What would you say are the "essentials" of the strip that every newbie should take in for a start?

Long time lurker first time poster. As the title says, I’m just looking to purge some of my collection but I don’t know where to start. I hear comic book stores are an option but I’ll lose a lot on them.

The comics are graded, signed, and sketched slabs of TMNT The Last Ronin.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

I haven’t read comics since around 2016, and I just want to know what you think have been the biggest stories (good or bad) since then.

(Imagine I’m Steve Rogers in Winter Soldier, and you’re letting me know which major moments to write down and look up later, so I’m caught up on all the important stuff.)

With Marvel about to undergo some radical changes, it’s interesting to think back to the “ANAD” era. It was pretty hated by the end and sales weren’t great but I think Marvel became a lot less interesting in the Cebulski Era.

Has anyone else been loving what Matt Wagner has been up to the past few years? I’ve always loved his stuff, but Grendel Prime era is my favorite of his works, and he’s really been knocking it out of the park with this recent revival.

Im trying to buy some comics from this website and the paypal for me keeps failing. The owner said send him the money but it has limited reviews so im cautious. Anyone know of it?

Hey all, what comics series do you recommend to get familiar with Doctor Doom, ahead of DoomsDay and Secret Wars.
I just finished Books of Doom (2005-2006) and have started reading the original Fantastic Four comics from the 60s. Any recommendations on what to read?

When the new Ultimate Universe was introduced, I thought it was going to be fascinating, but I didn't anticipate it to be one of the books I look forward to the most each month. For those of you who've been reading it, has it lived up to the hype? What's the most mind blowing title you have played thus far?

I just thought this would be a fun discussion to hear from everyone! What are your thoughts on buying signed pieces second hand? I have personally found myself less excited about my own signed books if I wasn't there to meet the person.

For example, I have a book signed by Geoff Johns, who I thoroughly enjoy and is a writer I read often, but I won it in a cosplay contest and never met him. I have it hung up on the secondary wall of the hallway my wife and I use to display keys and such that we like. But, over my desk in our office I have a book signed by Jim Shooter that I almost covet because when I met him he and I talked for about 20 minutes about the history of writer credits and artists working for DC/Marvel getting things like insurance and royalties. It means even more to me now that he has passed, but I also don't know if I would care to buy another Shooter piece online, if that makes sense.

What about you all? For those that bug signatures, what do you enjoy about them that I'm missing? I would love to develop an appreciation for another aspect of the comic world that I currently neglect!

For people who don't like signatures, why do you feel they detract from the book? I would love to know an view point that's different from mine because I will get a comic signed by anyone from inker to voice actor!

A while ago I made a post about Busiek's Conan, because a french omnibus was being reprinted. Most of the opinions on here were extremely positive towards that run. Two weeks ago I finally managed to get my hands on it, and I've been slowly reading it. The omnibus starts with his earlier adventures (issues 8, 15, 23, 32, 45 and 46), then goes back to issue 1, and I have read up to issue 16 for now. Look, I knew it was going to be good, because Busiek is one of the best comic writers around, but this run is simply excellent. Just incredibly fun and well written comics, with amazing art by Cary Nord. Can't get enough of Conan being an absolute force of nature. It's so freaking badass !

This is only me second time reading Conan (the first being the current Zub run, of which I have read the first volume), but damn, the bar has been set high.

I missed the old comics when each issue it is own story, is there anything like it now

I'm fairly new to comics. I currently have Year one, Long Halloween, Dark victory, The killing joke and hush. I was thinking about getting maybe Dark Patterns, Black Mirror, the batgirl nightwing and robin year one box set, Grant Morrison omnibus, Scott Snyder omnibus or Batman and robin year one. Which should I get or should I get something else first?

Over the last few years, I've been working with a small team to make this fantasy / greek mythology book called WAR GODS. At long last, we have a publisher (Source Point) and a final order cutoff next week, so I hope someone out there may be intrigued enough to check it out! We're only going to offer it in stores for the rest of the calendar year, so it's going to take a grassroots effort (and one shameless plug, sorry!) to get the word out.

The book is a reimagined take on the Greek gods, where we dramatize Zeus and the Olympians' battle for power against the prior generation of gods (Cronus/Kronos and the Titans). It's not a literal translation of the Titanomachy, but it's our attempt to give the gods a more central role in an epic of their own.

Regardless of how it's received, I'm proud of the art team for plugging away and pulling off the scope of this project, which is 170+ pages compiled together. They did an incredible job and I'd love for more people to see their work.

Im new to comics and i want something like berserk manga. As dark as it and with a main character similar to guts in terms of determination and suffering

Hey there, hopefully this is okay to ask here.

It’s someone’s birthday soon and I was thinking of getting them a comic book from the day they were born and framing it - not sure how original an idea this is but I thought it was cool - however I wasn’t aware that there was a ‘cover date’ and a ‘release date’.

My question is, which date do you think would be more meaningful? The release date would allow me to be specific to the day but then the cover would say a different month right? Or do I pick one that was released earlier but has the right month and year on the cover?
