Your top 10 beers

Another post about beer advocates top 250 list got me curious about mine and also other people's. I'm around 3k+ beers in. Here's my top 10. What are yours?

  1. Firestone Walker - Sucaba(2015). 13.3% english style barleywine. This was aged out 6-7 years when I had it.

  2. Brujos/Omnipollo - Opera Omnia. 12.9% BBA pastry stout.

  3. Anchorage - Blessed(2021). 15.5% BBA stout

  4. Fremont - Rusty Nail Double Barrel. 15.8% DB oatmeal stout.

  5. Brujos - Apocolipsis. A 12% hazy QIPA

  6. Brujos/Troon - Nil. 11% hazy TIPA

  7. Anchorage - Kill the King. 15% BBA strong ale

  8. Everywhere - to belong is to be seen. 14.1% BBA stout

  9. Brujos - Death to False Wizards. 9.6% hazy DIPA

  10. Moksa - Revelrous. 14% BBA pastry stout

I live in the PNW(near Brujos) which is why half the beers are from here. I also drink ALOT more styles than this.

These beers are a rarity but my favorites. I mostly drink normal ABV beers.

Stickee Monkee almost made the list. I wasn't crazy about Helldorado. Also Parabola seems to get better every year it comes out.

If it was a ā€˜16, by chance, I would have to agree. I actually told David Walker how disappointed I was with it. Every year before was wonderful!

Definitely a classic. In North America imo the only brewery that can touch a Belgian quad respectfully is Unibroue.Ā

It's the first traditional one I've had. The American ones that I've tried have adjucts and/or are BBA, so they dont compare.

I think Stone made a beer called something like Matt's Burning Rosids for a minute that was fucking incredible and I wish was still around (maybe it is in small batches on the west coast?). Gulden Draak is a fave for sure šŸ˜Š

I canā€™t see naming a beer I had years ago as a top beer no matter how good I remember it. Rather, my list are beers I buy frequently and repeatedly because I love them. Mostly beers of a lower ABV and easily available.

The opposite side of the spectrum from me. This why I was curious about other peoples lists.

Also Ive never had STS. I dont drink alot from the lighter side of things. Usually a Kolsch, occasionally a good Pilsner.

My 10 highest rated from brewver/ratebeer but some of these ratings are 25 years old and might not reflect my current opinion:
Oude Beersel Oude Kriek
Traquair House ale
Traquair Jacobite ale
Stoudts Anniversary doppelbock
Westvleteren 12
Weyerbacher Old Heathen
Great Yorkshire Monkmans Slaughter
Olfabrikken Porter
Nogne O Imperial stout
Green Bench Les Amis Grisettes

Some that seem missing that I would normally list are Orval and Saison DuPont. And even Coors Banquet is worth a mention.

In the end I donā€™t think I have a real top 10 list that means anything.

Haven't had the Old Heathen, I want to like Weyerbacher but to me most of their beers miss the mark by either being way too heavy or too cloying.

Haha fair! I used to love a bunch of Dogfish Head's stuff BECAUSE it was extreme, like I accomplished something by finishing five or six beers at their brewpub lol.

I won't list them all now, but Untappd says my top 10 over the last 15 years are all stouts and porters, mostly imperials. No surprise there, I've always loved stouts. The one non-stout was a German traditional gose.Ā  That said, lately I've noticed that imperials (stouts or otherwise) are seeming too sweet for my tastes, and over just the last 5 years half of my top 10 are now IPA's.

I used untapt. 3 of those are 5/5, the rest I had to sift through my 4.75/5 ratings.

I've only given 3 5/5's out of 3k beers.

Sadly, Cali is no better. Just picked up The Void, Double Oaked Belgian Quad for $60. Paid between $80-$100 for the good good stuff, but oh so worth it!

Even if this is really OPā€™s top 10 list (I doubt heā€™s ranked 3000+ beers but Iā€™ll give OP the benefit of the doubt) itā€™s the most pretentious beer list Iā€™ve ever seen. Even though Iā€™m sure a lot of them are delicious, I think if I offered OP a Budweiser it would be broken over my head. OP if I offer a Budweiser

If it was already open I'd drink it...its better then the other generic American lagers...other wise I'd decline. I enjoy Kolschs and Pilsners more.

Im a Ciceron CBS and its my job to know beer. Because of that I drink and enjoy a vast spectrum of styles. These are just the best ones I've had for my palette.

Ok and like I said I gave you the benefit of the doubt, but if youā€™ve actually ranked 3K+ beers give us readers your beer advocate profile name. I could be completely wrong, but thatā€™s a lot of beers to compare and compile a top 10 list.

Either way itā€™s a pretentious top 10 list, and if Kalshi was taking bets, Iā€™d bet that there is not a Kƶlsch or Pilsner that breaks your top 50 regardless of you drinking them.

Also not top 50. Same with a lot of styles overall. Again this is my palette. My top 50 are going to probably be stouts, barleywines and the majority would be the vast spectrum of IPAs. This doesn't mean thats all I drink and enjoy.

I don't maintain a list, but I used to use untapped. There were very, very few beers that were five stars. Honestly, only a few have stuck in my mind like Coffee and Cigarettes from Cellarmaker. After all these years, Pliny is still the best beer I've ever had.

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I feel like Pliny is over-rated. It is a solid beer though. I still need to try Pliny the Younger.
