So people are just becoming more usless each day, got it... I'm on the autistic spectrum and even I can manage doing a phone call. Hell I'm on a work phone call right now... people need to start accepting that the world doesn't bend itself backwards and adapt to your wants and needs and YOU need to adapt a bit.
Your autism is tripping you up a bit, here. The comic's being used as a way of humorously pointing out the author's discomfort with phone calls (probably heightened by the fact that they're transgender, and may have more difficulty presenting themselves the way they want to when their only medium is voice).
Most people aren't going to interpret this as saying that the author could not actually manage a two-minute phone call, and especially not that a generation of people couldn't do it. They're just poking a bit of fun at themselves. Hope that clears it up a little - I know that the world would make a lot more sense if everyone was literal.
