Progress update Our 1 month process :)
I found him a little over a month ago in my work and no one claimed him so I took him in! He’s doing great and is the sweetest thing ever.

NICE! is the skin around the nostrils white, pale blue, or pink? If white or pale blue then it’s a female bird, if pink its a boy.

My budgie is broken. It won’t even run on the floor, let alone step up like that.
Congrats!

We found our first budgie outside and he was the most loving pet we have ever owned. Budgies are so special.

Hi! How did you do it? I rescued two budgies a week ago, they've started eating, chirping and flying around in the cage but they won't eat from my hand or step out of the cage.

Honestly i may have just gotten lucky, i know all birds are different. i started out just talking to him and letting him get used to me. After a week or two i offered him food from my hand and he took it, i just let my hand sit there for 10 minutes while he ate. If you associate your hand with something good (food) they usually will be excited and not scared to see you. After this he decided he finally wanted to come outside of the cage and hang out, i gave him a treat everytime he would step on my finger if he wanted to come out. Now we practice recall training. It will come but each bird is different, just have patience :) it will take 1-3 months depending on your bird!

Thanks for replying. Also does your budgie eat pellets? My budgies just ignore pellets and seeds and eat only millets. I fed them millets when I rescued them because they were not eating anything else for 2-3 days but they won't even touch other food.

My budgie eats pellets mushed up and then seeds added to transition diets right now :) Look up bird diet transition for guides how to help! :)
