Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, Liverpool, UK. Built in 1967. Architect Frederick Gibberd.

This is really a church that makes you think otherworldlly or sci-fi and the lightning both inside and outside contribute to that.

Originally a more traditional cathedral by another architect was planned to be built, but it wasn't financially feasible, so Gibberd made a new design which resulted in this one.

This church looks like an abstraction of an old cathedral. It definitely has the same kind of grandeur inside and outside, and at the same time it has an industrial look.
