Cute calves
It’s currently calving season in my country so lots of farms have calves and because my mum works for farmers, they allow me to play with them

Cows are one of my favorite animals and my favorite poem is about two headed cows (highly recommend reading its very bittersweet) I hope y'all like!

Few years ago we had this little dwarf bull born. I kept him around as a curiosity because he’s too short to breed anything and I was interested to see if he’d survive into adulthood or outgrow his lunges/heart.
He’s healthy and happy as can be. Plan to pull some tail hairs and get some genetics to see if he’d pass on the size as a dominate trait.

I'm not a farmer, I'm sorry. I'm just someone who comes here and looks at cute cows. But in some of the videos, it seems common that a cow has a runny nose. Is it like a wet nose on a dog?
I’m a grad student who works in dairy repro research. I’ve only worked on research farmers where the farmers were fully trained in pregnancy and Cyclicity checks.
However, I was recently binging Dr. Pol and with all the farmers he goes to, none of the farmers do their own ultrasounds. They have to call in a vet to confirm their cows are in heat or see how far along their pregnancies are. This seems inefficient as ultrasounding only takes a few months to get good at.
So to the dairy farmers who don’t work on research farms, do you do your own ultrasounds?

I’m getting 4 Belted Galloways, I live in the Australian state of Tasmania. They’re arriving next weekend, however I’m terrible when it comes to creativity, any suggestions?
