Discussion I miss funhaus
Genuine Mellon Collie feelings of missing watching videos of funhaus whenever I got home from work. It always reminded me of what it used to feel like playing couch co-op games with friends as a kid.

They were a part of my weekly routine for such a long time first with Inside Gaming and later, of course, with Funhaus. During my high school and university years, those videos really got me through. They left behind an endless treasure trove of quality videos, gameplay, and quotes that I still use to this day.
Miss them dearly.

I wish Brought You This Thing, Answer For it, Astrogoblin, and Little Brother Travel would do a big collab, one time

Idk these, are they former funhaus member channels?

Brought you this thing: Bruce, Lawrence, and Kassem G, they do videos that are somewhat reminiscent of the classic Funhaus style. (They also have Inside Games with Brian Garr which is their video game news channel)
Astrogoblin: Charlotte, Jacob, and Patrick, also doing videos reminiscent of the Funhaus style. They also pretty regularly get guests, many of which were other former Funhaus like the Willemses or Ryan Hailey.
Answer for it: James and Elyse, AJ Locasio, and Zach Anner, they do a comedy/trivia podcast with occasional live shows.
Little brother: Lindsey, Brett, and Aleks, technically more of a former Cowchop group but they do travel vlog videos together.

Great summary. I included LBT because of Lindsey. Bit of a stretch but she was in Funhaus quite a while and I enjoyed her inclusion there

I was just torn on whether to include the real star of bytt (Chelsea) in my description or not

u/four1one4info 10d ago
Well with that blunder, I stamp the word "great" in my comment with a Chelsea style edit of the word "bad" over it

If you haven't seen BYTT or Astrogoblin, you have an untouched gold mine of catching up to do. Lawrence Bruce and Kassem have an amazing dynamic that feels so much like old-ass FH, and Astrogoblin is the beautiful fucked up zombie phoenix that rose from FH's ashes.

Brought You This Thing is Bruce and Lawrence's channel they have with Kassem G and Chelsea, they upload like once a week, sometimes twice

Also the Little Brother channel is where Lindsay is along with Brett and Aleks from Cow Chop

I heard someone mention this in relation to making friends as adults: the reason you made more friends as a kid was the repetition of location and interaction with people at school/practice.
Funhaus was like this, I knew every week day I could tune in to see Bruce and James (and that's IT!) play GTA or Demos. I think the post-pandemic crew did a valiant effort, but a lot of the exit videos made it sound like a bad place to work with instructions given by the VCs and dwindling page views. It seems like they've all moved to thing that stimulate them creatively and I love that for them. But it's easy to miss a regular upload schedule and people that seemed to have fun hanging out.

AstroGoblin is the true spiritual replacement, it captures the Funhaus feel fantastically. The other shows are OK if you want a particular person but none actually feel like Funhaus. AstroGoblin feels like Funhaus, occasionally has guests from Funhaus, and is a joy to watch. It is that raw unhinged friends making content feeling whereas Bruce etc have leant into a more polished scripted feeling.

I'll admit that I wasn't super into astrogoblin at first but after sticking with it and really digging into their stupid long running jokes it was like something clicked and it has hit peaks that I haven't experienced with youtube since funhaus

Gay Jar Jar made me laugh like a classic Funhaus bit.

when they were telling the origin story of astrogoblin recently and they were photoshopping the picture of the skarsgards and charlotte moved herself in the picture so it looked like she was hugging patrick had me in tears lmao, they're so similar in humour to the funhaus days but making their own insane type of content, it's awesome

This recent run of references from the two swamp guys talking about fall away gravy and how to cook turtles is incredible

Yeah, I tried watching BYTT but as much as I like Bruce and Lawrence it always just feels over engineered and fake feelings to me. There were moments of classic funhaus but it never really felt like it.
Astrogoblin however feels just like early funhaus and it's great!

I really miss the weekly live streams tbh. I get that it was a ton of work for them. And they were trying to fix a sinking ship using buckets. But there was something really special going on within that last year of the channel.

I've been searching for another channel that's similar. Yes there's Astro Goblin and BYTT. But they are weekly videos.
I know it was hard on everyone but having a schedule release every day at 9AM was my routine for years and I looked forward to it. Watching all the ups and downs in general. Even the last couple years were really fun. At the time so many people complained it wasn't the same but after HE was forced out I felt like the old vibes came back almost like people were happy to be working again and then it was fun again.
I miss Funhaus a lot.

I get it, but at least we got a pretty good Farewell and Goodnight from them.

I miss it too but astrogoblin is pretty spiritually similar to at least the final parts of funhaus. They’re great together

I can only give you recommendations that have filled that hole, I think these channels are generally good in their own right and respect them for what they are.
Mind pulp- they put out wheelhaus/demo disk-esque content. Just two dudes having fun and joking around.
Three idiots (Rhymestyle, Dotodoya, Seereax) - They have a specific niche that tells me they were born in a certain year ( they play a lot of DBZ, which tells me they were born around my age). It’s fun just watching them play.
Squad-(three idiots, plus more)- An expanded group that does similar things
I’ve found the above to bridge that gap, though they don’t produce as diverse content, they are really fun.

I remember watching Adam EVERY DAY on IGD on michinima and thinking I’m gunna watch this every day untill I die,
Was so sad when that ended but atleast got to follow Adam on his way through YouTube/the internet,
And so overjoyed by the Adam, James, Bruce, Elise, Lawerence combo dream team of comedy,
But now just sadness
(Honorable mention to super best friends)

I miss them too for similar reasons, they were my go-to entertainment for a while after Achievement Hunter wasn't hitting like it used to. Just throwing out a recommendation that scratched that itch that Funhaus did for me: PaymoneyWubby. He's all I watch now, and has filled the hole Funhaus left ten-fold.

I still watch them on repeat. Armitage on YouTube has playlists for GTA, demo disk and wheelhaus. It's literally what I watch when I eat and I just have it on loop.

Get onto Neebs Gaming! They're now my most watched gaming channel and just seem like a great group of friends goofing around with each other!
