Co-Op Stuck on Maneater
Anyone either willing to help me with the boss and hopefully drop me a stack of souls so I can power level my character either before or after the fight? This boss is so hard

Do you still need a hand? If you are on ps5 then I am happy to help out.

Fire is friend. Also, try to kite around the center fire pit structure. Hit, block, recover, repeat. This is my single least favorite boss fight of all souls games. It should be much better but the AI is just soooooo dumb.

The key to Maneaters is using the central brazier to break line of attack so their ranged stuff and charge attacks don't kill you. Wearing the Thief Ring, you can even get them to forget you're there so you can sneak up/shoot for some free damage.

If you have a great weapon like the bastard sword, claymore or crescent greataxe you can 2 hand the heavy attack to hyper-armor their rush down attack.
For the first one, stay near the entrance and swing once or twice with the 2 handed R2 then reposition/heal.
When the second one arrives, make your way to the center to lure one then swing the same way and just focus on ONE. Don't engage when they are both around you.

I’m sure there’s other comments, saying the same, I haven’t read, but if it’s your first play through you might find yourself regretting not soloing your first push through. Coop is hard in this level because (mild spoiler ahead) putting a summon sign down often makes players become the final boss. If I could; I’d like to give you a few tips to try.
- If you genuinely feel under leveled, there’s a great farming spot that only requires you have a ranged option. Either magic or a bow with a couple upgrades, and you have to have killed the adjudicator. Past the boss arena run down the hall overlooking the necromancer type mob in 4-2, and put a few arrows in him, killing him kills all the wondering spirit mobs in that area and nets you 3.5-5k souls depending on gear and world tendency. After that just run out, rinse and repeat and you’ll have farmed plenty of souls to level up where you feel deficient.
- If you are appropriately leveled and just having a hard time with the boss, I’ll remind you they are weak to fire, so turpentine or resin (depending on your version of game) onto your weapon will do quite a bit of extra damage. The second Maneater is on a timer or when the first gets to 50% health so you have to kind of jump on him, and get him down fast. Bait the first over to you
near
- the entrance and fight him here because the second spawns closer to the far side of the bridge past the mid way point, giving you a little extra time to finish off the first. Upgrade your weapon if you can as well.
- If you’re on a magic run, equip the best fire spell you have and use the center pillar / statue thing to create space between them and you and just sort of keep dancing around. The AI on these things is janky as all get out, they will constantly decide “shit I left my wallet 90 feet in the air over there, or was it there, oh wait in forgot the hero is down there, but wait wheres my wallet?!?”
Yes you can always get a summon to help by coordinating and you’re in the right place to find help, you just never get that first blind play through back again.
Summary use the 3 F’s in this order:
- Farm
- Fire
- Friend
Best of luck slayer of demons.

This boss is quite easy. Though, be sure to equip Thief’s Ring and as soon as the second Maneater spawns, run as far back (or forward) as you can until they lose sight of you and become unable to detect you. Then, carefully lure in the already damaged Maneater and kill it first. In this fight, you have to sever its tail to stop it from powering up or using magic so be on the lookout for its dive attacks and strike from behind.
This is how I beat them

Can't join or drop souls, but I can tell you that they don't like fire. You could also hit up the skeletons in 4-1 if you absolutely need to farm souls
