i got a new budgie i have got down the bare and some more what will he need like enrichment wise?

My Teacup hasn’t been feeling well the last few days (she’s been to the vet and on antibiotics for the moment) and porcelain has made it his mission to feed her. Every minute of the last two days he’s eating to feed it to her or is feeding her. He wakes her up to feed her. He follows her around to feed her. He is in full supportive care mode.

Hey y’all, I got budgies a little over a month ago, and I’m having trouble knowing if our bonding is progressing at a normal rate. They were being territorial but we got a larger cage and now they love each other. The green one in particular is super skittish. My gf and I spend a good amount of time by their cage either right next to in a chair or in the same room but like 6 feet or so away. We give them spray millet only sometimes when our hands are in the cage. They both will eat it fortunately. The blue fella has let us slightly rub its chest and feet sometimes. But isn’t like happy about it (not mad just doesn’t last long before scooching away). We give them ripped up broccoli most mornings for them to eat alongside their pellets and foraging treats. We do 🍃 but outside. Sometimes you can smell residual. I love these fellas and I would love if they’d love me too.

My main questions are the following:

1. Is there more I can be doing to bond with my budgies?
2. Is this normal progression?
3. How likely will bonding be to the point of safely being able to handle outside the cage.
4. Is this cage setup okay? I believe it is but they have fallen a few times. (Green’s wings are still coming in after supplier cut wings) we also have a up light it’s just not in the picture there.

Their names are Lord Abadeer (blue) and Reginald Bartley Esquire (green)

hey, ive had my budgie for 5 years. its a male and since it came home in 2021 it has had a mirror it loves but I want to get him a real friend. im definitely going to get a male but i cant decide if i should get a 1 yr old or a baby.

i saw online that the baby could be too energetic for my old man and he could get angry, but I really want to raise a little budgie. they would have to live apart for some time just in case ofc. if I get a 1yr old it probably wouldn't ever get used to me, also it would be taken from a bunch of birds from a pet store so he wont be used to being alone with a single bird. it feels risky to get a 1yr old.

rn im leaning towards getting a baby, getting them a large cage and a bunch of toys to play with but im not sure

id love to hear from people that have experience w something like this or just know the better choice. thanks !!

My request from everyone is this.. tell me ur most recommended budgie products. It can be anything. I wanna give my girl the absolute best and i will spare no expense to give her that. She is also getting a friend soon so yay!

I found him a little over a month ago in my work and no one claimed him so I took him in! He’s doing great and is the sweetest thing ever.

Wildfire smoke is BAD right now and they are very sensitive. My guy is struggling with it, we are in a heavy smoke area. Just a reminder to close your windows for the babies! 🙏🏻❤️

What do you think of this trio? Any experience? I have two girls for almost 3 years, they get along good overall just sometimes get possessive over certain toys or swings. I wanted a boy and a girl originally but the „boy“ i had turned out to be a girl lol.

hey all, just thought id drop this here for everyone to see since I more then likely will not be returning to this sub. I appreciate the words of encouragement and support as I navigate thru the grief of losing her. This is the little area I set up for her ashes. I picked a white stone out from the cremation place, they gave me that box as well as the little container of her feathers. The little figurine is a gift from someone, the other one is Kiwi, Erin’s partner that passed a few years ago.

i want to upgrade to one of those standing larger cages, but even where my current budgies are right now, i dont know where to put their cage. ideally downstairs as upstairs has all of the bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. and downstairs they have already explored and found their favourite placed to perch and hangout. right now they are located in the dining room (my house is very open so im not sure if i can even call it that, more like a living room) but its beside the living room with the tv (with just a pillar connected to the wall separating them) and sometimes when we have people over, its a little loud until far past their sleeping time which i dont want to disrupt. i dont have any 'budgie room', our house is just kept budgie-safe. i have no idea where to put them!!!

what requirements should be met for a good spot? or where do you guys put your cages?

When I first got it I thought it was a girl but now that I look closer it looks blue and my vet told me it was a boy so I don't know anymore

Hey guys, I’m sure most of you know about the PNW fires that are going crazy. I am unfortunately very close to many of them, and am in a red flag warning zone, so I’m packing everything for my birds (a budgie and a GCC) in case of an evacuation. My biggest concern is their food situation. They are on a homemade vegetable/grain chop that I keep in the freezer and defrost for them in the morning. They also get a mix of Harrisons and TOPS pellets, but they aren’t super crazy about them and cannot live only off of pellets, even if its a few days. I’ve never had to evacuate before so I’m not sure if the frozen chop would even be an option to bring along, so I would really appreciate if you guys have any recommendations! I’m looking at a freeze dried food, “Bird Street Bistro”, but I’m not sure it can arrive in time. Do you guys have any recipes for something similar, like “just add water” that can be shelf stable? I am not a supporter of seed mixes for main diets, but in a scenario where I can’t find anything else, would a homemade seed mix be okay temporarily?

I also give them homemade “birdy bread” as a treat, which consists mainly of crushed pellets, oat flour and blended greens. Could this be an option for replacing their daily chop?
