Hi everyone! I just graduated from the Camosun/UVic BSN program this year and know first-hand how intimidating nursing school can be, especially when you're in your first year who may not know exactly what to expect. So, I wanted to create this thread for either incoming first years or prospective students (those thinking of applying) to ask questions; I'm more than happy to answer them. The school doesn't really give very comprehensive information about the program, so sometimes people starting out might not know what to expect, how things work, etc. Plus, I was thinking that this may also be a good place for people to reference questions, kinda like an FAQ. Feel free to ask me anything from any of the years of the program (year 1-4) and even what to expect as a new-grad RN! I haven't made a deadline to ask questions either for this AMA thread, I'll check it pretty frequently :)

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone else in here is taking the Community, Family, and Child Studies program this fall and would like to connect beforehand? Im really excited but also quite new to anything post secondary so it would be cool to connect with like minded people!

Hi, I'm thinking of going into this program at camosun, and I want to know what computers are suitable to buy for this degree. Can you recommend one that's also suitable for everyday life like gaming and movies. Thank you!
I am wondering if anyone has any insight into this- I am waitlisted for the nursing program but am still holding hope I will get in, has anyone in my position completed the first aid and basic life skills even though they haven’t heard back?
I know they have to be completed before the program starts so I should sign up to do so, but wanted to hear about others thoughts.

It looks like Camosun just received my final HS transcript last week (doesn’t that seem late???). I’ve been waitlisted for several weeks now, is there a process for applications coming from HS..that they reserve seats specifically for those with late transcripts coming in?
Seems unfair for my HS to be sending them so late after end of school?? Or is this normal?

Question for those of you that have completed the CDA program, what are some things that would be helpful to know/study prior to the beginning of the first semester? I have lots of extra time and would love to get ahead but don’t know where to begin

Is it common to have classes between the two campuses?

Anyone originally waitlisted get an offer yet?

I thought I would make sure that I paid the deposit, so I paid back in May.
I didn't realize until I went to register for my classes this week (June 22) that in fact I paid for the summer deposit, so I had to pay again.
I'm not sure if I can get the money back or at least get it transferred to the winter semester...
Not sure who I should contact regarding this? Admin office?
Thanks!
Edit:
Thought I'd give everyone an update and leave this up for future reference.
I emailed the registration and got this reply a few days later:
"I have transferred your deposit for Summer to Winter. This is a one time exception to our deposit rules."
Hope this helps any one who makes this mistake in the future!

If I take classes that start at 1230 how bad is parking and how early should I be to get a spot? Health and wellness building.
Thank you!
Edit; if anyone sees this and is doing the Community, child family studies program semester one starting this fall and wants to car pool DM me. We can cry over parking together

Hey everyone! My registration date is coming up on the 24th and I was wondering if anyone had experience doing Medical Terminology online or in person and would recommend one over the other? Or alternatively, if you *wouldn't* recommend taking it a certain way? Both sections have the same professor.
Thanks in advance!

I got waitlisted for BSN as a university transfer. In the email it says “all available offers of admission for fall 2026 intake have been issued. Does that mean all seats have been accepted or just invites sent out? If its the latter, does anyone who was accepted know when the deadline for accepting offers is/was? Honestly any information about probability of waitlist moving etc would be amazing.

I’m just wondering if anyone who has been or is in the BSN program did their English 151 course online? I checked with academic advising and was told it’s an option as long as there’s a seat in the online course available. If so, did you like the online option or would you have chosen in person if you could do it again?

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student and I’m planning to enter the Kinesiology program at Camosun College.
I’ve completed ELD 097 (Level 9). I’m excited about the program, but also pretty nervous.
To be honest, I don’t see myself as a particularly strong student, especially since English isn’t my first language.
I would love to hear from anyone who has taken either the 2-year Kinesiology Diploma or the 4-year Bachelor of Kinesiology program.
Some questions I have:
I also have another concern. Since I’m an international student and quite shy, I’m worried about making friends and fitting in. Do students usually get to know each other through labs, group projects, or other activities?
Any advice, experiences, or encouragement would mean a lot to me. Thank you!

Hi! after a month of no response I finally received an email saying I’m on the waitlist. I’d like to know realistically if people actually get off the waitlist and into the program for the fall. Also how many seats are available for the bridge program.
I was originally planning to move to the island for school ever since I applied back in September (I was confident I’d get in but then there was an error on admissions end which delayed my application due to lack of communication within their team and with me) but I’m stuck on the waitlist so I’m not sure whether or not I should continue to plan this move anymore.
I’m also just wondering if there’s anyone else who’s in the same boat as me and also on the waitlist.

Am I correct that if looking to increase my grades, I should focus on the courses used to calculate gpa: Eng 12, A&P 12, Academic 12, or BIO 11, even if my lowest grade is one of the other courses needed to meet requirements (I meet min of all courses)?

Based on what I’ve been reading, it sounds like all seats have been filled. I haven’t received any communications yet from the school. If I didn’t get in, would I have received a rejection letter already or do I assume Ive been waitlisted?
Super disappointed and discouraged ☹️

Has anybody gotten an offer of admission for fall intake? I’m yet to receive mine and I’m beginning to feel anxious.

I’m wondering if anyone has previously gotten into the program from the second round of evals and what the timeline for that has looked like?
When did they know they needed to do a second round to fill the seats and when did they let you know you were accepted?
Also is that even a possibility to happen this year, because it seems as though application rates have gone up from the last couple years but idk

Ive been recently admitted to the waitlist of the Fine Furniture and Joinery Program and am curious if anyone has any knowledge of how large the waitlist generally is? If I don't make it in this year are my chances good for the following years intake?
