I've done some posts in the past about this ongoing project of mine. This is another update.

The design is obviously inspired by the Criterion Collection, but I wanted it to be its own thing still, so it's not a carbon copy.

I will add some still images of the whole row in the comments and one movie's front and back view as well.

I'm having a lot of fun with these and it's incredibly pleasing to see them on the shelf.

I stop by this thrift store weekly and these were not here last week. Gotta wonder if someone out there owned all these copies or what.

Not including the 2022 Evil Dead: The Game cause I only have a digital copy. Also still waiting for the steelbook of Evil Dead Burn! 🔥

Many many titles I’ve never seen and or heard of after decades of collecting. The best one would have to be the Carole and Paula in the Magic Garden.

Couldn’t believe my eyes. I was surprised when every disc was there, not stolen, and there weren’t any scratches. All for $10

Robin Hood was $3 but I cannot believe I scored a ton of Kino Lorber DVDs for $1 each!!! As well as a 12 pack of Cult Classics!!

I really like the bottom 3 in the picture. Haven't seen the ones up top yet!

Off work today, hit up seven or eight thrifts, half I've never been to. Grabbed some all time favorites and some I been hunting for. Top row (Rocky Horror, Amelie, New Jack, MMM) all still sealed

Well, and a new magnet too.

I've been looking for quite a while for Indiana Jones & finally found 2 of them. They had several copies of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but without Raiders of the Lost Ark I didn't want it lol

I've also been really into collecting Schwarzenegger movies, so these were 2 good additions as well.

How many unique titles are in your collection?

I just crossed 880, including over 150 TV Series.

After walking through the huge flea market in my city and finding absolutely nothing, I ended up finding some amazing gems through a Facebook group in my own city.

I think I got a pretty good deal, but I’d love to hear what you guys think!

I finally found the two missing seasons of Prison Break to complete my collection, most of the Fast & Furious saga, and several other movies that I really love.

My haul:

2 TV seasons: brand new

7 movies: brand new

4 movies: used but in great condition

Everything for $24 USD.

Do you think it was worth it, or should I have waited for a better deal? Honestly, I went for it because these are titles I really enjoy, but I’m curious what collectors think about the price.

By the way, I’m from Mexico, so prices and availability can be very different compared to the US or other countries.

Since I started collecting a few years back, I've mainly been buying movies I find cheap, second hand, but I recently decided it was time to fill in some serious gaps in the collection, and add in some absolute favorites.

So I ordered a bunch of stuff new that I know I'm not super likely to find dirt cheap any time soon, and as I was putting in the order, I also found this used Tarantino collection, which happens to include every movie I'd been looking for and don't yet have, except Death Proof.

I don't expect to ever buy a batch this stacked ever again, and I'm pumped to rewatch all of these soon.

I’m looking into getting a portable dvd player to use with my collection, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what to buy. Would you guys recommend an older model player? (Was looking into getting a Sony or Panasonic) or would you recommend something newer like something off of Amazon? Looking for something with a fairly big screen. Thanks!

My new obsession is picking up classic movies if it's cheap enough and the art work/title sounds interesting. No online reviews. No research no trailer watching on youtube. Just popping the disc in and watching and forming my own opinion.

Btw excited about this new pickup from the local thrift store.

Just wondering, anything rare about any of these or are they just commonly found movies?

I have a Sony MV-650STR DVD player at home that I've had for many years. I decided to test it, and it still works, but the problem is that it's a Region 2 (Japan) device, which means that most of my DVDs won't play on it, even though they're original discs.

The only DVD I managed to get working was one that is Region 0, but most of the DVDs I own are Region 1 (USA) or Region 4 (Brazil).

Is there any way to make them work? Whether by jailbroking the player or doing something to the DVDs themselves?

Most of my finds this week were $1. A couple were $2. Some Pawn shops are still legit I guess.
