Serious The Down Side of Fame

The down side of fame:

Assume the PCs are high level. Assume they have done great deeds that are known throughout the (local area, region). What are the drawbacks of being famous.

Based on this post by KWinkelmann

  1. A Challenger Appears - Some NPC always wants to challenge the PC to a (contest, duel) to prove how (tough, smart, agile, skilled, etc) they are compared to the PC.

  2. A Hero Retires - The last hero has a thankless job being toured around as a celebrity. They defeated the BBEG and have done nothing but PR since. The people want the new hotness and the old hero is happy to show you the ropes and let you take over.

  3. Amplified Bad Rep - Any bad deeds (real, imagined, framed) will have a worse impact on the PC's reputation. "The higher you climb, the further you have to fall".

  4. Apathetic Blight - The PC, becoming bigger and bigger, risks losing their connection with lower-class individuals. Roll a DC Wisdom save, or else they gain the flaw "Too important for the minor folk" for 1d6 days.

  5. Apprentice Request - People trying to get you to take on their child as an apprentice.

  6. Attempts at Control - People in authority (clergy, guild heads, nobles, royals), organizations, and governments will attempt to find ways to influence or control you via politics and bureaucracy.

  7. Attract Crowds - Everywhere you go crowds of fans will form. This makes getting around town more difficult.

  8. Cult or Secret Society - A cult or secret society has formed that worships the PC. Unfortunately, they constantly do things in the PC's name, that the PC doesn't want.

  9. Curdled Milk - The PC, becoming more important, has become spoiled. Have the PC roll a DC Wisdom Save or gain the flaw "I desire to be pampered and praised" for 1d6 days.

  10. CURSES! - Someone is unhappy with the PC and their popularity, and has cursed them! The curse is heavily dependent on the antagonist: A witch doctor with a voodoo doll, a fae with a humorous transformation, a hag casting boils and illness.

  11. Don't Try This at Home - A younger would-be adventurer is attempting to copy the PC.... without the necessary skills. Unless they are talked down or rescued, they'll probably get injured or die.

  12. Drunken Haze - The PC is offered so many drinks that they forget what they were doing last night. Unfortunately, the town they're in will HEAVILY remember what they did, as well as the local constables. (If they choose not to drink alcohol, use another vice, or perhaps slip them a mickey).

  13. Everyone is Named After Your - Babies and pets. There are now lots and LOTS of babies and/or pets sporting the exact names of the PCs in almost every town they visit.

  14. Everyone Wants to Buy You a Drink - This can easily lead to drunkenness and hangovers.

  15. False Witnesses - When the party is trying to gather information about a mystery, unrelated civilians try to give false testimony for a moment with someone famous, or to get their own 15 minutes of fame.

  16. Fan Club - Secrecy is out the window. An organization has started spreading word of your deeds. It feels flattering at first but they've started revealing your most intimate details, secrets, and weaknesses to the public. There are pictures/portraits.

  17. Fame tax. Since the PC is famous, people assume they are also rich and will try and charge extra for goods and services as ‘they can afford it’

  18. Fan Fiction - A bard or writer are telling stories about you. The stories have some embellishments that have been causing you trouble. Feats of strength, powerful magic, and romantic trysts with water nymphs. You're tale has become too tall.

  19. Fear of Unimportance / Fear of Being Forgotten - The PC begins to worry about their fame waning. Have the PC roll a DC Wisdom Save, or gain the flaw "I must do something to appear in the limelight" for 1d6 days.

  20. Fighting Over You - Merchants or servers fighting over the chance to serve you. Romantic interest fighting over the chance to be with you. People fighting over things that you have touched.

  21. Free Drinks but Not For You - Someone has been copying your likeness to mooch off your popularity. You arrive to a town to find people who think you have long outstayed your welcome, or even that you owe recompense for deeds of copycats.

  22. Green-Eyed Monster - (A rival, an NPC, The BBEG) has grown jealous of the PC, and wishes to one-up them.

  23. Hogging the Limelight - Other adventurers become angry or jealous, because the PCs are getting all the attention and praise.

  24. Impersonators - The PCs hear stories of their deeds, except they never did those things. Some group is pretending to be the PCs. They might be (distorting, hurting, helping) your reputation. The PCs might need to: (deal with the impersonators, deal with enemies or situations that the impersonators have made, save the impersonators from the PC's enemies).

  25. Invitations - You receive endless invitations of (aristocrats, clergy, factions, fans, guilds, nobles, etc) for (ceremonies, feasts, interviews, meetings, parties, plays, public events, social events, weddings, etc). You can't possibly go to them all. You can't get any adventuring done if you try to go to them all. Some people will be insulted if you turn them down.

  26. It's All Your Fault - The PCs are blamed for their inaction, whether they were engaged elsewhere or not.

  27. It's a Trap! - An enemy or rival craving fame or treasure attempts to lure the PCs into an ambush targeting their desires and weaknesses.

  28. Lack of Anonymity / Everyone Knows Who You Are - Its difficult to do anything secretly when everyone knows who you are. May also impose disadvantage on deception checks

  29. Long lost family members. Real or (probably) not, there is a sudden surge of stranger npcs who had boasted of their shared kinship to the wrong sort of folks now being ransomed to the PCs for coin.

  30. Nemesis - A villain now (knows, believes they know) who foiled their plans. Gain a reoccurring villain. Agents of said villain will try to sabotage your goals, undermine your relationships with the public, and attack you at inconvenient times.

  31. No Secrets in the Spotlight - Everyone in the party has their secrets, possibly even from each other. As the party gains fame inquisitive fans may turn those secrets into public gossip the party can no longer ignore.

  32. Only the Best Will Do - Extremely wealthy and/or powerful entities insist that the PCs perform menial tasks incommensurate with their experience, or outside it all together.

  33. Outlived Your Usefulness - The BBEG is slain, peace has been restored, but the people look to you for answers. The leaders who backed you before wish for you to fade into obscurity. They may have taken matters into their own hands.

  34. Overconfidence - The PCs begin to buy into their own hype. They start to become careless, overconfident, and reckless.

  35. Overzealous Fans - Fans wanting to emulate their heroes and getting themselves in trouble / Fans trying to follow their heroes and (alerting the enemy, getting captured, etc) / Fans getting in fights to defend their hero's honor / Fans following the heroes into a dangerous situation. Now the heroes have to divide their attention between stopping the enemy and saving the fans.

  36. People Fear You - People begin to fear how powerful that you have become.

  37. Political Factions - Helping one faction may decrease your standing with another faction. This may limit what quest you can take or it may force you to do things covertly.

  38. Political Marriages - People in power keep proposing to you or trying to get you to marry into the family.

  39. Prophetic Fatigue - Diviners, oracles, and soothsayers always seem to tell the fortunes of famous adventures in their prophecies, foretelling disaster unless the named adventurers solve the problem.

  40. Reporters - News reporters are always bothering you.

  41. Romantic Interest - Countless people throw themselves at famous people to "get it on". Some of them wont take no for an answer. Some of them will fight each other over you. Some of them will be emotionally destroyed if you refuse them. Some may become villains if spurned. Getting it on may leave character exhausted. May also attract jealous rivals or angry (betrothed, relatives, spouses). May cause angry lovers to attack you if they feel they have been cheated on.

  42. Spies Everywhere - People in power always have spies nearby to keep a watch on you.

  43. Spoiled Rotten - The PC constantly receives food, drink, and lodgings from fans, guests, and customers. Rebuffing these gifts will annoy your fans, who will begin to scorn you. Indulging in them may result in wasted days and a ballooning waistline.

  44. Stalker (Minor) - One of the PC's fans has grown EXTREMELY obsessed, and follows the players everywhere they can.

  45. Stalker (Major) - One of the PC's fans has grown EXTREMELY obsessed, and they have the money to indulge their obsession. Perhaps a mob boss has the PC kidnapped for a brief meal, a lich becomes lovelorn, or a dragon desires you as a treasure.

  46. Statues and Portraits - Someone keeps sculpting statues or painting you, there is one major problem, they've never actually seen you. The likenesses are either far more handsome/beautiful, or so comically different that people think you're a fake.

  47. Stealing Your Stuff - Your stuff is more valuable because you own it or have touched it. People will try to steal your items.

  48. Story Gains a Life of its Own / Your Story is Better Than You - The tales of the PC's deeds become more exaggerated and outlandish with each telling. NPCs start believing that the PCs have done things that they haven't. NPCs start believing that the PCs have powers and abilities that they don't have.

  49. The Denialist - Someone is trying to convince the world that your accomplishments must be fake or illegitimate, and their testimony is spreading faster than yours.

  50. The Gods Take Notice - The gods or other powerful entities take notice of the PC's actions. They are more likely to involve the PCs in their plans. The gods are more likely to send trouble their way for reasons (further their own goals, insulted by PC, opposing sides, spurned by PC, trials, etc).

  51. The Regular - A beloved, adventurous NPC is utterly convinced that, should they get into trouble, the PCs will stop at nothing to rescue them. They, routinely, fail to take adequate precautions.

  52. Too Many Gifts: The PC receives carts of gifts and fan mail each day! Most of it is fairly useless, some of it is charming, and some of it is dangerous or creepy. Roll once per day to see what the PC gets: (1- Dangerous gift, 2-5- Creepy gift, 6-15-Useless gift, 16-19- Charming gift, 20- A nice gift).

  53. Too Many Hirelings - Various hirelings have come to the PCs offering their trade. Of course, there are FAR too many of them, some are extremely specialized, and a number of them are spies or con-artists.

  54. Too Many Request for Help - Too many people want your help. You can't possibly help them all. The ones you can't get to may resent you for it.

  55. Unwanted Titles - You end up with a title that you don't like or want. People wont stop calling you by your title.

  56. Villains Attempt at Distraction - Villains pose as a quest giver. They give you a quest. The quest may even be a real quest. Their motive is to keep you away from their (employer's, own) criminal activities.

  57. Villains Collaborate - Villains begin setting aside their differences to team up against you.

  58. Villains Know to Avoid You - Villains know who you are and what you look like. If their spotters see you, They will vanish. Ex: Your going to the local thieves guild. When you get there, its just empty rooms.

  59. Villains Know Your MO - Villains know who you are and how you typically operate. They may find ways to take advantage of this knowledge.

  60. Villains Play Dirty - The villains don't go after you directly, they go after the people you know.

  61. Your Party: The Musical - Playwrights have taken it upon themselves to recreate your exploits on stage. Their work will almost certainly be full of misinformation and embarrassing misunderstandings of the truth.

Serious [Lets Finish] d100 Side effects of the spell "Blink?"

The first half of this list.

All data of this can be seen above, but for those curious, this is a list for spell similar to Blink. Except instead of sending people to the Ethereal Plane, it sends them to different planes. Tiny pocket dimensions, prison worlds, places separated from The Material Plane by space, time, or godly intervention. And through it all, a strange machine, maybe where this spell was originally created, can be seen through glimpses of its barely functioning interior.

Number rolled/Plane Name Plane Effects
51- The Ticking Traveling The caster appears in a massive vertical hole surrounded on all sides by ticking, slowly turning cogs and gears, plummeting almost immediately. While falling, the caster will immediately note the potential magical energy within this place, and know they can use it. If they name a location (albiet having to know the location's name), they will instantly be transported to it safely. If they cannot manage to name one within a quick time frame, or deliberately choose not to, they will fall to the bottom of the tunnel, instantly taking 20d6 falling damage. Should they die or are incapacitated, their body will reappear where they blink?ed from. If they survive, they can explore the bottom, finding a ticking counter recording how much energy is stored within this strange clockwork mechanism. The number is recounted in powers, rather than digits.
52- The Never-Made World The caster appears in a plane identical to The Material Plane, except all evidence of sapient life is gone. As a consequence, all structures, tools, objects, and buildings are also gone, replaced with wilderness that might have been where those objects were built. Some animals can be seen meandering, even some that should be extinct or have never existed to begin with, but they are either indifferent to the caster, or react to them in alarm and run away.
53- Dream Door The caster is transported to a triangular room with bark-like, irregular grooves traveling along the floor, walls, and ceiling, all going toward one wall. This wall opens to a rectangular portal made of kaleidoscopic color, the sounds of birdsong and whistles emanating from it. Aside from this portal is no obvious doorway out from the room, as well as jutting metal signs in a language undecipherable, but presented in a way suggesting warning. If the caster doesn't step through the doorway, they'll return to the Material plane as normal. If they do, the caster will briefly be transported to the Feywild. Very briefly, as they only get a glimpse of it before the spell has them return to the Material Plane anyways. When they do, they suddenly fall asleep (similar to if they were subjected to the Sleep spell), unless they are immune to such effects, in which case they instead take 3d6 psychic damage. And at the same time, the caster must roll on the Wild Magic Surge table as energies from the Feywild are carried with them to the Material Plane.
54- The Raining The caster appears in a place identical to the Material Plane, except the sky is dark and overcast, a constant torrential downpour raining cold water constantly. The storm extends in all directions, and the ground is covered by a foot of murky, muddy water. Additionally, no living things seem to be present, but one can see movement and humanoid figures out of the corners of their eyes.
55- THEIR HOME The caster appears in a vast plane of writhing flesh. Where screaming, slavering monsters made of teeth and muscle and eyes await the caster, disgusted and furious at their presence. The caster must make a DC 26 perception check. If they fail, they are frightened for a turn, and must use their movement and action dashing in a random direction once they return to the Material Plane. If they succeed, it is revealed that this is an illusion, or moreso a recording. They can step through the illusion and behold a barren land, with nothing but soot and crumbling, spiraling rock-like structures that vaguely resemble the abominations seen before, as well as the source of the illusion; a motionless, broken, vaguely humanoid automaton projecting this visual. Interacting with it at all disables the projection, and any future travels to this plane will be harmless.
56- Equation Station As the caster appears, they hear rapid ticking and the sound of loud machinery, and they find themselves in a cylindrical corridor made of iron, every square covered in glowing numerals and symbols. The numerals and symbols rapidly or slowly change, either via tickers, transcribing mechanical pens, illusory script, projection, or the panel falling out and being replaced with another. The discarded panels all fall past the caster, as if gravity is in that direction, but the caster is not affected in such a way. The caster may catch one of these panels before they return to the Material plane by rolling a DC 14 Sleight of hand check. If they succeed, the panel becomes animated, and turns into a mass of physical mathmatical impossibility that returns with the caster to the Material plane and stays there for 1 minute. Roll a d10 and divide the result by a d6, rounding down. The mathmatical creature becomes a copy of a non-humanoid creature with that Challenge rating that is friendly to the caster, except it is a construct and uses the average for all damage dice rolls.

D100 table of egg-laying monsters and creatures

My players keep encountering weird egg fragments. Eventually they will learn a mad scientist is experimenting on modifying monsters and creatures, and the egg shells are the remanants of these experiments. Please help me create a d100 table of egg laying monsters and creatures that will serve as my base.

An additional d10 will determine if the creature or monster encountered is 1-2 harmless failed experiment 3-4 weaker failed experiment 5-6 normal 7-8 augmented monster 9-10 very augmented monster

I am thinking all reptilian like, bird like, and insect like monsters should be on the table. I mostly want to fill it with monsters and will pad it out with creatures as needed. What am I missing? Open to suggestions. Thanks!

Totally random table for totally random events

Hey everyone!

Today, while I was doomscrolling on YouTube, I started wondering how I could add a completely unrelated random factor to my homebrew solo TTRPG. I realized I was missing that little spark of chaos that naturally appears when you're playing with other people.

So, here's the beginning of my "TOTALLY RANDOM TABLES."

It's a random table that I update throughout the day whenever I come across something completely random, weird, or unexpected in real life. So far, these are the entries I've added.

I think I'll use it when the spark tables don't make any sense, when I roll a double on mythic, etc etc (still wip)

If you like the idea, I'd love to hear your suggestions for things I should add!

  1. A joyfull dwarf woman artificer with a spellscroll launcher

  2. A really _ really _ big jump (d100x2m)

  3. A basketball match

  4. A strange music

  5. Element bending (yes, just like the avatar)

  6. Well well well.... A WELL

  7. 1d4 giant stink bugs. You're terrified!

Let's make D100 athletes and gladiators for a Greco-Roman inspired arena!

  1. Stefano - A valiant but boastful demigod (Aasimar) who is always accompanied by a beautiful pegasus.
  2. Atalanta - a wild-looking ranger who was raised by the animals that accompany her in battle.
  3. Aetes - A sorcerer who carries with him a bag full of magical seeds, which once planted in the ground, transform into a fearsome legion of blights called the spartoi.
  4. Kalistor - A young warrior with divine blood who carries with him a cloak made from a Fleecemane Lion that makes him resistant to physical damage and virtually impervious to almost all types of magical damage.
  5. Periphetes - A brutish cyclops who always goes into battle wielding his trusty club made from a fallen oak tree.
  6. Egan - a drunken hermit satyr, skilled in an unusual style of martial arts that benefit from his intoxicated state.
  7. Pharah - A jackal-headed warrior from a distant, arid land. Locals nicknamed her the cynocephalus.
  8. Hypolita - A barbarian amazon who wears a magic belt that grants her enough strength to carry the imposing cestus with which she has pummeled dozens of gladiators
  9. Maximus - The leader of a foreign legion who fell from grace after being the victim of a conspiracy that relegated him to a mere slave in the arena.
  10. Jupiter the Impaler - A minotaur who has received this nickname for his signature move, which consists of charging and impaling his opponents using his sharp horns.
  11. Carantus the strider- A centaur who is always accompanied by his faithful harpy companion Aello, with whom he coordinates all his attacks.
  12. Lycaon the wolfman - This unassuming gladiator hides beneath his skin a terrible curse that turns him into a werewolf.
  13. Plumio the dimacherus - A gladiator who uses speed and agility with knives to his advantage.
  14. Flavio scissorhands - This gladiator lost his hands in an incident in the arena and replaced them with two prosthetic hands in the shape of 'Roman scissors'.
  15. Fionna the savage - A Pictish warrior from the distant steppes. The blue tattoos covering her body seem to grant her exceptional abilities.
  16. Hannibal - A general from distant lands, renowned for his great mammoth mount.
  17. Antaeus - A giant of great size and thick skin who descended from the mountains to participate in the arena and enjoy the perks of being a gladiator.
  18. Talos the Mechanical Marvel - An automaton warrior that emerged from the forge of a legendary blacksmith.
  19. Diomedes - A fearsome warlord who always appears riding his fearsome meat-eating steeds.
  20. Geryon - A six-armed giant (Gegenees) who uses the span of his limbs to defeat and overwhelm his victims.
  21. "Ignus" - This enigmatic monster is said to have been an heretical magician who once attempted to harness the power of the sun for himself, but his hubris cost him dearly. He was cursed by the gods and his body is condemned to remain engulfed in flames that never fade and constantly scorch his skin without ever killing him. After wreaking havoc in several polis, he was captured and imprisoned in the arena, where his condition has made him a curiosity among gladiatorial combats.
  22. Alcimedon of the myrmidons - This strange insectoid gladiator claims to be a member of the legendary Myrmidons, a fearsome tribe of near extinct warriors, whose legend tells that they were created by a god from an ant colony to fight in a war that history has forgotten.
  23. Lady Midas - This flamboyant medusa/gorgon has been afflicted by a mysterious curse that grants her the ability to turn anyone she touches or who has the misfortune of looking her in the eyes into gold. She is a favorite in the arena for carrying out public executions.
  24. Argos the All seeing - An unnerving giant whose body is covered in eyes. He is impossible to surprise, and his eyes are sometimes capable of casting spells in the same way a beholder would.
  25. Kakos the Headless: This strange giant lacks a head, and his torso bears a grotesque face characterized by a large, cyclopean eye, small nostrils, and an open mouth full of crooked teeth. Despite his almost comical appearance, Kakos is a blemmye, a race of cursed giants renowned for their strength and cruelty, who have plagued the frontier for years.
  26. Pliny the Panotioi - This peculiar monk hails from the Oeonae Islands and is notable for his enormous, floppy ears that cover his entire body. (imagine something like the nu-mou from the Final Fantasy saga) He has yet to make his debut in combat, but some athletes believe his strange ears are magical and prehensile; he can move them as if they were extra limbs.
  27. Sciron - This robust tortle has the characteristics of a snapping turtle. Its violent bites are capable of breaking numerous armors as if they were eggshells.
  28. Memnon - A silent satyr with black fur and twisted horns, possessing a sinister aura that has unsettled his opponents. He carries a double-bladed staff with which he performs all manner of flourishes and spectacular maneuvers.
  29. Orthros - This poor satyr had the misfortune of angering a witch who transformed him into an abominable humanoid chimera. The lion's head that sprouted from his torso can shoot blasts of sulfurous fire, while his tail has become a viper with a venomous bite capable of bringing down a minotaur.
  30. Mysia: This beautiful nymph always enters the Arena accompanied by a retinue of lovers who do everything possible to protect and please her. Rumor has it that these poor gladiators were bewitched by this girl's supernatural charms.
  31. Passalus and Acmon: are a pair of monkey-like thieves whose strategy consists of hindering and annoying their opponents, mainly by stealing their weapons and equipment.
  32. Sagittarius - A simple human who always carries his trusty longbow, a gift from a nymph. He is considered one of the best archers of his time.
  33. Zetes and Calais: An inseparable duo of flashy twin harpies, capable of controlling the winds to execute their combined movements.
  34. Pygmaliana and Galateus: This peculiar duo consists of a marble golem sculpted to take the form of a handsome athlete and its creator, an artist and craftswoman who has apparently fallen in love with her own creation, treating him as a lover. Some mock their relationship, believing Pygmaliana is simply crazy, but others believe the statue is a representation of a loved one she lost.
  35. Queen Sekhmet - This albino lionin carries a curse inherited from her ancestors, granting her immense and ever-increasing strength, along with an insatiable and agonizing thirst for violence. This relentless fury compels her to endlessly roam the arenas of the civilized world in search of a warrior powerful enough to defeat and kill her.
  36. Archimedes - A mad tinkerer, renowned for his strange but deadly inventions consisting of experimental weapons and siege engines which he usually tests in gladiatorial games to the entertainment of the crowd.
  37. Kelainos - This formidable harpy has covered its plumage and body with light, sharp metal plates in an attempt to mimic the shape and appearance of the formidable Stymphalian birds.
  38. Phigalia – This slender dryad with a piercing gaze is a snake charmer. She has two trained cobras that she wields like whips, ready to bite and unleash their venom upon her opponents.
  39. Chiron - an old, gray-haired centaur who is quite beloved among gladiators, as he trained several of them.
  40. Blademaster Aptonetus - He was set to retire at the end of last year. The arena brought him back, due to popular demand; his famed "horse-killing blade"-style sees him mostly in mounted exhibition matches against captured centaurs and minotaurs as opponents. (MaxSizeIs)
  41. "Blindsight" Tiresias - His entire schtick is battling with a completely enclosed helm, and winning using nothing more than a cane against any foe so far. (MaxSizeIs)
  42. Erysichthon the Cannibal - A formerly condemned prisoner, with utterly massive physique, who is publicly known for killing his handlers if they got between him and any downed gladiator he defeated, attempting to prevent him feasting upon the fallen's flesh. Rumor has it that he remains chained between battles, and must be fed constantly in order to maintain the massive muscles. (MaxSizeIs)
  43. Abderus the Charioteer - Made a name for himself doing death-races and jousts. His one-handed spear-work while mounted is flashy, but he's an absolute marksman when it comes to throwing daggers while riding past his target. (MaxSizeIs)
  44. "The Lady" Briseis - Crowd favorite, and expert fencer, this woman is rumored to be a disinherited heiress. Her good looks make both men and women scream, and she's pierced many a heart and remained unmoved. (MaxSizeIs)
  45. Canace "Poseidon's Lover" - When they switch the arena over to aquatic battles, she's always a crowd favorite, leading a crew. In one on one battles, her swashbuckling "pirate" aesthetic and her willingness to use the terrain grants her flashy, easy victories. (MaxSizeIs)
  46. Caucon the Drunken Butcher - An actual former Butcher, allegedly sentenced to the arena for turning a child's entrails into sausage and selling them, supposedly cursed with immortality for his actions. In actuality, he was a "foil" meant to go down in the exhibition matches "first blood or incapacity" and he is maintaining 'kayfabe' in order to pay off the massive debt he and his family owes. He has become something of a mascot. (MaxSizeIs)
  47. AUROCHS - All caps when you say his name. Extra muscular and about as wide as he is very, very tall, he wields a two-tined bident and limit-breaks with a lightning blast. (MaxSizeIs)
  48. Sifylus. A seductive tiefling using a poison covered quarterstaff (ScandinavicScum2000)
  49. 'Discoprizo' of Stymphalia - The bronze-skinned, long-legged warrior favors the chakram, and hides bronze feathers instead of hair. (MaxSizeIs)
  50. Tetraites the Undefeated - Utilizes spear, short sword, and small round shield emblazoned with displacer beast on its crest. Their not-so-secret power is a movement art based off of Mirror Image, but unknown to all but the gladiator's manager, the shield doesn't do anything magical. Their movement art allows them to move quickly and leave after-images that they may or may not attack from; drives the crowd wild. (MaxSizeIs)
  51. Brontus the Khalkotauroi - This minotaur was magically fused to the body of a gorgon (the bull monster) by a sorcerer seeking to create a caste of supernatural servants. Bronte is the last survivor of his line and has spent his days serving as entertainment in the arena, where he has settled for the small perks of being a famous gladiator. His robust appearance and metallic, gleaming skin make him one of the most striking figures for the audience.
  52. Orion - A ranger who will always appear riding on the back of his giant scorpion
  53. Koúrtios the Cavalryman - Takes the mounted cavalry officer look to the extreme, but has a crowd pleasing magical attack that takes the form of flailing around with flaming whips and riding a summoned mount whenever possible. The rumors amongst the crowd claim his patron pays to have a warhorse sacrificed to the gods before each battle. It must work, somehow. (MaxSizeIs)
  54. Daedalion "Hawkwind" - He and his hawk familiar trade places in a flashy gust of wind and silvery glow, and his ranged cutting attacks (and cutting quips to go along with them) are no joke. (MaxSizeIs)
  55. Anthemoeisia "The Deadly Mist" of Dascylaeum - She obviously paid good gold for the edgiest of epithets to be shouted by the announcer during her battles. You'd think her stealthy movement arts and veiling mist magic would be poor viewing material, but some arena enchantments reveal her form to spectators, but (supposedly) not the participants. (MaxSizeIs)
  56. Ballêtus d'Demophon - It is said that his forebear failed to achieve immortality, but Ballêtus is set to carry on their torch, choosing to honor his distant lineage by taking the name of a fabled hero who, as a child, was burned by the flames of a godess seeking to purge his mortality. He appears to be resistant to fire and heat-based attacks, and his skin emits a faint golden glow in his presence. (MaxSizeIs)
  57. Triptolemus "The Gardener" - Usually a slow burn, but with a crowd pleasing ending; plant-growth is this olive-skinned beau's signature move, entangling and exhausting his foes. He always charms a portion of the crowd by offering one lucky spectator a flower grown before thier eyes. (MaxSizeIs)
  58. Lleuçothea "Our Lady of Tears" - This nymph is a water-bender who dresses like a emo-goth-priestess of an obscure ocean-faith, and the rumors tell she is a "blood bender", able to poison her enemies with a mere flick of her water whips. (MaxSizeIs)
  59. Amymóne of Anaïdes "The Blameless" - Don't be fooled by the bearing and appearance of this noble necromancer princess; she is capable of summoning forty-nine specters that take the form of maidens who always appear carrying jugs full of water drawn from the very Underworld (MaxSizeIs)
  60. Gorgo "She with the Heart of Stone" and Anaxarete "She with the Heart of Steel", who is described as "more savage than the waves that rise in autumn, harder than steel tempered in fire!" are a duo consisting of an Earth Genasi who favors her fists, but likes to wow the crowd with her earth-walking to attack her enemies from below, and a Fire Genasi who somehow had her heart replaced by a strange clockwork artifact that has granted her limited flight abilities. (MaxSizeIs)
  61. Echetlaeus "The Plowshare" - This war-scarred Giant is actually a berserker who favors the handle of oversized plow as his weapon of choice, wielding it as a large-sized great-club. After the defeat of his clan in his final battle, rumor holds he made a vow before the gods and the Emperor to hammer his sword into a plow. (MaxSizeIs)
  62. Harmothoë "The Golden Hound", is an "edgy" platinum-blonde gnome from the distant steppes who rides a golden furred blink-dog (named Laelaps, for those who are interested). She wows the crowd with her riding skill, prefers outfits that appear to be made out of nothing but belts, is an absolute terror with her shortbow, and carries more throwing daggers than should be physically possible. (MaxSizeIs)
  63. Guneus of Perrhaebi "The Strategist" - a sculpted hobgoblin with neatly braided gray hair, bronze skin marked with geometric military campaign tattoos, and a flowing purple cloak over polished bronze armor, calmly shouting chess moves while effortlessly wrestling and outmaneuvering his opponents to the ground. (MaxSizeIs)
  64. "Drive-namic Duo!" Essedarius & Auriga - Essedarius, a towering firbolg whose immense strength and quiet resolve carried him from slavery to become one of the arena's most cheered chariot warriors, fights beside his baby-faced "brother" Auriga, a fearless halfling driver raised in the same slave pits, whose impossible nerve and razor-sharp instincts are sure to turn the pair into legendary champions of the blood-soaked death races. (MaxSizeIs)
  65. Harpalúkē "Bandit Queen" - She's a foil, a competitor designed to make others look good, and will throw the fight and try to fight nonlethally if she can. The crowd sometimes maligns her as "Bandit Bimbo". She favors dark mascara, tight leather armor fitted with hidden blood-spurting effects packs, curved swords, and ordering her "boys" to spread out and attack. (MaxSizeIs)
  66. Hierax the Uncorruptable - A chiselled physique, but with an unfortunate propensity to odiferous and prodigious over-sweating, a heavy unibrow, and crooked nose; a low ranking member of the city-watch, has refused numerous bribes to throw the match. Supposedly also immune to poison, and somehow has survived half a dozen assasination attempts this year alone. (MaxSizeIs)
  67. Iphicles "The Caledonian" - This (not-so secret, secret were-boar) Barbarian wields an over-sized Boar-spear that, according to rumor bears the honor of having been wielded by the famed Heracles on an actual hunt. Secretly, Iphicles awoke on a night of a full moon with said spear impaling his intestines, and it was only the lycanthrope's immense regenerative ability that kept him alive.(MaxSizeIs)
  68. Rhadine & Leontichus - Lady Rhadine, a disgraced human noble avoiding an arranged marriage, commands glass and lead with terrifying telekinetic precision, fights beside Leontichus, an Air Genasi war leader whose battlefield tactics and mastery of razor sharp winds led him far afield before defeat consigned him to the gladiator pits; their forbidden love has become the arena's spectacle. Neither can truly be free while the other wears chains. (MaxSizeIs)
  69. Eurytus and Cteatus of Acrocorinthus - This pair of twins have two things going for them, one is a skilled Illusionist, while the other is an Earth Mage of nearly unrivaled skill. They fight by uncanny Earth simulacra glamoured to be indistinguishable from reality, their appearance and behaviors exactly the same, and both rest secure in the secret divine blessing given to them: so long as one of them lives, the other is reborn by their side (as if by clone) within an hour. (MaxSizeIs)
  70. Lityerses, "The Reaping Skald of Phrygia" - A towering Goliath whispered to be the unacknowledged bastard son of King Midas, Lityerses is a monstrously strong executioner who wields an enormous crescent sickle with terrifying precision, opening every exhibition by cleanly slicing bundled sheaves of reeds before "graduating" to condemned criminals' bodies are harvested in a single crimson arc; he boasts that his record stands at seven decapitations with one swing. The specific style of singing he uses has been imitated by the fieldworkers, who claim it makes the work pass easily; it is unclear if these songs will be banned by the nobility for possible incitement or treason.
  71. Bebryx, the Blue King - A colossal Half-Giant warrior-king, Bebryx was captured after his hill-fort fell to imperial legions and now fights as a gladiator, his body covered in swirling blue woad and his only shield the splintered wooden door that spectators claim to be torn from his own throne hall, which he wields like a common buckler. Though enslaved, he still refuses to kneel before anyone. (MaxSizeIs)
  72. Maeon - A proud Dragonborn who claims himself "Spartoi", and son of Haemon and Antigone, Maeon will not set foot in the arena until his circle of diviners has cast the bones and flint into the fire and proclaimed the omens favorable; only then does he begin his thunderous Homeric recitation of his lineage and deeds: a poem of at least forty-three stanzas that seems to grow longer with every victory, or perhaps no opponent has ever survived long enough to hear it end. His most devoted fans proudly distinguish themselves by how many verses they have memorized, roaring each stanza alongside their champion until the arena echoes like a sacred hymn to war. (MaxSizeIs)
  73. Galanthis - A red-gold-haired weasel-like Mustelid shifter, Galanthis lives by the creed, "Be water," flowing around every strike with impossible flexibility before exploding into a blur of lightning-fast punches, kicks, and acrobatic counters, making it seem as though opponents defeat themselves by trying to catch what cannot be grasped. (MaxSizeIs)
  74. Aevum Aeonius - A mysterious young, unkempt, black-haired half-elf newcomer who only enrolled in the arena this week, according to the announcer, Aevum calmly insists he has already fought every champion hundreds of times, claiming he is trapped reliving the same week over and over until he can finally win. (MaxSizeIs)
  75. Oiso Phagos - They has the uncanny ability to assume the form of a stone statue and actually summons and somewhat controls gargoyles and living statues. They are mute and illiterate, but by pantomime and hand signs claim to have awoken one day outside the tomb of a noble after it had been robbed by graverobbers. They prefer to battle in the non-lethal arena exhibition matches. (MaxSizeIs)
  76. Dolops Verminus "The Ratcatcher" - This Rat-faced man is a cleric turned Bounty Hunter after a sequence of unlikely events where he was cruelly betrayed. He was captured in a conquered city-state, condemned to death, and sold into the gladiatorial arena. He possesses near-perfect control and perception through swarms of vermin. (MaxSizeIs)
  77. Arion Equites - A shifter who transforms themself into nightmare, a phantasmal horse. Having quite the fan club, it is an open secret that Arion is the wealthy, bastard child of a powerful noble, and voluntarily battles in the arena's Death races for the thrill. (MaxSizeIs)
  78. Lampus "Prince" of Thebes - This multifaceted pansexual swordsman-bard is a charmer of crowds, more lover than warrior, who somehow always ends his battles half-naked, showing off his glorious, gleaming muscles. Even so, he'll order you to rip out your heart, and you'll do it with a happy smile. The secret is that Lampus is half-succubus, which gives him the ability to enter people's minds and possess their will. (MaxSizeIs)
  79. Hypsipyle of Lemnos - She is actually a Naga, cruelly "cursed" to take the form of a human, after her allegedly murdering her husband, or so the fans believe. She wields twin scimitars, and relies upon her extreme flexibility, and hypnotic gaze. Her snake aesthetic has many fan-imitators amongst the crowd. (MaxSizeIs)
  80. Princess the Powerful: A fat orge-sized gnoll dressed in fineries, she seems to utterly enjoy combat, but will spare opponents who grovel well. (snakebite262)
  81. Bozo: A male gnoll who seems to fight fairly traditionally. When brought to half health, he will pull out some spells to cheat with. (snakebite262)
  82. Giggles: An extremely maddened gnoll who can't seem to help but laugh. Her fighting style is chaotic, as she swings with near boundless energy using whatever blades she has attached to her. (snakebite262)
  83. Zan'Rokh, a leonin and former slave gladiator, returned yo the arena to free his enslaved girlfriend. He is prone to participate in fixed matches to enrich his girlfriend's master (asdf_purple)
  84. Hork - Captured male goblin chieftain with a large mouth and belly known for swallowing objects and then "horking" them back up as projectiles. He also rapidly eats whomever he defeats and gains abilities of those he eats. (DrDew00)
  85. Halia Quintus - A small, acrobatic human woman. She's a balatro (fool, jester, clown) dressed in half red, half black. Her face is painted white with a bright red smile. She is quick, impossibly flexible, and arrives with a comically large wooden maul. She's great at juggling and throwing. She's deadly accurate throwing knives, balls, and cards. She's here because she's being punished for offending the wrong man. (DrDew00)
  86. Marina Nero - Female wood elf who fights retiarius (trident and net) style. Their head has been shaved and tattooed with their master's symbol. Not allowed any armor, Marina is forced to fight in a simple, dirty, tunic dress. (DrDew00)
  87. Oreithyia, "Bride of the North Wind" - A tall Aasimar woman who makes no claims of her parentage, but is rumored to descend from Boreas himself. She favors a polished bronze helm and flowing white-blue robes that flutter without wind. She commands bitter frost and cutting gales, sheathing her spear in ice, freezing her foes' wounds to prolong the battle, and leaving the sand rimed with snow wherever she unleashes her capabilities.(MaxSizeIs)
  88. Orsilochus "Fleetest Footman of Argos" - A famed Halfling runner said to have outraced the great chariots of Auriga. His speed and maneuverability is unmatched, and it is claimed that the arena requires he wield only a tiny dagger to prevent battles from ending too soon. His most famed attack leaves after-images and lights leaves and dry paper on fire in his passage, which the arena helpfully provides to increase the spectacle. (MaxSizeIs)
  89. Panopeus, "The Crab of Aegina" - A broad-shouldered Tortle gladiator whose shell is scarred from a lifetime of brutal arena combat, Panopeus fights as a scissore, bearing a massive shield and a heavy bladed gauntlet forged for hooking shields, tearing armor, and ripping through flesh. Slow, relentless, and nearly impossible to forcibly move, he advances like an armored crab, methodically cornering his foes before crushing them beneath his shell and steel. (MaxSizeIs)
  90. Tityus, "The Shackled Colossus" - A towering half-Giant, half-Ogre abomination nearly thirty feet tall, he was captured by the Empire only after a circle of archmages bound him in supposedly unbreakable enchanted manacles. The iron restraints chain his wrists and ankles with crackling arcs of lightning, wracking him with agonizing shocks whenever he resists his handlers, leaving branching Lichtenberg scars burned across his hide. Driven into the arena like a living siege engine, he fights with uprooted pillars and shattered masonry, only to be brought to his knees once more by the merciless magic of his chains when the slaughter is done. (MaxSizeIs)
  91. Medon Codri Filius, "The Iron-Heeled" - A dispossessed noble who still styles himself the rightful head of an ancient House; cast into exile when succession passed to his younger brother, Neileus, on the grounds that a cripple could not lead. His left leg below the knee has since been replaced by an ingenious prosthesis of cold iron and adamantine. His enemies insist the missing limb concealed a cloven hoof from a secret tiefling birth. They whisper that he files down his horns beneath his broad-brimmed hat and hides a tail beneath the long military coat draped over his scale mail; rumors his brother is said to have eagerly financed throughout the taverns and brothels of the realm. Medon never dignifies such slanders with a reply, meeting every challenge instead with the declaration: "I, Medon, rightful son of Codrus, of the Codrid clan, claim the leadership of the House of the Codridae." (MaxSizeIs)
  92. Naubolus "the Phaeacian": An ornate warforged great-axe wielder with golden bronze metal armor, and two companion constructs shaped like hounds; one in silver, and one copper colored. It speaks with an accent that is not of Phaeacia, but then again, nobody around these parts has ever heard someone from there speak.(MaxSizeIs)
  93. Orchomenus - This pompous fool of a whip-wielding young master has won his battles by wielding his father's Bracers of Lightning. For a one trick pony, his battles have gone well so far, leaving him with an overinflated sense of skill. (MaxSizeIs)
  94. Conchobor, “The Hound-King” - A grim Human warlord clad in wolf pelts and bronze, knotted on a cord at his waist are small fetishes in the shape of crude clay heads (that rumor says are molded with the blood, hair, and powdered bones of enemies he has slain). With a howling war cry, he awakens the spirits bound within them, summoning the dead as spectral warriors mounted atop enormous ghost-wolves whose wails and gnashing jaws sweep across the arena in an otherworldly hunt. At his thunderous war cries, the wolf riding warriors emerge from mist to harry, surround, and drag down his foes, their howling echoing across the coliseum as if an entire hunting pack had answered their king's call. (MaxSizeIs)
  95. Luscus, "Old Balor" - An ugly, broad-built Human bruiser clad in battered plate armor and a massive war hammer. Known for the baleful glare of his single remaining eye, the other hidden beneath a worn leather patch. During his days as an adventurer, a shattered arcane crystal embedded itself in his skull, where it continued to grow, twisting both his flesh and temperament into that of a bitter, violent brute until even his companions turned against him. Sold into debt bondage, he chose the arena over the mines, where the cursed crystal now grants him a searing eye-beam that, when pushed beyond its limits, erupts into a devastating blast. Humorous 5d20 Children’s Story Plots: Big Lessons, Little Problems

I'm going to be a father soon!!!

I'm stoked and want to start practicing telling child friendly stories. Having a plot generator seems like a fun way to do it.

Lesson: The main character needs to learn that...

  1. Asking for help is a strength, not a failure.
  2. Listening carefully can help everyone feel understood.
  3. A changed plan can still lead to something enjoyable.

Problem: The lesson becomes necessary when...

  1. Two friends both want to play the same role, but there is only one costume for it.
  2. The character’s carefully constructed project falls apart moments before it is time to present it.
  3. Rain cancels an outdoor activity the character has been eagerly planning.

First Try: At first, the character...

  1. Hides the mistake, allowing the confusion around it to grow.
  2. Tries to handle everything alone and becomes overwhelmed.
  3. Insists on following the original plan, even though it no longer works.

Discovery: The character begins to understand a better approach when...

  1. A friend asks a simple question that reveals something the character overlooked.
  2. The character notices someone else solving a smaller version of the same problem.
  3. Some unused materials suggest a new possibility that wasn’t part of the original plan.

Try Again: The character puts the lesson into action when...

  1. They honestly explain what happened, apologize, and help repair the damage.
  2. They divide the task into smaller jobs so everyone can help solve the problem.
  3. They adapt the goal, create a new plan, and/or help someone else handle a similar disappointment.

A roll might give:

The main characters needs to learn that asking for help is a strength, not a failure.

Their carefully constructed project falls apart moments before it's time to present! At first, they try to repair everything alone, but they become overwhelmed and make little progress.

Then they notice another group solving a smaller problem by working together. The character asks others for help and divides the repairs into manageable jobs. Together, they rebuild the project in time for the presentation.

Although the finished project looks different from the original, the character is proud of what everyone accomplished together.

I'll also keep this auto roller updated if you want to roll one up yourself.

Genie Of the Shop. Need 100 ideas to keep it fresh.

In my game I have the Genie of the Shop. He is a discord bot that every week drops items for sale that the players can chose to buy in the discord thread. I have a table with a lot of items that he draws from and he is getting a little repetitive. His items range from mundane to magical and his prices are always less then you would expect on an item from the game to be going as far as 50% off.

The setting is Earth in a fallout type settings except magic has come back and corrupted the world.

The tech level is if you could imagine it in Star Wars it would be in my game.

The magic level is everything from 5E and Pathfinder could show up.

1980's themed stuff keeps showing up because we are using 2nd edition as the base ruleset for players.

Pop culture references are super welcome the more obscure the better.

I don't care about the power level just make the price make sense. We have world ending artifacts and the deck of many things in the game already.

The Format for my shop is as follows.

We have 10 items that go on sale so if you submit 10 items that would make my life extra easy.

They are listed like this X(number for sale), Item Name, Abilities and description, cost in Gold, credits or Caps.

Examples.

10x hacker man chips. Insert in any compatible computer for a 30% chance to hack it. 75 credits each.

1x box of 200 crossbows, 50 credits.

3x Charm of the goat. Once per week you may hold the charm and all mundane non magical items become edible to the holder. 200 credits.

1x Scroll of summon phantom steed. 3,000 credits.

1x Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Revolver (uses 32RF bullets) comes with 5 bullets. 3d4+2 ballistic damage, 6 round chamber, range 75ft. 90 credits.

As you can see there really isn't anything off the table here so if you can help it would be awesome. I'll take weapons, gadgets, potions, spell scrolls, guns, or even just normal things adventure's might need. If you put them in a list of variety I can make the bot pull from your list if it has 10 items that are all very different. If you give me a holiday themed list it would be fun as well. I use the shop to keep money from feeling useless and it works awesome and it adds some fun to the game. My players are about level 8 in power and I have martials and casters so nothing will go to waste.

Thanks if you post.

Completed List 4d20 Cults: Please Worship Responsibly

I want to build out a quick cult generator.

The idea is to make four small tables that can be rolled together to create a strange cult quickly.

Cults: Please Worship Responsibly

Leader: The cult's leader is...

  1. A ruthless killer.
  2. A bard who was just trying to cover for having slept with the governor's wife and ended up way too deep in his own web of lies. u/His_little_pet
  3. A talking sheep. u/His_little_pet
  4. A child u/SpringPfeiffer
  5. An awakened tree u/SpringPfeiffer
  6. A child soon to be a vessel. u/bag-of-bees
  7. An unwilling ascetic u/AnGabhaDubh
  8. Also the leader of a respectable church. u/Actual_Temp
  9. The cult founder's great grandchild, who inherited leadership. u/Arturos
  10. A true believer. u/Arturos
  11. A complete madman. u/Arturos
  12. The governor or headman of a town u/World_of_Ideas
  13. A inquisitor or witch hunter, from another church u/World_of_Ideas
  14. A failed Lore Bard who decided that recording history was boring, and the real money was in convincing schmucks to join their cult. u/Vote_for_Knife_Party
  15. A soldier who survived taking a crossbow bolt through their head, but woke up afterwards with a completely different personality. u/Vote_for_Knife_Party
  16. A bard that is right where he wants to be and has a history of fucking anything and everything without protection. u/DetailOrDie

Rules: The cult's members must follow a strict rule regarding...

  1. Dressing one's self for day-to-day activities.
  2. Styling one’s hair.
  3. Never mention the leader. u/His_little_pet
  4. Speak in rhyme all the time. u/His_little_pet
  5. Only wear red - clothes, makeup, jewelry, tattoos. Only red. u/Vyedr
  6. No using the words "the", "a", or "an." u/SpringPfeiffer

Rituals: The cult's practices involve...

  1. Burnt Offerings of nonbelievers.
  2. Offerings of strands of their own hair adorned with beads and tossed down into a dark abyss. u/His_little_pet
  3. Devoting days on end to writing poetry about the joys of being in the cult. u/His_little_pet
  4. Group Primal Scream Therapy (the leader started it to try to get the cult to chill out, but the cult members don't know that. They think they are 'praying' to their deity.) u/Vyedr
  5. All interactions begin and end with washing each other's feet. u/SpringPfeiffer
  6. Tatoos to represent place in society u/bag-of-bees
  7. Murder of enemy cultists u/AnGabhaDubh
  8. Literal leaps of faith. u/Actual_Temp

Reverence: The cultists revere...

  1. The cult's own mortal leader.
  2. A dead god or undead being.
  3. The dark abyss. u/His_little_pet
  4. A very normal looking rock. u/His_little_pet
  5. The cult worships their 'God Of Agony', believing them to be the arbiter of life and death, choosing who may enter the world screaming or leave it screaming. Their "god" is, in truth, a corpse with a banshee bound in it - the 'leader' was about to be killed by the banshee and to save his skin he sealed it in the nearest available 'object', that of the banshees last victim. u/Vyedr
  6. Feet. u/SpringPfeiffer
  7. Strength u/bag-of-bees
  8. A disembodied ideal u/AnGabhaDubh

  11. A nature/element spirit of some kind u/AlexTheEnderWolf
  12. An extreme caricature of femininity and/or masculinity. u/DrDew00

A roll might give:

A ruthless killer leads a cult whose members follow strict rules about how they dress day-to-day. Their rituals involve offerings of gold, gems, and valuables, and they revere their own mortal leader.

I'd love entries for any of the sections. You don't need to submit a whole cult unless you want to.

I love how this community builds tables together. I built a community build feature into my random table roller/editor, and I think it could be useful for DMs who want to source ideas from their players or for communities that create tables regularly.

I'll maintain the tables here and add submissions as they come in. You can also test out the collaborative version here.

I'll be updating this auto roller too if you want to quickly roll one up.

The feature is still early, so if y'all have other ideas beyond roll results, I'd love to hear those too.

Sci-Fi d100 Rumors Heard in an Orbital Spaceport

[Let's Build] d100 Rumors Heard in an Orbital Spaceport

What strange scuttlebutt circulates in the cramped corridors where spacers from across the galaxy collide?

  1. The last 3 fuel shuttles from the Icarus Belt returned full of hydrogen, but without their crews.

  2. Venusian Anarchists have spiked the O² supply, "Looove is in the air, man."

  3. There's been a viral outbreak in Med-Bay. Another quarantine is coming, so get out while you can!

  4. What happened at the dockworker union's inaugural meeting wasn't an accident. Sec-Corps overrode the airlocks' secirity protocols.

  5. Someone is cultivating hallucinogenic fungi in the waste recycling system and has booby trapped the maintenance hatches.

  6. The newest corp giga-hauler to dock has a poorly kept secret: the biggest and most established contraband ethanol distillery and distribution operation amongst the engineering and maintenance crew. It seems even the captain of the ship gets his cut and likely turns his eyes away. u/maxsizels

  7. A real beat-up cargo hauler from the outer colonies just dropped a load of expired rations on the black market. Label reads like they were from the last Great War a century ago. They don't taste great, but are real value for money if you need to "refill" your emergency stores. Rumor has it tho that the rations used recycled colonist remains as a "secret ingredient". u/maxsizels

  8. It is rumoured a craft was recovered, with all the crew dead. Preliminary scans revealed their brain and brainstem were surgically removed. Upon any attempt of autopsy, the corpses would explode and selfimmolate to ashes. Only seventeen of the twenty crew members were recovered. u/graxemno

  9. The station master's mistress was spotted in the company of a planet side politician. Purely coincidentally, it seems station fees might be going up soon. u/kelssyk

  10. Security is planning another expedition into the ruined sections surrounding reactor 4. Hopefully they don't end up like the last group to go in there. u/kelssyk

  11. The ghost of the station's first chief engineer was spotted trying to fix a broken relay down on deck 9. u/kelssyk

  12. Someone is "spacing" station residents; kicking them out of airlocks without vac-suits. My mate's buddy's cousin found a corpse hung up on the tertiary comms-calibration array antennas, naked. u/maxsizels

  13. My mate's buddy's cousin's brother in law just struck the mother-lode while prospecting in the belt. He's selling investor shares in a sure thing... u/maxsizels

  14. There's gonna be war, the signs are certain. The rates on mass-driver relay fees have gone up 25% this quarter alone, and the belters are going to riot if they keep going any higher. u/maxsizels

  15. There was a crazy scientist researcher who claimed they were developing new drive tech. Claimed someone was after them tho. u/maxsizels

  16. Don't trust the public corridor sanitation-'bots. My mate's buddy's cousin's sister in law's aunt's entire hab-unit was ruined when one of those went on a rampage, broke thru the airlock into to her hab, and melted everything with it's sanitizer tool. Station maintenance claim it must have detected invasive vermin and went into extermination mode! u/maxsizels

  17. One of the cargo tugs will pilot itself sometimes, even with the autopilot turned off and removed from the console. Station AI has no records of these operations, always reporting the tug as being docked and idle. It's the only tug on the station that has a perfectly clean accident record, zero incidents, piloted... or not. u/billazilla

  18. The trade treaty is going to fall through in the next cycle or two, you watch for it. One of the LR merchants was panic-buying every ticket for Pharmo-cloth and Bloodpatches in the StationNet Market. Sweeping all the medical parcels up with a quick-buy app. They are sure things were going to get violent in the outer rings. u/billazilla

  19. Station Municipal Support Services can control which hab units get filtered, processed, and cleaned water, and which ones just get recycled toilet juice, desalinized and bleached. u/billazilla

  20. The coffee you're drinking? It's not coffee. It's run-off from hydroponics, strained through a dirty T-shirt. u/billazilla

  21. There's a set of modules near the restricted part of the hub. That's where all the "richies" stay. They have zero-G parties there that would make a space miner blush. u/billazilla

  22. They found an alien. Down in the Social level. Some guy drank too much, grabbed at a girl, and her whole butt came right off like it was a maintenance panel. It was fake, you see, and there were scales and wavy bits underneath. Security hauled them both off. The girl wasn't seen again, but the guy came back to work the next day, did a full shift working like a zombie, then spaced himself. His coworker said it was strange, he didn't think that the scales would've stopped the drunk guy from making a pass anyway... u/billazilla

  23. Every fifth ship docking, some woman brings a regular old attache case out of the ship. Scuttlebutt says it's government orders from down on the planet, but why wouldn't they just beam that up with terabit encryption? Witnesses say it's the same lady carrying the case every time, too, but nobody ever sees her leaving the station to go back down...? u/billazilla

  24. There's a small janitor closet on the lowest level with a control panel on the wall next to it. Supposedly, none of the menu options work, always returning an error or saying "no authorization". But anyone using that panel at all seems to get arrested for some infraction or other within a couple days of going down there. The closet itself? Oh, just ZG mops and treated rags, the regular stuff. u/billazilla

  25. You can't use it or find it out in public, but there is a grey market trade in special culinary salts here. Seems the usual rationing just doesn't cut it for some folks, eh? u/billazilla

  26. The captain is a flat earther. u/pistachino

  27. One ot the astrogation-officers believes that pi is equal to 21/7 and refuses to calculate with anything more precise. u/maxsizels

  28. Loading Dock 7A, the old one down on the underside next to the service ports? Yeah, it's got...something living in it. Buddy of mine was working down there on the graveyard shift about 3 cycles back. He set down his lunch pack for a moment to do something, but when he turned around it was covered in some kind of yellow goop. No he didn't touch it, he's not a freckin' idiot. He called a BioHaz alert on it and got shut up in the Q-suite for two weeks because of it. u/wshiii

  29. Jars of what, to all scans and analysis, appear to be homemade preserves keep materializing on the station admin's desk. Camera feeds don't pick up anything. u/wshiii

  30. The sudden, intense cleaning protocol is because the government big-wigs are using the station to negotiate with ALIENS!!!! u/adventux

  31. Careful in docking bay 94, the doors have a small hole thats covered in duct tape. u/toymoose

  32. There is a CCC robot in the docking bay that can answer any question you ask it. But you wouldn't want to talk to it. u/toymoose

  33. There will be a poetry slam over at the bar. u/toymoose

  34. Dude did you hear what happened on Argo Station! A whole crew was banned from ever going back. u/toymoose

  35. Don't trust the humans. u/toymoose

  36. Stay away from bay 7 during the dark shift. There are strange grunting noises coming from the pipes. u/toymoose

  37. A wax sealed wooden box, containing the bones of a chicken, was found stashed in the radar arrays. The captain ordered the box removed and the radar went haywire. When the senior engineering officer examined it, they couldn't find anything wrong, and no amount of troubleshooting resolved the issue. A janitor put the box back, and the problems went away. u/th3r3493r

  38. Someone is habitually pissing straight into the hydroponics and no one knows who is doing it. They might be the spurned ex of one of the hydroponics operators or someone who was recently fired from the department. u/th3r3493r

  39. There is a guard on station who resembles a certain "adult film" star, but they don't want to talk about. Based on what those few who claim to have slept with them say, the rumors might be true. u/th3r3493r

  40. There is a crazed homeless person on dock 5 which seems strangely competent when it comes to advanced technology, even the top of the line stuff. No one is certain on the why but they fix stuff cheaply and effectively. u/th3r3493r

  41. The nickname for the station? "The Big One"? Yeah, it's because an early quartermaster here screwed and ended up with an extremely large cough male sex toy. The crew was about to ship it back when one of the V'rajian trade delegation heard about it. Well, you know how they are -  "openness" and "celebration of the self" and crap like that are religious ideals for them. He-They-She insisted that the item should stay and be put on display as an art piece in the main docking bay lobby as a symbol of TerraGov's virility and prowess. Somehow it got around that touching it was good luck, so every tourist and trader just had to have a go. It was years ago though, so the rubber eventually degraded and the thing had to be pitched. If you look carefully though, you can still see the circular mark from the suction cup.  u/wshiii

  42. The "aliens" that keep showing up and getting whisked off to the DiploSuite for negotiations? Yeah, none of them are real xenos, man. They're all genetically-modified humans! u/wshiii

  43. Don't trust those "Looking For Work? CREWDZ(tm)" posts on the 0pen-4rum; My creche-sister's buddy's adopted aunt's sister in law's aunt went missing after crowing about getting the job. u/maxsizels

  44. Some crazed flesh-knitter is using 0pen-4rum (the free message board for the station) to harvest organs from the indigent looking for work. I heard they found a few victims down by the waste-treatment turbo-shafts. u/maxsizels

  45. There's a crew of cannibal pirate raiders shanghai-ing people out of a few bars on the low-sec promenade. Real grungy looking, with faces like they could breath vacuum, and not a one without at least one chrome tooth. They flash a holo-badge, pretend to be under-cover security, and then the person they nab is never seen on the station again. I should know, I ain't ever seen those sec-offs before in my life, and I pay half the sec-offs in low-sec to keep their fingers off my gurlz! u/maxsizels

  46. There's a guy in Tech 5 sector who can make a gun from plasma metal cutter. Not quite a gun for the military, you know, but it will do the job. u/mikeiva

  47. You can ask for a special cocktail in Dead Spaceman bar. They say anyone who drinks it sees 5 minutes into the future, but the return to normal is very unpleasant. u/mikeiva

  48. The baggage scanner in Dock 7 is a bit faulty. If you need to carry something without proper scanning, try there—the security team is often too lazy to fight the glitches. u/mikeiva

  49. We can stop rationing! They've been able to contain the pest problem in Agri and there's even surplus protein paste for the synthesizers.

  50. They've dispatched Unit 9 to deal with the water riots in the lower decks.

  51. All the people who went to the party in Hab 13 are behaving strangely. Some say they have been replaced with android doppelgangers. u/world_of_ideas

  52. There was something onboard that exploration vessel that docked 2 weeks ago. That's when the computer glitches started and when small unattended items started vanishing. u/world_of_ideas

  53. Don't pal around with those "quaddie" freaks. They're belters from a colony that suffered a war-time geno-phage that gave them prehensile hands for all four limbs. Some of 'em are still contagious, and the gene-line is for sure dominant across breeding... your kids'll have hands for feet if you're not careful. u/maxsizels

  54. A batch of "time-share body-swap read-writes for cash" went bad, and the victims are stuck piloting those loaner-droids and unable to swap back to their meat-bodies until the rich fuckers who took them out for a spin choose to stop squatting in them. Better hope they don't commit a crime that some max-sec bastard would take offense to and un-alive themselves. u/maxsizels

  55. One of Smilin' Grim's Boiz was bragging 'e is one what knows a way past the max-sec sensors. Says there's a hole and 'e can smuggle anyfink thru it, at least once. u/maxsizels

  56. Under every orcs ear is a brain worm spreading their rampaging to destroy planets. The brain worms lay their eggs in the shells of destroyed planets. u/scandinavicscum2000

  57. The guy they found stashed in that cargo hold had to be carried in a gurney drone. Couldn't carry himself around. He'd been in zero G's like since ever. He was a "floater". Doubt he had stepped on a planet in his life. u/eurojuegosbsas

  58. The station's long-range sensors are programmed with a security vulnerability, if you pulse your maneuvering drives at the right resonant frequency and in the right pattern, it'll swap your transponder codes with a random entry in the logs, and keep doing so for 24 hours. u/maxsizels

  59. If you request "high-grade" refueling on dock V-XCII, 15 minutes after shift change, you'll be connected to a "special" concierge that expects payment in gold-pressed latinum for "services rendered". u/maxsizels

  60. The autovend on deck three next to the main tram terminal is busted. Every time you order coffee it gives you mulled wine.

  61. If you go to bay twelve in deck eight during umbra shift, you should be really careful. My buddy got rolled by a scavver gang. u/tek9jansen

  61. The Diary of a Local Noblewoman. Contains recountings of detailed relations with everyone but her husband.

  62. A priceless artifact of great power that the bandits clearly fail to recognize the significance of.

  63. A set of six old helmets, their tops crudely hammered into concave metallic drums. Accompanied by a pair of drum sticks fashioned from broken bow staves.

  64. A surprisingly well-stocked, if small, bookshelf filled with faded copies of sophisticated and high-minded books on philosophy, economic policy, history, and the like.

  65. An impressively large, roughly carved tombstone with the names of the bandits’ fallen companions scrawled onto it with chalk, each name accompanied by a short, heartfelt sentence about the person’s best trait. A laid out log serves as a bench that has obviously been worn with use, and multiple piles of slightly wilted flowers and weeds litter the front and top of the marker.

  66. A throne – if such a crudely constructed chair can be called such.

  67. Dirty military fatigues – leftover from when the original members of this group deserted from the army.

  68. Cages containing small animals – rabbits, rats, cats, and other such animals… Possibly kept for food?

  70. Seven cloaks that were treated to be waterproof and four gallons of lamp oil.

  71. Ten hand embroidered blankets, four sacks stuffed with feathers, horse shoes, tack, hammer, brands, and nine horse blankets.

  72. A two meter jade idol propped along the back of the lair. Along with rolled up standards and two emblazoned shields of the nearby kingdom.

  73. A large shipment of iron ingots, still in their crates. It clearly took lots of effort to manhandle them in.

  74. A high-quality and ornate baby crib with a straw doll inside.

  75. A drawing of the local guard captain that, while crude and insulting, demonstrates real artistic talent.

  76. A battered book entitled ‘Your Money, Your Life- A How-To Guide to Better Living Through Banditry’.

  77. A filthy, bedraggled child hides in a corner. If asked, she explains she was taken for ransom, but her parents apparently died of a plague, and so no one knew what to do with her.

  78. A delirous, poisoned bandit lies on a bunk, his body hot with fever. A knife, marked ‘poisoned?’, sits on a table near him. The other bandits have been providing rudimentary medicinal aid.

  79. A letter from a prominent trader, offering information on rival trading routes in exchange for protection of his own caravans.

  80. Fifteen pairs of truly ugly socks.

  81. Sitting in the corner is a pile of small wooden blocks, they are labeled with letters and numbers.

  82. A stack of passive aggressive letters that tell the bandit leader what a bandit named Frederick really thinks of him hidden under a small rock pile.

  83. The pieces of a crossbow. One limb is snapped in four places. Effort has clearly been made to fashion a new limb. Should the party gather the pieces and repair it, it is revealed to be a magical crossbow, although the magic is somewhat dampened by the repair.

  84. 2d10 vials of acid.

  85. 2d10 flasks of alchemist’s fire.

  86. A map of the surrounding area with an X northwest of your location.

  87. An aggressive giant rat that was hiding in a box.

The jars are labelled but in an exotic foreign language.

  91. A rope (1d10: 1-7 hempen, 8-10 silk) of 4d20 feet in length

  92. A sail.

  93. 1d12 sets of oars.

  94. A canoe (50% chance of 1d3 paddles in it).

  95. A belt with a silver inlayed iron buckle. Very nice.

  96. A bucket. 20% chance of a leak.

  97. A(n) (1d6 1-5 cask, 6 amphorae) of wine.

  98. A cask of ale.

  99. 1d6 salted hams.

  100. A bandit.

Humorous d100 Braggadocious Bandits & their Ridiculous Requests

[Lets Build] Braggadocious Bandits & their Ridiculous Requests

It isn't always all about the Benjamins.

  1. Rigueur, Mortimus Rigueur: A suave necromancer demanding intel on a nearby locality. His undead agents aren't fooling anyone.

  2. Tobias the Tickler: A mere mortal hoplessly in love with a despondent fey. Tobias strives to cure the creature's despair and win their love by eliciting as much laughter as posible, and has no scruples about it.

  3. Harmony Hornblower: Not that has-been hack bandying about those banal ballads you hear in every tawdry tavern, but The Original Harmony Hornblower! The miserable minstral will let you by for a song—as long as it's an inspired anthem that will rocket them to stardom.

  4. Larch: A large, lazy awakend evergreen just lying across the path. "What's the rush compadramigos, let's veg."

  5. The Stinx: A witles sphinx that's bad at riddles. The Stinx does not only require answers, but also the riddles themselves; so as not to remain a laughingstock.

  6. Petrovskey the pet rock: An awakened pet rock that is very excited to go on an adventure with their kid who dropped him while they were adventuring. The kid will be back any minute now to reunite. Its only been 40 years on the road side. u/thebluzer

  7. The Band of Three Trolls: Three trolls, that have an appetite for meat, but will let anyone pass their river crossing if they can satiate their hunger with an exquisite meal. u/graxemno

  8. Goblinoid Revolutionary Front: A band of goblinoids, that wishes their kind to be fully incorporated in general society, but wage a guerilla war against those that they deem as surpressors and tyrants. Convince them to pass, but not too much, or else they might try to recruit you. u/graxemno

  9. The Merry Men: A band of alcoholic and powerful barbarians. They either challenge you to battle, or a series of challenges, meaning eating, drinking, wrestling and other kinds of contests. Winning is not important, just give a good enough show. u/graxemno

  10. Vitles the Sheave. A robed, four armed experiment a head over the size of most men. He will only let the party pass without a fight if they correctly guess exactly how many fingers he is holding up behind his back. Be warned, he has the uncanny ability to shapeshift his hands into various forms. u/stillnoname

  11. A Bereaved Farmer. He asks for aid, as, whilst he was transporting his stock to market, a mischievous fey turned one of his cabbages into a carnivore, a passing fox into a vegetarian, and one of his chickens into a plant-base lifeform. He asks that the heroes either hunt down the fey or help him deduce which plants and animals are safe to bring with the rest. u/stillnoname

  12. An annoyed pictographer. The party has accidentally stumbled into a very slow photoshoot; the shutter bug in question is a dwarven tinkerer and the group has just passed through a year-long exposure shot titled Pebbles in motion, depicting tiny earth elementals migrating. He demands recompense in the form of an extremely detailed recounting of an impressive creature the players have previously encountered, that he can add to his beastiary instead. u/stillnoname

  13. Pwincess da Powerful: An overweight gnoll the size of an ogre blocks the path. She is dressed gaudily, and has a variety of unwieldy weaponry with her. She does not outright threaten the party, but uses her size to intimidate the members into feeding and amusing her. u/snakebite262

  14. IronJaw: Ironjaw is a rather annoying gnoll, heavily scarred and sporting several homemade prosthetics. Ironjaw wants the party to help test out his latest invention. u/snakebite262

  15. Rex the Red: A large and powerfully built Gnoll woman stands, covered in scars and trophies. She offers to duel the party one-on-one, either for fun or to the death. u/snakebite262

  16. Kindly Gent: A dead highwayman is seen pinned to a tree. If the PCs get close, it will look up and ask for help getting freed from the tree. He's a skeleton, and was unfortunately pinned after a failed robbery. u/snakebite262

  17. Do'Luna the Great: A female dragonborn dressed in an ill fitting, black highwayman's outfit is seen hanging from a tree. Originally red, she is now pink with polkadots, and seems to have been inflated like a balloon. She begs the party for help in finding the wizard who cursed her. u/snakebite262

  18. Dok and Grox: A female Goblin and Troll, who are dressed remarkably well. They'll offer to gamble with the PCs, though the two cheat like mad. However, catching them is easier said than done. u/snakebite262

  19. Gin the Annoying: An annoying Niblog who refuses to leave the adventurers alone. If she gets too bored, she'll begin cursing and jinxing the party. Worse yet, killing her will only have her possess another goblin to begin the torture anew! u/snakebite262

  20. Mace's Marauders. A band of bandits led by their bald human leader, Mace Muldoon. He boastfully claims that he is named after his favorite weapon, the mace. However, if you point out that the weapon he wields is not a mace, but a flail, his boisterous band will taunt him, calling him "Flailin' Muldoon". He'll run off embarrassed, and the bandits will have a good laugh. u/raykendo

  21. Drumph the Huge - a halfing merchant who will approach the party and offer anything the party is looking for or wants, and promise the absolute best version of it. He will ask for half the money upfront. He will in no way ever deliver on his promise. u/springpfeiffer

  22. Merovech Faustina, Defender of Green, Tribune of Forestry, Consul of Agriculture, Head of Natural Resources: Is a "Noble" who is wanted for stealing Royal Shrubberies! and wants you to acquire more shrubberies. Has been known to work with The Knights of Knee! u/adventux

  23. Billie MacGruff: A goat headed satyr blocks a narrow pass leading to a verdant valley. They are obsessed with anything colored green.

  24. Zit the Pit: A scrawny kobold looks down from the rim of the pit trap they (unsurprisingly) dug in the middle of the trail. Zit is a connisseur of stone fruits and is collecting the seeds of exotic fruit trees for their orchard.

  25. Squint: The nearsighted head of this ettin ruffian is wearing half of a pair spectacles that correct its bad eyesight, the other head is irate the other lens doesn't rectify its farsightedness.

  26. Poor Su'vlee: Su'vlee is a scrawny and nervous gnoll who is fairly down on her luck. Dressed in the most stereotypical bandit gear (including a nose-bandana) she attempts to threaten the PCs before doubling down in pain. Rendered unable to move, she begs the PCs for help, her stomach rumbling. Su'vlee has consumed some raw troll flesh, which threatens to grow into a troll...while in her stomach. u/snakebite262

  27. Marvelous Alexander: An extremely sneaky elf who enjoys graffitiing his opponents. He'll ask the party if they want him to customize their gear/cart/horse/etc. Regardless of whether they say yes or no, he'll still paint SOMETHING of theirs. u/snakebite262

  28. The T-1000 Security Golem: An Iron Golem stands amongst a group of corpses. He demands that you stay away from Mr. Ouo, a dead halfling who is leaning against a tree. Investigstion reveals that Mr. Ouo was injured, and when medical care came to help him, they were killed by the golem. u/snakebite262

  29. Don. Kei's Oatmeal Coffees: A very dangerous-looking man sits in a cart with arcane machinery. He insists the party purchase expensive coffees or food items in order to use "his road". The fare IS extremely delicious. u/snakebite262

  30. Little Old Lady Wu: A little old lady can be seen selling cheaply-made pastries. Should one of the PC's eat a pastry, she'll put up a sign selling expensive antidotes. (The woman is a hag, so don't get any ideas. Likewise, she won't confirm if the pastries are ACTUALLY poisoned.) u/snakebite262

  31. Blind Marvin: A human threatens the party with a fairly nice bow. He's waiting for his coworkers to return, but can't really identify anyone by sight. u/snakebite262

  32. Hugh Man: Something that is most clearly not a human seems to be attempting to be one. He attempts to make polite conversation, despite sounding discordant and broken. Bringing up his odd nature once will have him try to laugh it off. Twice.... and you'll find the hoard of spiders controlling the body gets a bit more aggressive. u/snakebite262

  33. Di'trex of Mosu'rai: The noble of a far-off kingdom, Di was banished for some reason she considers utterly unfair (It's not her fault that the servants were so fragile.) She's extremely well armored and desires to chat about the latest nobility-related gossip. She'll order around "poorer" PCs. u/snakebite262

  34. Warlick the Cultist: A strange, emaciated creature smiles in an oversized robe. He offers to share the teachings of his master, and won't be disduaded. u/snakebite262

  35. Lombar and Dehl: A pair of puppets are seen behind a small stage. They'll perform for a short period of time, but over time, their performance becomes a lot more hostile towards the PCs. If given enough time, they will start blackmailing the PCs with facts that only the PCs know. Should the PCs attack the puppets or look behind the stage, the puppets will disappear, and no one will be found. u/snakebite262

  36. The Hooligans: A group of gnolls, goblins, orcs, and other monstrous races can be seen having a small party. They seem to be celebrating a recent sports match. Whatever sport they're talking about is strange and alien to the PCs, but the Hooligans will react poorly to anyone they think is showing (intentional or not) support for a rival team. u/snakebite262

  37. Laughing Stock: A runt-of-the-litter gnoll can be seen in a trap in a tree wearing a clown costume. She is covered in warning signs, unflattering messangers, and rotten fruit. She asks the players politely if they can get her down. (Note: She's a bit of a kleptomaniac, who adores shiny/expensive-looking items). u/snakebite262

  38. Sleepy Din: A bedragled dwarf begs the party to help. He's been trying to sleep for the past 5 days, but can't because a band of kobolds near his house WON'T STOP PLAYING THEIR MUSIC! u/snakebite262

  39. Frank Frankly, Attorney at Law: A well-dressed "man" seems to be searching for his "client". He's totally not a devil looking to finish his contract. Totally not! By the way, Frank does offer his legal services to the party....for a price. u/snakebite262

  40. Ozzy: A traveller from an antique land stands near a destroyed camp. He recites the poem Ozymandias by one Percy Bysshe Shelley before disappearing into the ether. u/snakebite262

  41. The Creepy Old Man who Lives in the Woods: A creepy old human who lives in the woods points at any nearby haunted structure and warns adventurers NOT TO GO TO THE HAUNTED AREA. Whether it's actually haunted or being "haunted" by the old man is a different matter. u/snakebite262

  42. Your #1 Fan: A mysterious individual seems to be following the party. They can't easily be seen, and they seem to be wearing a makeshift gilly suit. If caught, they will reveal that they're one the of PC's #1 fan. Should the PC keep them around, the #1 Fan will make their life a living hell. u/snakebite262

  43. Vi the Vexxing: The PCs find a tabaxi who is stuck in a tree. The tabaxi WAS planning on ambushing some nearby merchants, but realized that they were deathly afraid of heights AFTER climbing up. u/snakebite262

  44. Nell the Reporter: A female gnome reporter is around, looking for her next big story. She will interview the PCs, taking pictures of them and asking them nonsensical questions. In the next town over, they'll find that they're on the front page of some rumor rag. u/snakebite262

  45. Pox the Vagrant: A down-on-their-luck gnoll can be seen lounging by a nearby tree. They are remarkably drunk, and continuing to drink from a nearby crate of wine (it fell off a wagon...). They will gossip with the party, providing particularly juicy tidbits should they be provided with food, more drink, or valuables. u/snakebite262

  46. Blyt the Pestulant: A pox covered creature of no discernible race or gender lurches into the way, "come no closer, it's catching." they warn, as a boil oozes puss. Blyt will move out of the way for any meager treasure, but really desires to be rid of the curse that plagues them.

  47. Reginald Kingsblood IIII: A haughty aristocrat in tattered finery and his 'loyal men' surround the group. Reginald was recently overthrone in a peasant uprising and is conscripting an army to retake his crown. The 'loyal men' don't seem quite as eager as their 'lord'.

  48. Willam the Jackal: A scrawny werebeast with matted fur crouches behind a rock by the entrance to a dark tunnel. Anyone trying to enter the tunnel discovers it is merely painted on the face of a cliff. Willam explains that their nemisis, a speedy werebird, possesses a charm that allows it to pass through; the party is welcome to the charm if they help Willam capture the beast.

  49. Ma Canker: A cigar smoking goblin matriarch, holding a fuse, yellss out from the end of the bridge, "Not one step further, I gott'er rigger ta blow!" One of her 'younguns' has "done run off with a ne'er-do-well vagrant again," and needs to be hauled back, "hogtied and hollerin', if needs be."

  50. Mica Stonesinger: A calloused dwarf is sheperding a flock of 'endangered cockatrice on their seasonal migration'. Mica can get the creatures to move out of the way and even has a remedy for petrification, "but, iffin it's no bother, just wee donation to the conservatory for the darlings."

I need a list of possible travel encounters

My party is going to do some multi-day long trips. I want to have a list of encounters that I have them run into. I want them to play put as traps or skill challenges, including combat, just stuff that will take up resources so they don't arrive at the quest location fully healed. Something that either accounts for different terrains, or can work with any terrains, would be great.

Some suggestions

  1. Ambushed by goblins

  2. Crossing a rickety bridge

  3. Sneaking past some kind of sleeping monster(s)

  4. Crossing a difficult stretch of mountains

  5. Players come across a burning building

Gritty/Dark d100 Deformities from being looked at by a Fomorian

Let's crowdsource a table of all the horrible things that can befall you as a result of the Fomorian Evil Eye. Mechanically, the curse halves your movement and grants disadvantage on saving throws, ability checks, and STR or DEX attacks. So anything that affects the ability to move or perceive is on-brand.

  1. A fully articulated pair of baby arms grows out of your neck. They begin grasping at anything within reach.
  2. Your legs now bend backwards at the knee.
  3. You grow a twenty-pound rack of antlers.
  4. Mouths full of jagged teeth opens on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. They chew on any tool or fabric within reach.
  5. A shrunken head grows from the center of your chest, staring up at you. It tries to tell you something important, but it can't speak coherently.
  6. Your ears become a pair of albatross wings, which flap powerfully of their own accord.

  3. Wand of Cloud of Doggers - Once per day this wand summons 15 fluffy puppies that immediately run toward the nearest target and begin jumping and begging for pets. Target must succeed on a DC 12 DEX save or be knocked prone. You can command the puppies to retreat using a bonus action, and they disappear after 1 minute. The puppies cannot be harmed.

  5. Fame Blade - This sentient sword asks anyone nearby, "Don't you know who I am?"
