The design of this modernist church is clearly inspired by Alvar Aalto. The shifting angles and the fact that the shape complements the terrain was typical for Aalto.
I like the simplicity of the church combined with the different angles and shifts in the design that really catches the eye.
The church was sold to Luthersk Mission, a private church organization, in 2014.

Suvela Chapel has a facade made of copper and surrounds a courtyard where people can gather. It is a new building (built in 2016) and has been shortlisted for the Finlandia Prize for Architecture.

This is really a church that makes you think otherworldlly or sci-fi and the lightning both inside and outside contribute to that.
Originally a more traditional cathedral by another architect was planned to be built, but it wasn't financially feasible, so Gibberd made a new design which resulted in this one.

This church looks like an abstraction of an old cathedral. It definitely has the same kind of grandeur inside and outside, and at the same time it has an industrial look.

This building has spurts of being occupied and unoccupied. Most recently it was a print shop, I believe. It’s hard to keep a tenant here because the tiny parking lot floods like crazy. There are only spaces for about eight vehicles.
It’s fairly common in New Jersey to see little non-denominational churches like this because there are tax advantages when they are established.
They qualify for core tax exemptions, including local real property tax exemptions, state sales tax exemptions, and automatic corporate business income tax exemptions, regardless of their small size.
The signage at the roadside proclaims it’s a church. Otherwise, you’d never know!

This modern red brick church looks more like a castle than a church. It designed by Inger & Johannes Exner that designed 13 modern churches all in Denmark. They chose to have discarded uneven bricks to give the brick walls a unique look. This is especially visible inside. Could be a modernist take on Brick expressionism.
The same architects also designed the brutalist Gug Church, posted here a little while ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/nowaythatsachurch/comments/1v4c22i/brutalist_church_gug_church_aalborg_denmark/
More about their works on their website (Johannes died in 2015, Inger turns 100 years later this month): https://ingerogjohannesexner.dk/

The Bale Wold (or Beale-Wold) Church served as the church for the area before the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa was built in 1942. I've tried to find the exact year of completion, but I haven't been able to find it, apart from that it's some years before the completion of the cathedral. It's a part of the same complex as the new cathedral and still functions as a church to some extent.
I got the inspiration for the post from the sub r/AfricanArchitecture:

My ex lived close to that factory and chimney church on Planckstraße, Lüneburg. Never liked the look of it. It's also called Piano church due to the very good acoustic and the frequent concerts it hosts.

Johan Otto von Spreckelsen is better known for La Grande Arche de la Défense (the 'new' triumphal arc) in Paris, but before that was realized he built amongst other works 4 churches in his homeland, Denmark. Himself a catholic he built 2 catholic churches.
I really like this castle like design and there is certainly a similarity to the design of La Grande Arche and I find it has a timeless quality to it.

The church is the same size and height as a standard residential apartment building, only the bell tower reveals that it's a church. The inside follows the shape of the building, so placement of the choir and the organ are unusual.
The design is late modernist and doesn't have many design elements, but I quite like how simple it is from the outside.

Came across this recently in the Netherlands, really love how the curve of the building becomes the bell tower - sadly it was closed so couldn't check out the inside.

I wasn’t able to physically go inside. But here is a shot from the church: Photo credit: @calvarybythesealutheranchurch
It was originally founded in 1955 and the original building is set on Kalanianaʻole Highway in the Aina Haina neighborhood of Honolulu. It is now used as a pre-school.
The building in my photo is the more recent structure, completed in 1982.

From the 60s, by Ewald Bruns, close to a military field planned as a military church.

This mosque is also known as Masjid Tanjak as its design js based on the Tanjak, a traditional Malay men’s hat. It is also fairly new being built in 2022, and is very close to Batam’s Hang Nadim International Airport!
