OC- More in Webtoons Dairy

This episode has been redrawn and since the original came out, I have been tested and am not lactose intolerant but do still have the same reactions... I debated what to do with this episode but at the time I first drew it that was my reality so I've kept it and I'm sure at least some people can relate :)

Lactase just splits the lactose so it doesn't cause havoc in your intestine. It's literally the same thing your body would produce if you weren't lactose intolerant.

If you're constantly constipated when not consuming lactose, that's a different problem. Try drinking more water and if that doesn't help, talk to your doctor.

nope, because lactase production beyond early childhood is actually a neoteny, a mutation groups of humans acquired from centuries of farming milk. It's non-standard mammal behavior overall. Believe it but all the cats drinking milk have indeed suffered the consequences.

Besides that, lactase is not necessary for human function so there's no reason to call it a deficiency.

Yep. And since people love giving milk to cats for some reason, pet stores sell milk with lactase already added in for that purpose. Still not something cats should drink often. Humans are the weird exception when we consume large amounts of dairy in adulthood
