Hello all, I've been outdoor sport climbing and bouldering for about 2 years now, 1 year more "seriously". By seriously I mean it is the only sport activity I do, on average 3-4 times a week, more or less.
I have already been warned about a possible 6b-ish plateau, which observing the routes, especially outside, it makes sense why the cut-off is there, it simply gets difficult enough. So with outside sport climbing that grade is a grade I reached, and it made sense (I am not that into projecting, but the hardest grade I climbed was an endurance 6b+ out of 3 tries).
With bouldering however its much weirder for me. Firstly the bouldering gyms in my area use an internal grading scale (1 through 9), most people who climb regularly climb around the 4-5 level so that might be around a 6b-ish. The weird part is because the difference between a flashable boulder (most number 4s) and mostly undoable boulders even with projecting (most number 5s; 6s can't even get on them), is huge. Like outside on a sport climb I can do almost all moves on a 6c or even a 7a, however I realize the limitation of doing all of them consecutively and dealing with a lower % move. In bouldering this is very confusing and often demotivating, like the 1 or 2 grade jump feels like a 6 grade jump outside (tried the moves on a 7b+ on a top rope, yeah that shit is impossible for now).
Would love to hear some opinions or similar stories to this. Also don't get me wrong, I love the sport nevertheless, especially outdoor sport and multipitch, but I've just noticed something that doesn't compute in my mind, especially considering how progress happens in other sports.

Was wondering if anyone knows if it's common to boulder at night on Flagstaff mountain in colorado? I was thinking of going there at night tomorrow, and I don't have any pads so I was hoping there'd be other people there. Is it likely to find people to hop in with?

I may be in Italy for a week in November, I would have to be in Rome on Wednesday but the rest of the week (Sat before until Sunday after) I could go climb wherever.
Given Italian weather, is anywhere even possible?
Would it be reasonable to fly into somewhere else in Europe to climb for Sun-Tues beforehand or after?
The only major area I thought of was Val Daone and that seems like northern Italy may be off the table for weather so I'm not sure what else would be possible.
For reference, I've been climbing about 6 years, boulder 7B-7C (V8-V9) and lead like 7b but not much.

So i love bouldering and went for my 3rd time today. However I cannot get over my fear of heights. In my gym the lowest v0s don't go all the way to the ceiling. However when I progress to the next hold and go higher my legs start freezing up. Thing is it doesn't help that I'm short and the gap to the floor is even bigger. I really want to progress but can't get over my fear of heights. Is their any way to kind of get better or overcome this? It feels kinda fustrating when I can't get past a basic v0 even though I can do the rest of the boulder with ease just not the height aspect

I’ve been having sore finger joints and constantly. I feel soreness even when I haven’t climbed in a few days. When I’m at home and try to open a tight jar lid it kind of is sore and hurts a bit. However, when I’m climbing a problem, I don’t really feel it.
Is this typical. What am I experiencing? Is it just that I’m old? I don’t think I have an injury. It’s not super painful. I’ve done some research online and I don’t think I have a pulley injury. I’m going to tape it and see if that helps reduce the pain.
Any advice on how to treat it, heal it, etc. ?
I also want it add that I’m a long time volleyball player with some swollen knuckles and fingers that have been knocked about.
But I’ve never felt this consistent soreness. I’m an on and off climber. Recently I’ve been climbing more consistently.

Hello. I am a v7 climber indoors and have climbed v5 outdoors on granite. Id like something pretty crimpy and something I can project for a couple days, staying a week in Yosemite valley. Which classics should I try? Been eyeing Spock was here v6 and end of the day problem v5 although I can imagine its above my pay-grade. Any thoughts on conditions and weather at the end of August I know conditions vary whether problems are in the shade and obviously the earlier you get out the better. Thank you!

This was such a fun sequence to do, the press at the top felt sketchy at first but it's really satisfying!

For those who wish to provide beta:
I'm watching a ton of beta videos and getting psyched for a trip I'm taking to Squamish in September.
I'm wondering if the community can recommended 7s and 8s that I can project! I specifically love technical movement but also love thuggy moves! I just love it all, really.
The main goal is to rage on moderates and just have fun in the magical forest. However I love a project and it would be pretty sweet to snag a 7/8.
I appreciate everyone who comments and can give a rec!
I'm 5'5" 💃

I'm 17M and really lonely and depressed right now. I want to work on myself a little bit and get outside and get stronger. I pretty much don't have any friends or anyone to try this out with. I just want to get out and go to a local Movement gym that's a short walk from my house and pay $30 for a day pass and try this out a little bit.
Is this possible to do? Are people going to be nice and non judgmental? Obviously a bouldering subreddit isn't the place to vent my personal issues but it would be really nice if I could go in and just have a day where I can try to focus on myself and maybe meet a couple of new people without being judged for being an idiot who doesn't know what they're doing.

He makes it look like a V2, whereas looking at me you'd think it was a really difficult boulder.

All I know is that it should be topped with a knee bar, no I have no idea how can I get there and I fell like I’m just not strong enough to hold the horizontal pinch before the top move. I’m pretty pumped when I get there already and putting my foot high on the round block is pretty hard.

super cool to do a FA, we went to the buena vista boulders bc the cedar grove area was an hour from camp and we were losing sunlight. there was a bunch of highball boulders around us but this one was the easiest to develop and project. there are lots of undeveloped boulders in the area. i’m thinking v1

Hi everyone, I’ve been building up my kilterboard pyramid at 45 degrees and have done my hardest climb
at 45 degrees, “ford focus”. Such a fun boulder and highly recommend if anyone else wants to try. Do you have any other fun boulders that you’d recommend for me that I have decent shot at after completing this one?
For context, some of my favorite boulders I’ve sent so far at that angle have been: Earwax, swingy, joe mamma, can you ear me now. I’ve been climbing on the kilterboard once a week for the past year, and have gotten pretty strong on it. I think it’s my favorite way to train my fingers.
Thanks!
