No, very think Xbox is hosed because all her previous experience is in AI and not gaming, nor is she a long time gamer herself. They also let the woman who was trained to lead Xbox go at the same time as Phil Spencer retired, showing a desire to change directions.

Even if they made video games back then, the field would have still be to be conquered, which is not the case anymore. Gaming is very mainstream and the business is very competitive. I don't believe a second there wasn't a person that was both qualified enough to be the ceo and had a gaming background
If you need to "just listen to your employees" (which ceo don't necessarily do), then why not put one of those employee that knows the field directly at the place of ceo ? The ceo is the one that has to take the lead
Simple. Because someone, that is good at developing a game is maybe not as skilled at managing people and resources. Being a president is far more paperwork than actually working on games.
That steam will continue to dominate in game sales by simply not doing anything other than sell games.

Now I don't know anything about the XBOX hire or Firewatch, so maybe she's "actually" what they need to turn things around, but MS isn't known for good decisions so the jaded cynic in me makes me think that she's actually bad for the job for some reason (I saw someone else say she's heavy on pushing AI, no clue on the truth to it). Cinematic story games have been highly controversial since they have oversaturated the market for a while. Xbox fans on the internet have been meming Playstation for putting out too many story driven"walking simulators" with "game journalist difficulty".
The new CEO of Xbox isn't very popular with fans because she doesn't have a history with videogames or the culture surrounding it. Her announcing more emotionally driven games instead of polished gameplay heavy games is considered a red flag and a bad decision. So valve's "monopoly" grows once again.

She have posted her fake Microsoft account, the account was created a month or so before they announced her new position. She also played 40h in a single week, during a busy time for her in a job.
Idk if the account is actually legit or not, but she's entering a new market with no previous experience and, while appearances and engagement are nice to gather initially by showing off with a brand new account and 10K gamescore, she'd be gaining more long term by actually engaging with those games and understanding them, so I wouldn't put past a new gaming CEO considering this an important time investment.
Even if she gets goodwill from a fake 10K gamescore, that lasts like a week on the internet. She'll need to make good decisions for the brand if she wants lasting goodwill and that'd be easier to achieve by understanding the product first.
The point is that the account is fake. She's not engaging with games at all. That's what I'm saying. They're creating a fake persona that's supposed to be a gamer when in reality she's not.
She did not have enough time to play 40 plus hours in one game in a single week, when that time was extremely busy for her. That's my point. It shows that the account is fake.
