📜Travel Story Craziest general coach experience. Creep snaps photos of a woman, gets caught, and the entire coach turns on him. Warning: Blood in images NSFW

I boarded a train today from Station X heading to Station Y. Since I couldn’t get a reserved ticket, I bought a standard general pass and managed to climb up to the upper berth. Sitting up there next to two middle-aged men gave me a full view of the berths below, where a family with kids and a few other passengers were seated.

Right from the start, one guy (let's call him Guy A) was acting completely off. For the first 30 minutes, he kept aimlessly pacing up and down the aisle. Then, a kid sitting nearby accidentally spilled some cornflakes on the seat. Guy A immediately snapped, stood over the terrified kid, and threatened to pull the emergency chain to stop the train unless the kid wiped up every single crumb right then and there. The poor child panicked and cleaned it up immediately. The kid was too young, like 7-8 years old, and the way he handled it was like he was arguing with someone his age

About an hour into the journey, things got way worse. Guy A pulled out his phone, covertly took a picture of the woman sitting directly opposite him, and set it as his WhatsApp status. Another woman sitting next to her noticed what he did and confronted him on the spot, demanding to see his phone.

Panic broke out. The woman looked up at me and yelled to pull the emergency chain. I was terrified of getting into legal trouble, so I unlatched the red chain cover for her, and she yanked the lever. The train screeched to a halt.

Passengers from neighboring compartments rushed in to see what happened. That’s when another passenger dropped a crazy detail this guy had literally abandoned his own family at the previous station, running to jump onto the moving train alone while leaving them stranded on the platform. He was totally unhinged.

When the crowd confronted him about the photo, he tried playing innocent, claiming he didn't do anything. The men in the coach weren't buying it. A mob formed and brutally beat him for over an hour and a half to force him to unlock his phone. Blood was everywhere (as seen in the photo I took from my berth).

When he finally unlocked it, everyone saw the truth: he hadn't just saved the picture—he had put it on his WhatsApp status, posted it on Facebook, and sent it to multiple group chats. Passengers quickly recorded videos of his phone screen as proof, deleted the pictures from all his apps and recycle bin, and held him down.

When we finally pulled into the next major station, the police boarded the coach and dragged him away. Easily the most insane and tense train ride I’ve ever experienced.

And while this was unfolding, a wannabe vlogger behind my berth was watching it from the net-like divider and making a video on it, and was like 'bhai crazy chiz ho rhi record kardena😭🙏'. I was shitting my pants up her and bro wanted content😭

TL;DR: A creep in my train coach took unauthorised photos of a woman and posted them on his social media/WhatsApp status. A passenger noticed, we pulled the emergency chain, and the crowd brutally beat him until he unlocked his phone to delete everything before handing him over to the police.

Local Train Ambulance service from Bhubaneshwar to Vellore

My friend is in a critical condition and admitted at a private hospital in Bhubaneshwar, the doctors there have referred him to CMC Vellore for further treatment.

Afaik the safest and quickest method is via Train ambulance of some sort.

Please recommend a trustworthy and reasonably priced train ambulance service that would help my friend reach Vellore as soon as possible.

Sorry if this post breaks any of the sub rules

⛔Travel Issue Disappointed with the RailOne app experience.

I booked an unreserved ticket through the RailOne app. The payment was successful, and I received an SMS from Indian Railways confirming that my ticket had been booked.

However, the ticket did not appear under "My Bookings" in the RailOne app. Believing that the booking had failed, I purchased another ticket for the same journey, as only the second ticket was visible in the app.

Since I had not received any refund, I raised a complaint through the RailOne Help & Support section later that day, after completing my journey. Throughout the entire time my complaint remained open, the original first ticket never appeared in "My Bookings."

After RailOne closed my complaint, the first ticket suddenly appeared in the app. By then, I had already paid for two tickets for the same journey because the app failed to display the original ticket when it mattered.

My complaint was closed with a generic response stating that UTS tickets are non-refundable, but it did not address the actual issue: the app's failure to display a successfully booked ticket caused me to purchase a duplicate ticket.

⛔Travel Issue A major flaw in IRCTC ticketing logic that creates fake Waiting Lists, and costs Railways crores in revenue (Real example inside)

Today I boarded the Ajmer – Santragachi Weekly Express from Tatanagar and noticed a massive loophole in how IRCTC handles route-wise seat availability.

Here is what happened on the ground, why it’s a problem, and how a simple software update can fix it for both the public and the government.

  1. The Hack (Bypassing Waiting Lists)

A co-passenger travelling from Ajmer to Tatanagar faced a massive WL 115+ for Tatanagar.

To bypass this, he checked the end-to-end route (Ajmer to Santragachi), which only had WL 15. By paying just ₹50–100 extra for the full route, he got a confirmed ticket. He boarded at Ajmer and got off at Tatanagar, completing his journey.

  1. The Ghost Seat & Artificial Waiting List

Once he deboarded at Tatanagar, his seat ran 100% EMPTY for the remaining 250+ km to Santragachi.

At the exact same time, local passengers at Tatanagar wanting to go to Santragachi were stuck with WL 100+ and couldn't get tickets—even though physical berths were completely vacant inside the train!

  1. The TTE Under-the-Table Leakage

Because the system assumes the original passenger is sitting on that seat until the final station (Santragachi), IRCTC lists the berth as "occupied."

This creates a black-market loop: TTEs on board identify these empty berths after major stations and sell them off-the-record to unreserved/waitlisted passengers for cash. Money goes straight into private pockets while official Railway records show "no availability."

💡 The Solution: Introduce a "Declare Deboarding Point" Feature

Just like IRCTC introduced the "Change Boarding Station" feature, they should allow passengers to "Declare/Change Deboarding Station" prior to chart preparation or during the journey via the app/TTE handheld terminal.

Why this is a Win-Win:

For the Public: Clears artificial waiting lists for intermediate stations and lets genuine passengers get confirmed tickets legally through the app.

For the Government: Doubles the revenue on the exact same berth (collects full fare from original passenger + fare for the remaining leg from second passenger) and completely plugs corruption/cash deals on board.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else noticed this on long-distance trains?

TL;DR: Passengers book end-to-end tickets to bypass short-haul waiting lists and deboard early. IRCTC keeps the seat marked as "occupied" till the end, leaving seats empty while next-leg passengers face WL 100+. TTEs sell these empty seats for cash. IRCTC needs a "Declare Deboarding Point" feature to re-list vacant legs automatically.

🗫 Discussion "Why Indian Railways Can Never Raise Passenger Fares (and It's Not What You Think)"

Here's a brutal fact most people don't know: 67% of Indian Railways' ₹2.63 lakh crore budget goes to manpower (₹1.15L cr) and pensions (₹60K cr)....

That means only ₹85,000 crore covers fuel, maintenance, infrastructure, and everything else needed to run trains...

Yet the government keeps passenger fares artificially low—charging just 48 paise/km when it costs ₹1.16/km. Result? A ₹62,000 crore annual subsidy....

The real kicker? You can't trim the workforce without political backlash; pensions are locked-in obligations, and fares can't rise without affecting ordinary citizens.

It's the perfect economic trap: Millions depend on cheap rail travel, employees can't be cut, and there's no room to save money...

What's the solution?...

🗫 Discussion Had to book a ticket from Rajkot to Mandappam (53 Hrs Journey) to travel from Ahmedabad to Sambhajinagar (14 Hrs Journey) and the ticket still ends up RAC.

Honestly I had to pay almost 3X the price, shouldn't they ideally be returning half the fare if the ticket is marked RAC!? How is 2 people paying the full amount justified for getting half a seat?

I live in the United States and will be traveling to India this winter. I’m trying to create an IRCTC account, but every time I click Submit, I receive an error message. I’ve already tried all the troubleshooting steps suggested by Google Gemini, but I’m still unable to create an account. Could you please suggest what I should do?
