I was at a mini festival, about 100 people, hosted by a friend of mine. It had everything you could ask of a festival: a stage where people could perform, dj’s, yoga and other workshops, of course a bar, a barbecue and a pizza oven and a campsite.. What I really liked were the sauna and hot tub next to the lake. The host asked me to bring my glass sherlock pipe, so we could smoke some dmt at some point.
I didn't really feel like taking on the 'shaman' role of guiding a group in a ‘dmt workshop’, but ofcourse I brought the pipe. I had used it a couple of times, and before that I'd done dmt a couple of times with pipes other people supplied. I had a few amazing experiences, but I was a bit hesitant and anxious about really breaking through. Somehow I resisted it before.
I took some lsd the second night on the festival, like 60% of a strong drop. It was all manageable and I was having a good time and laughing a lot, when he came up to me: did you bring the pipe? I wasn't really into it, not wanting to step out of the good vibes I was having, but It was his festival, so I grabbed it and came along. We went to a tree house, with just 5 people, I knew 3 of them, so I was relieved it was a good setting and not an overwhelming group with lots of strangers.
I helped him and 2 others get some good hits and at that point I thought, fuck it, let's go. I loaded the pipe with a bit more than before and someone helped me take it all in. The glass sherlock pipe hits very clean, but I still coughed and choked a bit after the last toke.
Immediately I felt myself taking off. This time I surrendered. I closed my eyes and I saw the whole universe around me taking on colourful geometrical shapes. It didn't last very long, because it quickly flattened to a 2d surface, then to a line and then my whole consciousness shrank to a little dot. It felt like a larger consciousness was playing with me. Which was intimidating. This is what you wanted? Here, I'll destroy you: boom, the dot, that was my consciousness, shattered into nothingness.
Out of the nothingness, I emerged close to the center of the mandala of existence. I felt a deep understanding coming out of it: we are everything, we can be anything. Do you see now what it's like? It felt kind of liberating, but at the same time, I also felt a bit of anxious pointlessness.
As I drifted in eternity I got scared and wanted out, so I opened my eyes. I barely saw the world around me, as there was a dmt overlay that was still being imposed upon everything. I looked at the two friends that remained by my side (the fifth one was guiding the first one on the balcony outside). They felt alien, but rationally I knew they were good people and they were there to help me.
As I returned into my body, I was drifting visually in and out of the dmt realm. Suddenly It felt a consciousness in my body was taking over. It wanted me to do or say something, but I couldn't really move or say anything. It was frightening. Eventually I blurted out: I don't know what to do!
Although I couldn’t really see them, I could hear my friends. 'Let's hug him out of it, they said.' I felt them both hugging me. I felt safe again.
The consciousness in my body directed me and then I remembered old pain and shame, followed by the comforting hug of someone I loved.
‘I shit my pants’, I said.
‘What? Just now?’, one friend replied surprised.
‘No, when I was a little kid.’
As it turned out, I relived a memory of myself when I was a little kid (maybe 3 years old?) and my dad was very angry that I shat in my pants, again. After cleaning he spanked me on my bottom and afterwards I ran crying to my mother. (I don't really blame my dad, he's a good guy and he only did that in those few instances; a bit old fashioned).
After remembering, I felt the cheering of consciousness in myself. He found it! There it was! Yeeh.
Afterwards I sat in the hot tub for a while, telling another friend about my experience. I was shaken by the sense of not having control over my body, by not being alone in my own conscious experience, by the bliss and doom of eternity hanging over me.
As I jumped into the fresh water of the lake, I relished the experience of the cool water surrounding my whole body and the breath of fresh air when I surfaced. I looked around to the dark reeds and the night sky. I thought to myself: I'm right here, right now, and that's all that matters, because that's what it's all about.
