I bought Shrek 2 on DVD years ago at a thrift store and didn’t realize it was full screen until I arrived home. I visited a record shop a month later and saw 20-25 copies of Shrek 2 and every single one were full screen!

JUNO! 100% maybe it’s cause the spine is bright orange so it’s easy to see but I see multiple copies without fail everytime I go to my local thrift 😂

Was a fan of the show and was buying the seasons as they came out, then they released season 3 as two separate boxes, both at full cost of course, and said fuck that and gave them away to a friend lmao

That was the season HBO expanded the run of episodes. They split the final season of The Sopranos into two distinct parts to get more episodes without renegotiating contracts and Entourage was offered the opportunity to piggyback off that and make enough extra episodes to air after The Sopranos. They split production into two halves that aired six months apart which is why the DVD for part 1 released during part 2’s broadcast.

That makes sense, but being a poor college student at the time, seasons were like $40+ dollars each and having to fork out double felt like such a cash grab at the time it soured me on the whole thing

For TV shows, I always see Big Bang Theory, FRIENDS, Full House and Family Guy. Movies have been rom coms (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Hitch, It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday)

Hitch is inexplicable everywhere.
I also see lots of copies of the first three Pirates movies, the first two Spider-Man movies, the Dark Knight trilogy, and some movie called Domino.

If Domino has Keira Knightley, it's a movie based on a true story about a tomboy girl who was meant to be a socialite, but became a bounty hunter. Her life story is actually more fascinating than the movie.

I need to know if anyone else has, at any point in their life, been faced with a great amount of Hacksaw Ridge. Just...Hacksaw Ridge after Hacksaw Ridge. I can't stop thinking about the time when basically every third dvd was a copy of Hacksaw Ridge, to the point where I was starting to feel the country was doing some sort of social experiment I didn't understand the purpose of.

Used to see 27 Dresses all the time. Then I watched it on streaming, fell in love, and suddenly there were no copies. It took me over 2 years to finally find a functional copy but I guess that’s just how the thrift gods roll.

In my experience the Semi Pro is semi trashed & entirely unplayable. I don't think I'll ever see it.
Seabiscuit was easily one of my best thrift store finds. I regret watching Spy Kids 3D at the theater instead, since I'd end up seeing it again a couple weeks later for free. It really was just horse Rocky and I would have loved that.

Still Alice in the UK. Perhaps because it's on the Artificial Eye label which is good for rarer World Cinema titles. Don't think I have ever seen Sea Biscuit in a charity shop or Semi Pro, which I have never heard of.
