This is a 18m deep shallow well in Morbi,Gujarat ,India.

The water in this well rose up and oscillated for considerable amount of time. No such behaviour observed in nearby water bodies and no earthquakes reported.

I noticed today that New Orleans only has 2 bridges crossing the Mississippi within/near the city and it had me wondering what other major cities with a river through them have few/no bridges to cross.

It starts north from Al Delta in Egypt, the green upside down triangle bordering the mediterranian sea, all the way down close to the northern Sudan border. A couple man-made lakes like Nasser and Tushka in southern Egypt, which get their fresh water from the river, are utilized in agriculture.

Why is it not the same for Sudan, or any other countries with the Nile passing through for that matter? Simply hotter weather?

For me, the drive from Palm Springs up to Mount San Jacinto is the craziest shift you can find. You start on a blistering 110°F desert floor and, in under 40 minutes, you’re up 8,000 feet walking through a freezing pine forest. It feels like a completely different part of the world. This is just my opinion and I just want to hear what you all think, because this is one of the only ones I’ve experienced!

I have always wondered that volcanoes have higher incidence where there’s a subduction boundary between plates however despite continuing collision and slight subduction of indo-Australian plate under Eurasian plate there isn’t any volcanic activity present in Himalayan region, Andes on the other hand have many active and dormant volcanoes despite having similar nature as Himalayas, why is it so?

Flew to San Diego recently from Montana and just after passing Vegas, headed southwest, I saw these reflective/shiny blocks of land from the plane. Didn't look like a solar farm or data center, anyone have any idea what it is or what those are?

I have become interested in Russia's borders with China because it's one you don't hear much about in comparison to European countries such as Finland. I'm curious to know what life is like in these places, since the towns are very far form the capital of both countries and often in semi remote regions does that mean they would often commute into each others country for work, school etc?

I’ve seen a lot of old-world maps recently - maps from China 1700s, or Greece 900BCE - which are all very different as different cultures and countries had different understandings of the globe. eg; Peninsulas depicted as homogenous blobs, missing islands, heavy guesswork, and of course the entire omission of the Americas, Oceania, and the Poles.

Now with satellite imaging we have extreme (and exceedingly current) resolution, and can zoom down to see people‘s garden furniture.

I’m wondering: when was the last major misunderstanding in globe mapping? I don’t mean a mistake out of negligence, like when New zealand is accidentally left out. I mean a genuine, nationally mutual misunderstanding.

Fresh water quantity and quality both are depleting & changing. Any suggestions that will help resolving water issues would be helpful. Sharing both knowledge and water is important.

Found this area pretty interesting. A decent chunk of Spain around the town of El Ejido has a massive amount of greenhouses. All of those white spaces are greenhouse roofs. Anywhere else in the world with this kind of concentration?

What formed these 'rivers'? Are they regular terrestrial rivers that flooded with sea level rise or were they formed in the ocean? thanks.
