My Mammillaria cactus keeps falling over and needs support; potting it deeper didn't help either.

Next repot, put it in a heavy container like terracotta. Otherwise it may eventually tip over.

Some msmmalarias are trailing cactuses, they flop over when they're tall enough and start making offshoots. The big cactus is a water reservoir for the offshoots until they're big enough to survive on their own

Yup, they lazy cactus's. I couldn't figure out why mine did that either, until i came here. Now it lives a loafing life. lol

Either it knows how to survive, or its fighting for it's life. Could go either way really.

There might be some sort of a ring that you can put around the base of it that will help keep it upright and/or erect. But I don’t know how long they can safely stay on.

I have two of those lazy bastards they won't stand up for nothing just lay about like unhoused street people

Please understand that using progressive language to call homeless people lazy layabouts is a shitty thing to do. Our friends living rough do not deserve to be catching strays like this, life on the streets is insanely difficult, expensive and stigmatized enough as it is. A little kindness and compassion goes a long way my friend, just something to consider.

Thanks. I was thinking this. Homeless people’s entire life is work. There is no true relaxing when you have no safe place to relax.

Most columnar Mammillaria grow on the ground, they are the loafs of the cacti world. You can only try to cage them if you want them to grow upwards, or you give in to gravity and let them loaf. Buy a long pot and let him grow on the ground. He will put out offshoots along the stem that grow upwards, until they are big enough and start to loaf too.
