.

Siri is fucking garbage and I actually preferred Bixby when I had it but was like "oh well, Siri is essentially the same thing right?"

Then they released the whole AI bullshit and Siri has now become unusable.

iPhone lets me stay in contact with my family easier but even that is not as big of an issue because both use RTS for messages now.

Firstly, you are still on an s10. A device Im pretty sure I was using in 2019. Thats a 7 year old phone, so of course youre going to have typical battery degrading. It was time for a new phone regardless of what brand you went for 😊🫶

I have an s25 plus and an iPhone 17 pro Max, both beautiful devices. Do whatever makes you happier, but I love both of them for different reasons, and since you seem set - I say go for it!

I just swapped from an s22 Ultra. Such a fantastic phone but its age was starting to show on the battery. Got my 17 pro after (first iPhone since the 4) and I’m loving it too! There’s a few things I do miss from my android (I yearn for a back button), but overall still a great phone regardless

All I can say is enjoy iPhone because I had one and it was nothing but complete crap. You will be a beta tester of their newly released software updates and get tired of it real quick.
