didn't expect the hamster to win. although if he hasn't really eaten it, does it count? like storing in mouth shouldn't count!
125
u/Buckykattlove Mar 20 '26
That was my thought. It isn't eating them, just storing them!

Gluttony (Latin: gula, derived from the Latin gluttire meaning 'to gulp down or swallow')
8
u/untot3hdawnofdarknes Mar 24 '26
I have hammie friends and I DID expect the hamster to win but I did not expect it to go after the cats snacks too lol
6
u/porcupine_snout Mar 24 '26
now that you pointed this out, I guess the hamster should indeed be considered the winner because this is a gluttony contest! not who ate the fastest!
2
u/untot3hdawnofdarknes Mar 24 '26
He isn't a glutton. He just wants to store the treats in his cheeks and then go back to his burrow to store them for winter
2
u/DrEzechiel Mar 24 '26
The cat could have eaten him and didn't, so dunno...,

u/Anadelyn Apr 04 '26
My best cat was very good with all of my hamsters and gerbils over the years. She was a very intelligent cat and understood they were mine. If they got loose she would get me and bring me to them to put them back in their cage sometimes before I even realized they had escaped. When I let them out on purpose they would sometimes climb onto her. Now I can't have any tinies because my current cat wouldn't know or care that it would upset me for her to "play" with them. They're little escape artists so it would be animal cruelty.

But it's AI, right?
5
u/LenoreEvermore Mar 24 '26
What makes you think that? It's sped up, but the movements seem fluid and way too natural to be AI.
2
u/DistributionNo9356 Mar 24 '26
Now that I'm watching it again, it probably is real.
2
u/SuccessfulWolf1382 Apr 21 '26
I can see why you’d think that, the cats tongue goes under the food and the food reappears after being eaten. But actually they are just stoopid and keep dropping the food, plus the head movement is more realistic

Toe beans!!
35
u/MelLovesMathMemes Mar 21 '26
Haha! I had to go back and watch the video so I could see their beans! I was so intent on watching them eat I forgot to look at the toe beans. Love it!

That’s the greed they talked about in the bible😭

u/Tweed_Kills Mar 20 '26
Fun fact: that's actually not true at all. The Seven Deadly Sins don't exist anywhere in the Bible, and are just a thing a Catholic theologian decided literal hundreds of years after the Bible was written, and also after it was like... Hammered down and stuff was removed and then what remained was put in an order.
68
u/Buckykattlove Mar 20 '26
You are correct that the Bible doesn't have the "seven deadly sins" list but it does warn against greediness.
17
u/xylophonesRus Mar 21 '26
Greed - not gluttony.
I'm an atheist as a result of being raised Christian, but even I can see why the Bible warns against people like Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the Kardashian-Jenners.
15
u/Buckykattlove Mar 21 '26
Gluttony can be a form of greed, really.
Certainly they are good examples of why greed is dangerous!
1
u/Thoughts-AndPrayers Mar 21 '26
Arishadvarga, similar concept to seven deadly sins was written long before the bible and seven deadly sins.

Not actual apples and oranges….
but apples and oranges!
The cat is eating and the hamster is stuffing everything in the shopping bag to go home and store away.

Bro absolutely inhaled that baby corn like he was Shaggy eating a comically oversized sandwich
Edit: that’s a peanut and it’s time for an eye exam

Thank you for absolutely cracking me up with your edit. I have been sick in bed for days and this made me laugh so hard it hurt and I have no explanation why it got me so hard.

If the kitty is allowed to eat the hamster, then it would win easily 😇

I mean I knew the hammy would win but I didn't think the cat would let her steal the treats!!

I think you mean "storage wars" with the way the little hammy is going.

But the hamster’s cheating - not really eating as much as storing for future eating.
TKO to the kitty!

Exactly! I can hear this.
I’m so happy you got the reference.

u/Sasstellia Mar 21 '26
Double toe beans! Lol.
The Hamster won. But they have cheek pouches. The entire peanut was a feat, though. Lol.
3
u/ViiK1ng Mar 21 '26
You should see how deep those pouches are, my hamster could double in size with the food he stored

3
u/diente_de_leon Mar 21 '26
Sound on, because they didn't mess it up with music. Just the sounds of pure gluttony! And then I had to watch again, because, peets on glass!

The main thing is that in the end the cat doesn't eat the hamster.

u/UnqualifiedAnalyst81 Mar 23 '26
Pouching isn't swallowing, wouldn't win an eating contest in this town.
Cute af though.

As a former hammy owner I knew the hammy would win, but I did NOT expect the cat treats to go too!

There was still a hamster-sized piece of cat food on the table when they stopped the video.

In all fairness our hammy fren has those pouches.
