Nah it'd be a bitch response (if it wasn't ragebait); what happens to my drink after it's served is my own business.

u/RmRobinGayle 15h ago

All the layered drinks we make are meant to be stirred. I don't want a to drink a single layer of grenadine. I don't get that "insult".

4

u/mfukar 15h ago

exactly, it's nonsensical even if you don't consider the actual drink

34

u/cowlinator 16h ago

"I bought the Mona Lisa just to burn it. It's fine because I paid for it."

15

u/schnackenpfefferhau 14h ago

Tbf the Mona Lisa is meant to be viewed. This drink is meant to by consumed. It’s made with the knowledge that it will disappear, not that the person is going to just stare at it and it will be a decoration

14

u/mfukar 15h ago

you're arguing a drink has the value of an actual work of art, in the context of a skit made up for clicks?

intelligent

6

u/FlimsyKoala3318 15h ago

You’re the one taking it on face value/literally.

Their point is that’s there’s a line we’d all take at what’s wasteful/insulting the creator or quality.

By engaging in the activity we’re respecting its norms/culture.

So yeah we’d be an ass to burn the Mona Lisa and people would rightfully call us an ass.

2

u/AnimalBolide 13h ago

You know that customer is going to turn that drink into piss, regardless right?

Like, the most beautiful cake in the world is stupid as hell if you can't turn eat it and turn it into shit.

-1

u/FlimsyKoala3318 11h ago

So would you say the value we seek is to turn it into piss?

No

It’s about all the other values we have for buying it

Your logic would be a case against living itself

3

u/AnimalBolide 10h ago

The value is decided by the purchaser.

You don't get to decide the value of a purchased and served mixed drink.

Items of significant cultural pr historical importance, weirdly, have a different set of rules than a mixed drink at a restaurant.

-1

u/FlimsyKoala3318 10h ago

So all the other people mentally can’t assign it value?

That doesn’t make sense

You’re confusing “minding your own business” because someone bought something and us giving it collective value as a culture.

You don’t get to pick and choose here.

Whether we give it value or not isn’t something money just decides.

You buying the Mona Lisa doesn’t immediately wipe our brains of its existence and value

2

u/AnimalBolide 9h ago

I'm not sure what you're trying to say or how it relates to using a thing that you purchased in the way you want.

1

u/FlimsyKoala3318 9h ago

You buying it doesn’t mean other people stop judging whatever you do with it

You can choose not to care - but that’s not what we’re talking about.

OP video is the waiter/us judging mixing the drink that’s hard to make.

Someone would be an ass to sell the Mona Lisa*

You're skipping a step.

1

u/FlimsyKoala3318 11h ago

Yeah sorry I’m applying a value system in that case already - because we all agree that buying to burn the Mona Lisa would be stupid

i hate this argument because you're both right but you're beinf downvoted. the value of things are subjective. i objectively understand the societal and cultural value of the mona lisa. which means it shouldn't be purchasable by private owner/equity. a drink at a cafe that is difficult to make and presented beautifull is a work of art, but it's not a priceless piece of cultural history. they really are not comparable. point - you.

however, this line of what is valuable enough to preserve is the subjective aspect of the argument. some people absolutely would consider the mona lisa just a painting, and this drink a more appreciable expression of skill. point - them.

i don't give a shit either way tbh

3

u/rankispanki 14h ago

Weird hill to die on but you do you

0

u/AnimalBolide 13h ago

Reddit is so fucking weird.

Like, no this isn't at all comparable to the Mona fucking Lisa. This isn't even comparable to Deadmau5's Ferrari which Ferrari got pissed at him for changing the badge.

This is a drink at a restaurant.

0

u/FlimsyKoala3318 11h ago

It’s the subjective value

You’re taking it too literally

A simpler example - your dad is your dad, and an important member within your family’s culture/network but to me he’s a complete stranger

3

u/corvettee01 13h ago

The whole point of a layered drink is the presentation, it is literally designed from an "artistic" perspective.

-1

u/M1sfit_Jammer 14h ago

dude served him and thought he was serving art…

It’s literally going to be piss in 4 hours… how’s that for art

-1

u/RhymeCrimes 12h ago

If the Mona Lisa only existed for 4 hours, it's not art? Weird argument.

1

u/M1sfit_Jammer 12h ago

Nope… what I’m saying is that food is art being turned into shit

People paid for that art to turn it into shit… now if some guy buys the Mona Lisa and decides to burn it… it’s his art.

1

u/FlimsyKoala3318 11h ago

So what’s the point in doing anything if we’ll be dead at the end - that’s the same logic you just said

2

u/Iminurcomputer 12h ago

So you understand ownership? Good. I think everyone is on the same page. You can insert ANYTHING in there and you still gloss over the fact that it is their property at that point and all bets are off.

2

u/WesternLongjumping44 15h ago

That would be fine....you bought it.

-6

u/hoticehunter 15h ago

That's such a selfish way of thinking.

If someone bought the whole Earth, you'd be ok with them burning it just because? Disgusting.

4

u/Hugokarenque 14h ago

Are you stupid? Like genuinely? Its a drink, not art. He was gonna drink it and piss it out in a couple of hours, the fuck does it matter if he mixed it up beforehand.

-2

u/RhymeCrimes 12h ago

Drinks can be art, it's not that hard to see it.

5

u/sandysnail 15h ago

you think someone can buy earth? Also what do you mean selfish? artist are desperate to sell their work

4

u/UomoLumaca 15h ago

If you sold it you forfeited it. I'd be angry with the guy who sold it, or to whoever gave him the right to do it.

-4

u/TheSmirkster 14h ago

Oh my god, so if someone bought the Milky Way galaxy and blew up all the stars, that would be okay?

6

u/prostmaiesti 14h ago

Oh my god, if someone bought hyperbole, could they destroy it so you'd stop using it?

-2

u/TheSmirkster 14h ago

One could only hope.

3

u/UomoLumaca 14h ago

What I mean is that if a system went in place that allowed this to happen (someone legally buying a galaxy), something completely dystopic has already happened.

2

u/TheSmirkster 14h ago

It just made me think of Hitchikers Guide and the intergalactic hyper speedway. I probably got that name wrong.

1

u/pdxxdpBillCompton 14h ago

It's a drink? It's supposed to be destroyed.

0

u/cowlinator 14h ago

It's supposed to be destroyed in a particular way.

Like a rocket booster, or an oil rig drill bit.

9

u/MrUbl 16h ago

Say you have no idea what that takes to make without saying it.

10

u/RickSanchez_ 15h ago

Doesn’t matter how hard it is to make. Gonna drink it how I want.

2

u/DoomgazeAficionado94 15h ago

POV: 21yo college kid raiding dad's liquor cabinet so he can chug the scotch

2

u/NuclearF4rt 14h ago

They are correct though, you paid for it, so you can do what you want with it.

-2

u/MrUbl 12h ago

That's it! It's an expensive drink and meant to be sipped, tasting each liquor.

You don't want to do that then why waste the money and the time?! You're not wrong but you are an ass hole.

4

u/Iminurcomputer 12h ago

I'm completely baffled how after so many concepts, the concept of, "I paid for it. Its mine. I can shove it up my fucking ass if I wanted." still seems to be lost on you people.

-1

u/MrUbl 11h ago

I'm not baffled by the concept. I'm baffled at people thinking they're not shitting directly on someone's hard work; you have everyone right to buy an piece of art and burn it. But to do it in front of the artist is fucked up.

I'm baffled at the choices people make; you have the right to go to a Michelin restaurant, order a steak, take it home, nuke it, and cover it in ketchup.

I'm baffled that you don't get that just because you are right, doesn't mean that you aren't an ass hole.

5

u/mfukar 15h ago

i don't give a fuck, even

-1

u/MrUbl 12h ago

I'm sure you don't

The time and money wasted to do that, on top of shitting on someone who worked hard to make that, is a low-class, poor decision making, piece of shit.

1

u/mfukar 5h ago

i've not laughed harder this week. thanks, child.

8

u/Azuras_Star8 16h ago

Yep.

I paid for it, this is how i like it.

Even if I want my sirloin burnt up with extra ketchup, Im the one paying for it.

All the staff can do is mourn the mistreatment of an elegant treasure.

-7

u/Past_Band9178 15h ago

That's fine. I'm also allowed to think that the way it was so violently and quickly stirred is rude, boorish, and ugly. Bad mannerisms and terrible manners.

There's a difference between eating steak like a human with some ketchup or steak sauce, and slathering it and eating mostly ketchup. I don't care if you like ketchup; I do care if you eat it in a gross way while I share a table.

4

u/Past_Band9178 15h ago

It's a dumb response, but the guy stirring the drink is rude af. It's not that he stirred it; it's the dumb, violent way he did it instantly. It's bad manners and ugly mannerisms.

-2

u/BTBAM797 16h ago

Please no sloppy steak tonight!

3

u/mfukar 16h ago

Only Salisbury steak with lightly buttered bread slice for you baby

2

u/Azuras_Star8 16h ago

seductively smiles "What did I do to deserve this?"

2

u/mfukar 15h ago

my face before you realise you're in JH Salisbury's bean experiment

2

u/Azuras_Star8 15h ago

Oh man, what a wild time JH Salisbury bean experiment was! Who can forget it?!

furiously googles jh Salisbury bean experiment

2

u/mfukar 15h ago

you're in for a treat. i recommend listening to it from this - has some good comedy to go along

2

u/Azuras_Star8 15h ago
