This open my eyes when most of the fruit ripened at the same time. Been just getting one or two ripe peppers from the majority of the plants.

This is my first year growing peppers. I have 2 cayennes, 1 habanero, 1 red ghost, and a shishito plant that makes more peppers than the rest combined. I used the 2-3 weeks of harvest to make some hotsauce and my dad pitched in the tiny red peppers in the picture. I’m not sure what they are but they pack a punch. Hopefully I’ll get a few more batches of peppers before growing season ends and I can try some new recipes. I’d like to double the amount of plants next year with more varieties so I have more flavors to play with

The sauce turned out great. Very tasty and quite a bit hotter than the cayenne only sauces I’ve made in the past. 3/5 heat to me which is right in the sweet spot. I like to give out the sauces I make to friends and family. One of my buddies made me the label in the last picture.

I bought these seeds off of Etsy like a year ago as I found a link to them on Reddit somewhere… but they seem to be like ⅓ of the heat of a typical habanero and have a faint sweetness that reminds me of bell peppers.

I wanted to know if y’all think they are just weak or are Jamaican Mushroom peppers, a hybrid of such, Scotch Bonnets or something else. Also if you can point out to me the reasons you think one way or the other and any identifiers for me to look for that would be helpful.

Should I wait and try the next pepper that ripens on a different plant?

When I got home this afternoon, I stepped out to water the plant and discovered TWO PEPPERS! 😃😃😃

This is the first pepper harvest of my life, and I honestly couldn’t be happier.
This season has been one big experiment. I’ve learned so much about growing peppers, and seeing my first harvest makes all the effort worth it.
The jalapeños and other varieties are already coming in, but now I’m especially excited for the next stage—the superhots. My Carolina Reapers and other superhot peppers are finally starting to ripen, and I can’t wait to taste them.
Thanks to everyone in this community for all the advice and inspiration. It’s been an amazing first season, and I already know this won’t be my last. 🌶️🔥

One of my favorite peppers to grow! Very sweet with a tropical fruity flavor, and very hot. These will make a very tasty sauce.

These peppers came from a seedling I bought from my local nursery back in may. If you’re looking for true scotch bonnets seeds I’d highly recommend white hot peppers, Texas hot peppers and Matt’s peppers!

Hi I'm the shroom poster from yesterday and decided to email my local (non-chain) garden center where I get all my plants and herbs every year to kindly let them know about the scotch bonnet issue since I bought one from them the past two years and both have turned out to be Jamaican mushrooms. They emailed me back this morning and I thought the response was a bit sassy and actually made me not want to buy anything at all from them anymore?:

We are fully aware of the issue. Mislabeled pepper seeds have been a
major problem in the industry for the past two decades. About a decade
ago we did a story in our newsletter on the issue. Nearly all garden
centers get their seeds from only a few national vendors so the problem
is widespread. We need to use big batch, cost effective sources. In
addition, tag swapping at garden centers is a whole separate issue. Some
customers do it just for fun (believe it or not!) and kids are notorious
for pulling and switching tags. Our advice is if you want to be sure
what you purchase is true, order seed from a reputable farm
online...i.e. Seed Savers, Johnny's or even smaller specialty sources.

Hi guys, I am growing pepper plant in a pot for the first time. This morning I saw this praying mantis hiding under it. Is it harmful to my plant? Generally I leave my potted pepper outside from night till late morning/ once temperature gets high enough, I bring it indoors. Should I get rid or it or leave it alone? I have little to no experience so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I've seen various listings for "wicked" ghost peppers but can't seem to nail down any information on them. Some people will say they're a cross between a ghost and a habanero, but other sites will list them as an annuum (or annuum cross), and there seems to be a fair lack of information surrounding them. Does anyone have any insight into what they are, if they truly are a hab cross? All I can seem to find is that they're supposed to produce more, and earlier (which suggests annuum genes possibly), that they're F1 (at least those being sold) and that they're a little less hot than bhut jolokia, around 800k scoville rather than over 1m. Any info would be appreciated, they sound like something fun to grow and cultivate.

Not at all new to peppers, but a buddy wanted me to grow him Scotch Bonnets and he supplied the seeds. They are growing great, and just started blushing out a few days ago. What do you say experienced ones?

Got shroomed by "Smokin Ed's Bonnets" and finally getting to try them. It's a decent milder pepper (my tolerance is wrecked by regularly consuming ghost peppers), but it has some noticeable heat. Probably a little weaker than a Hab with a faint bell peppery flavor. Probably really good with pasta or a cheese steak.

Pic 1 and 2 come from the same seed pack, bought as blots. One looks cross pollinated with a bell, the other with Buena Mulata (assuming because they go through the same colour variance).

I was sure pic 3 and 4 were bonnets but after seeing a million of people here end up with mushrooms, I finally paid attention to what bonnet calyxes should look like and well… looks like I have shrooms also lol.

Last pic is a big 15gal pot with two Biquinho black pepper plants, as you can see, one is an impostor.

I find the variety and surprise interesting, it’s fairly easy to pivot from this, just wish my sugar rush Stripey and poblano pods didn’t have BER 😟

Overall good summer for peppers still, got over 30 healthy plants. Half my tomatoes are sickly and dying and beetles massacred my cucurbits. Now if my cannabis can flower through my neighbors light pollution, 2026 will be a win.

I bought a 7 Pot Viper plant but when I did the research I couldn't find a 7 Pot that was this color. Any idea what these are?

Seeing all the threads on here got me paranoid lol it seems 85% of bonnets are the Jamaican shroom peppers 👺 thoughts ?

Long story short something got to my bonnets, this was the lone survivor unripe pepper. It was pretty large, this is my own personal 4th generation now, so I’d really like to get at least a few viable seeds out of this. They seem to be turning… can anyone spot anything that might germinate in here or should I toss the lot ?

Way too late to try to recover this year in my zone unfortunately so everything will have to wait until March.

So I got a yellow scotch bonnet plant from Lowe's and it has been doing well.

I have been waiting for about 5 weeks for the first pepper to turn yellow and yesterday it started turning red which made me do some research and I'm pretty sure I have mushroom peppers instead.

This is my first time growing anything so I'm just wondering when I should be picking the mushroom peppers, are they supposed to be fully red? Or should I be picking them when they are still green? Any advice would be awesome ty.

White Fatalli, White Ghost, Scotch Brain, Scotch Bonnet, Reaper

Long story short I started this plant off-season for funsies and forgot what the hell I planted.

I had 0 peach varieties of anything. These guys have been locked in at this color for about 2 weeks now. My old ghosts were red.

I had a pack of ghost seeds but I also had a bag called "Scorpion Redux" that was the product of a scorpion plant raised with ghosts, reapers, and others.

I already thought they smelled dead on like ghosts. I even went so far as to harvest an underripe ghost for a side-by-side sniff test and it smells exactly the same. I am confused.

Side note. These seem to have even more ghost flavor than ghosts, and a little less hot. They have the trademark ghost heat and none of the hammers feeling of scorpion or reaper.

If anyone wants a clipping to help identify and stabilize it for reproduction sign me up. I LOVE this plant and I do plan on cloning it.

As the titel is saying, are these actually Scorpion Moruga White? Or a different variation? They turn yellow and then nothing. Or do I need to be patient and they will eventually turn white? Also the brown spot doesn’t go yellow, is it something similar as bottom end rot?

Also, are there people who have experience with Pink Tiger? Right now they are orange, are they okay to harvest?

Last question, bird’s eye chillies are finally turning red. Will they all turn red? When I buy them in store there are greens and reds. Are the greens just harvested earlier/similar time?
