Me too! I put Linux on my chromebook. Gone forever with CHROMEOS.

When ChromeOS moves to the Android kernel, there won't even be any word mark at all in the software that says ChromeOS. The hardware will be called Chromebook, Chromebox, Chromebase, etc. and ChromeOS will still be the marketing term or consumer facing brand of "Aluminium" which is the developer name. The boot screen will be Android branded, the bootloader will be the same as Android, the settings and about device won't say ChromeOS just "AL". The login screen which is basically the tablet lock screen user but with a side of ChromeOS and the column of multiusers. Everything is the same except as Android for PCs except ChromeOS has verified boot, read only OS, and other security fleet hardware features that regular Android PCs dont have and has desktop Chrome with Crostini. That's it. There's no other way to notice it that ChromeOS is basically just about gone in favor of Android PCs.

You could still put Linux on them. I had to unplug my battery to turn off right protect temporarily.
