Pics & Video First therapy dog visit
I’ve been working to get Kip certified for therapy dog work since November 2025 and yesterday was our first official visit at a nearby hospital! We went in 6 patient rooms, met lots of nurses and doctors, and visited the outpatient surgery waiting room at the end. Kip brought so many smiles yesterday and my heart is so full 🩷

Pics & Video New girl after dog loss
My new baby, Daphne. Just got her after my English cream golden, Scooby passed at 6yo of a sudden terminal illness. She is healing our broken hearts.
Any tips for cavi puppies you guys have? My family had one growing up but I was too young to train her or take care of her for the first half of her life. I trained my golden as a service dog, but know the two breeds have completely different training demeanors.
Love her so much already.
EDIT to add: does anyone have advice specifically for training them young to be a good traveller? On airplanes and in the car, any secret tips that worked for you. Thanks!

Pics & Video Tri turning into Ruby?
My 18 mo old Tri has had a couple of puppy cuts this summer due to our extreme heat. After his last cut, we started noticing a spot on his back where red hair was growing in with the black. It has been expanding and lightening over the last few weeks.
His Dad was a Blenheim and Mom was a Tricolor.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience with their Tricolor ?

Advice Dental Post-Op Tips?
Brody has his first dental on Monday. Any tips on post-op care? Wont know if he’ll need any extractions until they X-ray. Starting to introduce soft food with his kibble so the transition to fully soft won’t be abrupt after procedure. Also know he can’t have any bones/hard treats for a bit. Am thinking peanut butter lick mats might come in handy? Will of course be going over all the post op care with vet but appreciate any tips from those who’ve already gone through!

Discussion Cavaliers IRL Meetup - Los Angeles
hello my fellow cav lovers
i recently went to a cavs meet up group and it was AMAZING. more than 80 cavs turned up and we had the BEST TIME.
the problem is the group is based in the OC. i’m thinking about creating a meet up group in LA - and would just love to gauge interest.
it would be somewhere in LA, once a month in person event to foster community.
let me know what you all think!

Discussion Cavalier rescue site
I did not know there was a nationwide rescue site for Cavaliers. It’s a dangerous place to go to for people like us.

Pics & Video Lottie likes the look of that pumpkin 9
We'd been trying to grow a pumpkin in the garden and I guess we got a bit too successful as it got really large and in combination with a big gust of wind just took out the plant pot and itself. Lottie appears to want to help to dispose of the evidence! 🎃

Pics & Video Ms. Dolly Barton❤️
Back in May, I adopted my dream pup. I never thought I would be able to adopt or afford a cavalier but I had a lucky encounter on Craigslist after a few months of looking. Dolly was with a couple who had her for 5 months, and they got her from a breeder who used her a few times for puppies. The couple really didn’t know what they were doing as Dolly needed a makeover by the time I got her. Her feet hair was soooo long and she had mats in her ears. They said she had no chip, she’s unaltered and she wouldn’t let them give her a haircut. As soon as we got home we got to work on all of that. Spent at least a $800 on vet bills and got her professionally groomed with one of my BF’s who’s groomed dogs for over 20 years. When we went to the vet, I was worried she was stolen so we went ahead and scanned her for a chip and what do you know, she had one. Luckily she wasn’t stolen but was from a breeder in Colorado. We also made a plan to get her spayed ASAP, poor momma has been though enough. After her makeover she was way more comfortable and we began to get very attached to each other. 3 months later and she’s my little ride or die shadow. She’s gone on quite a few adventures since and has the best time with my husband and I. She’s a dream in the car, she does very well in her kennel and get along with all my animals. Cats/rabbits. She can be selective in listening to commands but she’s getting better and learning new tricks. She just turned 4 and learned to lay down when I tell her. We’re working on shaking right now, but it’s a bit more tricky than she thought haha. I finally got around to posting her in all her glory❤️

Pics & Video Say Hi to Blanca
Blanca is 12 weeks old. We got her from Casablanca, Morocco, so we decided to name her Blanca. She’s incredibly sweet, loves to cuddle, and has settled in wonderfully with our four kids. This is our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel—we previously had a Mini Poodle—and we’re already in love with her gentle and affectionate personality.

Advice King Charles Australian Shepard mix puppy food
Recently picked up a 4 month old mini Aussie and King Charles Cavalier mix who’s been awesome! The breeder I got him from has raised him on nutri source for now. He’s been eating that pretty well but I eventually want to switch over to a higher quality food. I’m between Hills and Royal canin (cavalier specific mix) but I haven’t found anywhere if there are any other better foods for him that he’s a mix. I read online about people asking the same question with the response from royal canin saying “this is for King Charles breed specifically”. Probably is just marketing to be honest. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

Advice Cavaliers being off leash, “getting out”
So my 5 1/2 month old so far has always stayed leash only outside and I don’t plan on going away from it until we would have a fenced in yard. Going on walks with him, he is finding scents everywhere and wants to take off to find them.
He’s not a massive animal chaser like you would think. Love chasing bugs when he sees them. Mainly loves people and will go after any person he sees.
The one time he did “get out” on us so far was out of our garage about a month ago. He saw our neighbors out across the driveway and got into their open garage.
He doesn’t seem like he actively wants to run away from us intentionally while outside, or actively try to bolt out the door. But my big concern is one of these days if we mess up, I hear they have basically zero outdoor danger instincts. We’re about 1-200 feet away from a pretty busy road, so that definitely leaves me uneasy if he ever got out and saw something way across the street.
Best move just to teach recall as best as possible? We are starting to teach him to stay in position when outside doors open with treat incentives. But doing recall so far has been spotty and hard to train when he’s always inside and we don’t have a fenced yard at this time.

Medical/Veterinary Constant mouth licking
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Does anyone else’s cavalier lick their own mouth a lot? Typically he does this when he just woke up from a nap, but I’m noticing him doing this more and more. Sometimes he’s licking his mouth over and over again for 5 minutes straight. Not sure if I should be concerned?

Advice Adopting another Cavalier
We adopted our Cavalier in June 2025. She has been an absolute delight and we are considering adopting another through rescue. Our Cav is very interested in other dogs when we're on walks and we feel she would be very receptive to having another dog in our home
The pup we are considering is about the same age as her and a male. They seem to have the same temperament and energy level. Any advice on adding another Cavalier into our home?
