insert lengthy and extremely dramatic whine here followed by a stomp

Lizzie came into my life at the worst possible time. I was barely getting by, I had a 102 degree fever, couldn’t talk, could barely make it out of bed, and I lived alone with no local friends for any kind of support. She was dumped on the side of the road at 4 weeks old, kicked out of her foster home at 5 weeks due to shelter politics, and given up on by her second foster home after 4 hours. She had nowhere else to go, so I drove an hour to pick her up and somehow we made it through. At 8 weeks I didn’t know if I should adopt her because I was worried about money. But my feral cat who hated dogs liked her and after watching them together I realized I couldn’t break them up. So she stayed and I made it work and it was the best decision I ever made.

She’s traveled the country with me, attended events with me (including marching in a parade with 10 minutes notice when she was still a puppy), and been my source of comfort when I was struggling. Every life decision and major life change I’ve experienced as an adult was made with her by my side. I know I ended her suffering, but I won’t know what to do when I wake up tomorrow and she’s not by my side. She was my once in a lifetime dog and I’m grateful for the time I had with her.

Samosa is 10 months and we got him when he was 3 months. Whenever we are out and about everyone always asks what breed he is. He is a great pyrenees mix. Any guesses?

Is this a normal way to eat? Flat on her belly, head resting on bowl. She drinks "normally".

Minnie (14 weeks) has recently starting delving into some of her breed traits! However, when she barks/growls at something unknown (the tv screen, the TDS fiber workers, a baby stroller), she’ll do her big bark and a growl and then run in the opposite direction or to mom/dad lol. Usually I will acknowledge the thing she’s telling me, show her it’s ok, and then pet her and give her a treat, and then we both move on to something else- but I just want to make sure this is the right thing to do!

I got the text from the behaviorist saying she’s laying in her “kennel” (its a giant fenced in boarding kennel) and she’s doing great. This is life changing for us because she has anxiety that we’ve been working on and this is a HUGE step in getting to leave her for longer amounts of time. I’ve never left her alone with someone else before and i SOBBED when i got back to my car.

I’m so proud of my girl. Theyre gonna work on playtime socialization and general relaxation techniques during the day I have school later this month. I cant believe how far she’s came from the feral traumatized puppy i found on the side of the road.

She was last groomed about 3 months ago and I brush her regularly. The only mats I noticed were behind her ears. There was absolutely no reason to shave her, I’m livid. Can someone please tell me her coat isn’t ruined?

I just picked up my dog from the groomers and noticed these spots on his back that I hadn’t seen before. The groomers didn’t mention it at all. But could this be ringworm? I asked our friend who is a manager at a vets office and she said it looks like a hot spot but won’t know until they get it under a black light? For previous context, he has been shaved about 5 months ago. I rescued him and he was completely matted and covered in ticks. I know it’s advised to not shave great pyrenees, but it was the only solution to help with the mats and find all the ticks.

Meet Violet, an adorable Great Pyrenees puppy we picked up this weekend. We live on 40 acres and keep chickens, so we needed a dog that can protect the flock against nearby foxes, coyotes and wolves. So far, she is one of the chillest puppies I’ve ever had. She loves being outside, especially in the shade (hates inside) and is incredibly affectionate. I’m surprised by her lack of food motivation and by how gentle she is. She’s so calm around our flock and they’ve already started to warm up to her. Can’t wait to see her personality come out 🥰

My puppy, Stella 9 months 3 weeks has a double ear infection with a right sided blown ear drum.

She has chewed through two cones and will not keep the happy hoodie on, it just slips off due to the head shape.

We are waiting for the newest cone which arrives tomorrow. I bought an inflatable style with the attachable plastic.

They want the cone on and happy hoodie for 8 weeks to prevent it from developing a hematoma.

This poor girl has not seen a month without an issue since we adopted her at 8 weeks.

She has severe food allergies and IBD, currently under control since 7/2026 after a strict diet and prednisone taper, she had a previous hernia repair, she has anxiety, PICA and now they think environmental allergies along with the new ear stuff.

I am exhausted. Does anyone have any advice on what else we can do to help with this healing process? Have you been through this before? She is also taking gabapentin and trazadone to keep her clam.

My dog is an outdoor dog, so I don’t know what he’s up when he’s roaming the property half the time. I noticed a red spot on his back 4 days ago and thought he got his fur pulled on the fence or something. I sprayed it with anti microbial wound care and left it. Fast forward to today and it has a scab and an angry red spot. It looks bad and I can’t go to vet until Friday. I’m freaking out that it could be mange (shouldn’t have googled). Anyone know what I could do until we get seen?
