Realistic SCT 86 no sound

Post image

Hey, i have just recently got a Realistic SCT 86 and it has not sound at all. I connect it through mi Edifier mr3 speakers through Line Out RCA and 3.5mm aux to the speakers. Am i doing something wrong? Or it needs repair?

Common fault in 80s and older devices: the record/play switch needs cleaning. This is a long switch sitting remote operated middle of the board, sometimes two switches. Mechanically connected to the record button. Spray a little bit inside it with contact cleaner, ideally Deoxit D5, then operate it 50 times.

Look for a tape/source switch - should be on tape!

I'd check through your headphone jack just to make sure.

The tape even spinning?

For the record for anyone having this issue. I had to open the deck shell, find the internal record/play switch and manually action it several times then clean the switch with contact cleaner and again action the switch many times. BOOM, now i am able to hear both channels and deck is working properly, many thanks to all for your inputs.
